Medialink Entertainment announced on December 9 that it will open the two-film Seishun Kyо̄sо̄kyoku (Rhapsody of Youth) and Naa, Mirai. (Hey, Future.) compilation films for the Girls Band Cry anime in Taiwan. The first film will open on January 9, while the second film will open on January 30.

The first film opened in Japan on October 3, and the second film opened in Japan on November 14.

Kazuo Sakai (Love Live! Sunshine!!, Mushi-Uta) returned to direct the compilation films at Toei Animation. Jukki Hanada (Love Live! Sunshine!!) wrote the scripts, and nari Teshima again designed the characters. The series' insert song arranger Kenji Tamai is the films' music producer, and Yūsuke Tanaka (agehasprings) is again credited for the background music. Jae Hoon Jung returned along with new CGi director Daiki Nakazawa. Toei is distributing the films.

Toei Animation describes the anime:

The main character drops out of high school in her second year, and aims at entering a university while working alone in Tokyo. A girl is betrayed by her friends and doesn't know what to do. Another girl is abandoned by her parents, and tries to survive in the city by doing part-time jobs. This world lets us down all the time. Nothing goes as planned. But we want something that we can continue to like. We believe there's a place where we belong. That's why we sing.

The franchise is also getting a brand-new film.

The television anime premiered in April 2024 and aired for 13 episodes. Indonesia's Catchplay+ streaming service began streaming the anime in May 2024 with both Indonesian and English subtitles, making it the first service anywhere in the world to have English subtitles officially available for the anime. Thai distributor Cartoon Club announced in late June 2024 it would begin streaming the anime in July 2024, and that the anime will have a Thai dub, making the stream the first announced international dub for the title. Toei Animation released the anime in English digitally in North America in August 2024.
