I'll Give It My All... Tomorrow's Aono to Launch Slapstick Manga

Author also resumes Gotanda Monogatari manga next month

I'll Give It My All... Tomorrow manga creator Shunju Aono will launch a new manga titled Slapstick in the January issue of Shogakukan's Monthly Ikki magazine on November 25.

In 2001, Aono submitted a one-shot manga titled "Slapstick" under the name Haruhiko Shiina and the manga won a Rookie of the Year award in Weekly Young Magazine's 45th annual Tetsuya Chiba Awards. However, the submission was not published in the magazine.

Monthly Ikki describes the story of Slapstick as follows:

9-year old Haruhito Tachibana wonders why he's so unfortunate. The reason he thinks this is because of his elder brother. "Everything's his fault..." Haruhito thinks to himself. What is the reason behind this?

Additionally, December issue of Shogakukan's Monthly Big Comic Spirits magazine revealed on Saturday that Aono will also resume his Gotanda Monogatari manga in the January issue on November 27. Aono had serialized the manga in Weekly Big Comic Spirits last year, and the series' single compiled volume shipped in Japan in May. The story depicts a young man who comes to Tokyo with high hopes but is let down by the boring daily life he finds there. However, things begin to change when he starts to interact with his senior at his part-time job.

Aono ended I'll Give It My All... Tomorrow last year and Viz Media published the final volume in English in July. A live-action film adaptation of the manga premiered in Japan on June 15. Aono serialized the one-volume Ore wa Motto Honki Dashitenai Dake spinoff series in Monthly Ikki earlier this year.
