Anime Expo 2012 Will Use New iPhone/iPad App To Crown The “Anime Karaoke MA'★”

LOS ANGELES (June 15, 2012) -- Anime Expo® -- North America's largest anime, manga and Japanese pop culture celebration, will take its karaoke competition to an exciting, high-tech level when it returns to the Los Angeles Convention Center on June 29 – July 2, 2012. Contestants will use the newly launched iPhone/iPad App, "Anime Karaoke Ma'★", to sing along with their favorite anime songs and compete for the best score given by anime character “Hoshino Sora,” the app's built-in Karaoke Android.

The “Anime Karaoke Ma'★" competition sponsored by Cool Japan Music takes place on June 30 from 5 – 7 p.m. The contestants will be cheered by J-pop star LiSA who appears in live concert at Anime Expo (AX). The number of acts is limited to 30 entries with 20 spots reserved for online entry before AX and the remainder reserved for sign-up at the event. To sign up online, please visit

In order to rehearse with the App, aspiring contestants can download it for free from iTunes US App Store; the App comes with a special promotion track, "Oath Sign", the opening track of "Fate/Zero", originally performed by LiSA. You can also subscribe to the App for $2.99 and have access to the entire catalogue or come to AX Karaoke Room during the open mic session for hands on practice.
