Anime Sols Raises Funds to Translate Tezuka Productions' Drawing Book

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Anime Sols launched two campaigns on Sunday to fund The Basics of Animation Drawing: Let's Study with Tezuka Osamu Characters! book and fair-trade Tezuka merchandise made in developing areas of South Asia.

The Basics of Animation Drawing needs to raise US$4,000 by March 18 or gain 200 individual pledges. The project will translate a book covering animation techniques aimed at beginning animators. Originally published in Japan in 2006, the book is 158 pages with 268 visual points to explain the fundamentals of animation techniques.

The "Message from Tezuka Osamu" merchandise needs to raise US$5,000 by March 18. Tezuka Productions is looking to foster stable employment opportunities in developing areas of Nepal and Bangladesh by producing fair-trade goods. The goods are printed with one of four messages from Tezuka's Save Our Fragile Earth manga. Products include tote bags, notepads, memo pads, stationary sets, and woodcut stamps and feature characters from Tezuka's Jungle Emperor Leo, Black Jack, Phoenix and Astro Boy series.

Anime Sols successfully funded two Black Jack sets, three Creamy Mami sets, and two DVD box sets of Dear Brother.
