Evangelion 2.0 DVD Has Retakes in the Works for Spring

posted on by Egan Loo

In an interview in the January issue of rockin'on's Cut magazine on Saturday, co-director Kazuya Tsurumaki indicated that he is working on retakes for the DVD release of the Evangelion: 2.0 You Can [Not] Advance (Evangelion Shin Gekijōban: Ha) film. According to Tsurumaki, the producers are aiming to release the DVD next spring.

Evangelion: 2.0 You Can [Not] Advance is the second film in Hideaki Anno and Khara's theatrical film remake of Anno and Gainax's Neon Genesis Evangelion television anime series. It opened in Japan on June 27, and has since played in festivals in Spain, Canada, the United States, and France. The film continues the story of a group of 14-year-olds entrusted with giant biomechanical units to protect Earth from mysterious Angels. The second film goes farther in a different direction from the original television series than the first film did.

Funimation has released the first film in the remake, Evangelion: 1.0 You Are [Not] Alone (Evangelion Shin Gekijōban: Jo), in North America this year in theaters and on home video. Like the second film, the first film had multiple retakes in its DVD releases, culminating with the latest "Evangelion 1.11" edition.
