Tsugumomo OVA's Crowdfunding Reaches 2nd Goal for 20-Minute Runtime

OVA to bundle with manga volume in 2020

The crowdfunding campaign to fund a new original video anime (OVA) for the Tsugumomo anime franchise announced on April 19 that the campaign has reached its 6 million yen stretch goal (about US$53,500) to make the OVA have a runtime of 20 minutes or more. The campaign has earned 6,974,000 yen (about US$62,200) as of press time. The campaign will end on Friday.

The campaign launched on March 7, and reached its initial 3 million yen (about US$26,869) goal for a 10-minute episode after 14 hours.

The OVA will feature "slightly ecchi episodes that can't be broadcast on TV." The project will release a manga volume that will bundle the OVA in 2020. Depending on the funds raised, the length of the anime and number of episodes will increase. Ryōichi Kuraya will direct and write the script for the OVA, and Zero-G will animate it.

The anime will also get a second season titled Tsugu Tsugumomo that will premiere in 2020. Ryōichi Kuraya is returning to direct the season and handle series composition, and Zero-G will again animate the series.

The 12-episode first season premiered in April 2017, and Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired. Funimation released the anime on home video with "a combination of uncensored and TV broadcast materials based on what was available from the licensor" last May.

The anime are based on Yoshikazu Hamada's Tsugumomo manga.
