Puppies and Kitties in Need of Good Homes Among the Stars of the 2014 Shuto Con

Lansing, Mich., Feb. 14 - This April, Lansing anime convention Shuto Con will be home to a new breed of special guests: adoptable puppies and kitties.

Capital Area Humane Society will host a pet drive of animals in need of good homes during the convention at the Lansing Center on April 4-6 as the 2014 event charity sponsor.

"We chose CAHS to be our charity for 2014 because we wanted to do something this year for the shelter," said Stefanie Shall, event Chairwoman, “Then we thought, instead of just raising money for them, let's also run an adoption drive to help place some of their dogs and cats in forever homes!"

Shuto Con Membership Badge holders will be able to come in and meet and play with the adoptable animals on Sunday afternoon of the convention for a donation and take them home for a small adoption fee.

"We got the idea from the Cat Cafe's they have in Tokyo. These are places where people can come in and pay a small fee for spending time with cats (and dogs too). Colleges also do similar programs for students that want to spend time with an animal to relieve stress, but don't have the housing to keep an animal" said Shall.

Many other special guests will also be in attendance to meet attendees (but no petting, please!), sign autographs, and discuss their work on many popular anime movies and television series.

Guests include:
Jamie Marchi (Witchblade, Borderlands II), Tyson Rinehart (Steins;Gate, High School DxD), Ian Sinclair (Legend of the Legendary Heroes, Princess Jellyfish), Chris Rager (Dragon Ball Z, One Piece), Monica Rial (Deadman Wonderland, Excel Saga), Mary Elizabeth McGlynn (Ghost in the Shell, Code Geass), Rikki Simons (Invader Zim), Tavisha Wolfgarth-Simons (writer of Reality Check, @tavicat), and Sarah Sullivan (production for Princess Jellyfish, Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE).

Several bands will also perform a concerts throughout the weekend including: I Fight Dragons, The Pillowcases, Knight of the Round, Super Guitar Brothers, and Professor Shy guy.

Shuto Con has expanded and lengthened the two-day electronic music dance will new DJs: DJ Jeffito , DJ Bad Corey, and several others.

More information about individual guests can be found at shutocon.com/guests.html

Due to the expansive growth experienced by the convention, an attendance cap of 7,000 badges will be put in place this year consisting of 4,000 pre-registration online badges and 3,000 at-door badges (a mix of weekend and one-day registrations). People desiring to visit the convention over the course of the weekend are highly encouraged to pre-register on the Shuto Con website.
