I was just remembering this scene in BECK that really moved me and I was wondering what specific scenes in anime have moved you. For me it was that scene in BECK where:
In episode 24 spoiler[after Koyuki starts playing "I've Got A Feeling" and he's all alone and then they show Saku playing the drums. That scene where they sorta zoom in on Saku playing the drum while they do a minor rotation to get a better view was moving not in an emotional way but in a way where I enjoyed the song a lot more.] Also another moving scene to me was in episode 26 or was it 27 of Naruto spoiler[when they are taking the first part of the Chuunin Exam and they are faced with the 10th and final problem. After Naruto stands up against Ibiki and proclaims that he isn't scared of the problem and chooses to take it while inspiring those around him was quite moving. My choice would be the last scene of Grave of the Fireflies. When the station workers spoiler[come across the brother's body and toss out the tin with his sister's treasures in it. Then you see her waiting for him to join her. Then you see them sitting on a bench overlooking modern Tokyo.] The whole is difficult to watch, but that part is the worst.
Made me cry watching it. Made me cry just now remembering it.

Oh god, there is so many times.
In FMA when spoiler[Hughes dies and is being buried when her daughter starts crying and asking for him back and telling him to get up. ] In Cowboy Bebop in like episode 5 when spoiler[ spike has to face his old friend and look at his past. ] The whole end of evangelion really moved me . . . . into a 2 week severe depressed state instead of only a moderate state at which i'm usually at. In FLCL in the last episode when spoiler[ the main charcter steals what vespa lady was after, kisses her and tells her he loves her. The picture that was taken was perfect] In The Ghost in The Shell(movie) when spoiler[ major dives into the phantom hacker and they were talking about existance and believing in selfs existance and merging systems. ] edit* how could i forget in the last episode of Elfen Lied during the last scene where spoiler[ a shadow is behind the gate and the clock starts working. Mine was a latter episode of Cowboy Bebop where Edward Wan Hau Pepulu Tivrusky IV spoiler[left the Bebop.] It was my first anime where I experienced the spoiler[loss of a favorite character.] This scene made me look at anime in a totally different manner.

I'd have to say, FMA when spoiler[Huyes dies and Ed looks out the window of the train and see's his ghost I guess waving good bye.] because you knew there was no possibility of them figuring out some way for him to come back. Makes me sad just thinking about it.

I would have to say all of Whisper of the Heart. If you have seen it you will know why.
Also in Trigun when spoiler[Wolfwood dies, and he is smoking bent over his cross, and he says, "this tastes good", get me everytime man, I can't help but tear up"] Also in Cowboy Bebop in the episode when spoiler[Spike gets thrown out the window, that whole sequence all the way to where faye hits him and he picks up the ace of spades, and then it says see you space cowboy.] I wouldn't say it makes me tear up, but man is that a moving sequence. The end of Noir is excellent in my eyes, it moves me in a happy way actually. In the Crest/Banner of Stars When spoiler[Lafiel demands Jinto not call her your majesty, the way she says it I guess, course the way she does anything is great.] In Gungrave at the end when spoiler[Brandon Heat does not kill Harry, and in fact tries to help him. After all the crap he has been through, what loyalty!] My face was totally wet for that. |

In Grave of the Fireflies, spoiler[When Setsuko is dumping the fireflies into the whole she dug, and her saying "Why do fireflies have to die so quickly?". In that scene, the most affecting part is the parallel between the dead fireflies going into the grave and their mother, and that the fireflies symbolize people.] I cried bigtime at that scene.
In FMA, after spoiler[Al rescued Ed from Barry the Chopper and Ed says (something along the lines of) "Were only humans. Were not gods, and no one is going to help us, so we have to help each other. ] and in the episode "The Untainted Child", when spoiler[Al had a hunch about the boy and asked Winry to check something about his body. She replied "You mean the scars? Yeah, I was wondering about that. They go all the way around the base of his right arm and left leg." [cue the freaky music]] It was just so dramatic, I couldn't help myself. |

Hmmm, one of these threads seems to pop up every couple of months, doesn't it? And a lot of this same ground is already covered in the trying not to cry thread, so I won't go into reiterating my picks here.
Actually, as one finds out later in the movie, spoiler[that tin doesn't contain his sister's treasure. It contains his sister's teeth and ashes.] Looking back on that scene from the end makes it all the more heartbreaking. |

After glancing at these spoilers, I'm guessing that IchigoK90 is asking about scenes that are "moving" in the sense of being inspirational or "this is so cool!", not necessarily about straight-up tearjerker scenes. Am I right? (After all, there is this thread for all your crying confession needs  )
For me, a scene like this would be in the first season of Full Metal Panic, episode 7, where spoiler[Sousuke is carrying Chidori and Kurz in the hands of his mech and proceeds to fight off various other AS's and helicopters; this is all while running down a long hill to conclude with a spectacular jump onto the just-surfaced Tuatha de Danaan.] The very John Williams-esque music helps a great deal to add to the payoff of those action scenes. (In fact, I re-watched the scene while writing this post, and it had exactly the same effect.) Another one from a much older anime is from Sherlock Hound, where in episode 10, spoiler[Mrs. Hudson and Watson chase via car Holmes' plane, which Prof. Moriarty, intending to blow it up, had snagged with a grappling hook. At one point, Mrs. Hudson says, "Watson, give me your gun!", the music shifts, and Hudson displays excellent marksmanship in shooting the rope connecting the planes, thus defeating Moriarty once again.] <--sure, maybe not the most realistic, but that scene alone was cool enough to make me want to hunt down the DVDs 15+ years after first seeing it. |

I agree with Zalis that this is not another "Trying Not To Cry". It can also be inspirational scenes.
I do not have any memmories of an inspirational anime scene or Hollywood movie scene for that matter. I chose a sad moment because it "inspired" me to watch more anime because of the character development and the fear of loss that is not exhibited in the majority of American cartoons. Some do have losses, but none was as memmorable as this scene. |

IA few animes I can remember distinctly. I remember watching Jin - roh The Wolf Brigage when the ending spoiler[through you off completely when he killed the little girl]. Also right before the ending of Samurai Champloo spoiler[when you thought Jin had died] . The end of Basilisk was sad as well spoiler[with the two tribes forced to kill eachother off].

too too too many to remember off the top of my head. a few would have to be Gankutsuou where spoiler[in the duel the count shows no mercy for Franz and basically destroys him and at the end of the duel with Albert trying to comfort him ]another would have to be in Last Exile when spoiler[you have the flashbacks of Dio and Lucciola's past as children] i found both of those memorable

The scene that moved me the most was in Fruits Basket. Towards the end of the episode where spoiler[Tohru went to live with her grandfather, and the guys went to take her back. The scene at the end when Riceball was called in their game of Fruits Basket was mindblowing.] Instead of really touching me, since I'm never very emotionally involved with anything, this scene made me feel good about watching it. This is the type of stuff that I really respect, and this is definitely the most powerful scene that I've ever seen in anime.
