Seisen Cerberus Mobile Game Gets TV Anime in April

Social networking and mobile gaming platform GREE announced on Monday that it is supervising and producing a television anime adaptation of its Seisen Cerberus mobile game, in partnership with Chinese video streaming platform iQIYI. The anime is titled Seisen Cerberus Ryūkoku no Fatalite, and it will premiere on TV Tokyo in April to celebrate the game's fifth anniversary.

Yoshitsugu Matsuoka will voice the main character Hiiro, while M.A.O is voicing the heroine Salaat. The additional cast includes (Note: The character name spellings have not been officially confirmed):

  • Maaya Uchida as Erin
  • Taiten Kusunoki as Giruu
  • Arisa Ogasawara as Tomitte
  • Shunsuke Sakuya as Nanbuuko
  • Mariya Ise as Sharisharei
  • Manami Numakura as Mumuu

The anime is set in a continent ruled by sword and magic called Kunaaan, where a power balance between the Holy Kingdom of Amoria, the Kingdom of Ishilfen, and the Vanrodis Kingdom keeps a peace so unstable that any tragedy that befalls any one kingdom will mean war for the entire continent. Another power, the evil dragon Daganzord, also resides on the continent, and no one is powerful enough to stop him from spreading destruction and charred land in his wake. Two individuals, Bairo and Kismitete, undertook a ritual alongside a party of wizards to seal Daganzord, but were foiled. This event was known thereafter as the Balbagoa Tragedy. Bairo and Kismitete's son Hiiro is saved by Giiru, and Hiiro swears to avenge his parents' deaths and trains himself with the sword. When Hiiro turns 16, he sets out on a journey to slay the dragon, and Giruu accompanies him, having no choice. Along the way, they meet many types of people, and gain companions on their journey.

Nobuhiro Kondo (Keroro Gunsō, Jewelpet: Magical Change) is directing the series at the studio Bridge (Fairy Tail, Nobunagun). Hiroshi Ohnogi (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Macross) is in charge of the series' scripts. Gō Tōgetsu is designing the characters for animation. Noboru Haraguchi (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Tokyo Ghoul) is directing the sound at Tohokushinsha Film. Maaya Uchida is performing the opening theme song "Resonant Heart."

The anime will have a stage event at the AnimeJapan 2016 event in March.

GREE released the Seisen Cerberus smartphone card battle role-playing game in 2011. Seijirō Narumi adapted the game into a manga series titled Seisen Cerberus: Mō Hitori no Eiyū in Kodansha's Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine in April 2013, and ended it in November of the same year. Kodansha published two compiled book volumes for the series.
