FLCL, Vampire Knight Guilty Put on iTunes Before DVD/BD

posted on by Gia Manry

Funimation announced on Monday that it has released the six-episode Gainax video anime series FLCL on Apple's iTunes Store in the United States this week. The full series is available in high-definition for US$14.95, or in standard definition for US$9.95. Episodes are also available individually in high-definition for US$2.99 each, and the first episode is available for free. The series has been rated TV-14 ("parents strongly cautioned").

Funimation announced that it acquired FLCL's DVD and Blu-ray Disc rights last January, and it will ship both versions (which include Synch-Point's original English-language dub) on February 8. The series had been out of print for years before Synch-Point parent Broccoli closed its United State subsidiary in 2008.

Viz is also marking the iTunes debut of Vampire Knight Guilty and Buso Renkin by offering the first episode of Vampire Knight and Buso Renkin for free until February 1. The remaining episodes are for sale individually for US$1.99 each, or renting for US$0.99. The 13-episode seasons of Vampire Knight and Vampire Knight Guilty are available in standard definition for US$22.99 each. The full 26-episode Buso Renkin series is available in standard definition in two US$19.99 volumes.

Viz Media will release the first DVD volume of Vampire Knight Guilty on March 15. The first Vampire Knight season and Buso Renkin are already available on DVD.
