This year's 42nd issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine is announcing on Monday that the upcoming Nintendo 3DS game One Piece Unlimited World Red is getting two original characters. One of the characters was previewed in a promotional video last month. The game will feature the new character Red (pictured top right in image), who will be voiced by Masachika Ichimura (Pokémon: The First Movie's Mewtwo, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children's Red XIII). Additionally, the game will feature the original raccoon character Pat (pictured at left in image), voiced by TARAKO (Chibi Maruko-chan's titular character, Noir's Altena). The two mysterious new characters who may be friend or foe will hold the key to the game's story, which is set in the New World. One Piece manga creator Eiichiro Oda designed both of the new characters.
Additionally, the game is getting another original character named Yadoya (pictured at center in blue outfit in image), voiced by Rumi Hiiragi (Spirited Away's Chihiro). The November issue of V Jump magazine on sale on September 21 will have new information about the original characters.
The game will allow for up to four players to play together, and players can explore the world of One Piece with their friends. In addition, players can play fishing, bug-catching, and treasure-hunting mini games with up to four players. Ganbarion is developing the "multi action-adventure" title. As a special offer with the first printing, players can download an extra costume for Luffy from One Piece: Strong World and a side-quest where Ace is a playable character.
The game is also getting two Nintendo 3DS XL designs: Chopper Pink and Luffy Red. The game and the two 3DS XL consoles will ship in Japan on November 21.
