Poor guy lost his voice and has found out his cancer is back. I wish him the best. I also commend him for not giving up even after all that. Definitely someone to look up to from what I see here.

That's a horrible thing to have to happen to him as a music producer, to have his vocal cords removed. Even if he got artificial ones, it wouldn't be nearly as usable as the natural ones.

Also, I have to say that this is an unfortunate typo too:

Tsunku had announced in March 2014 that he had laryngeal cancer and would halt all his pubic activities.

Sad to hear.

I enjoy listening to the Orphen songs, he also did a nice duet with Ayumi Hamasaki called Love Scene 1999.

I don't mean any disrespect, but is he never going to talk again?

After vocal cord removal your options are pretty limited. You can make yourself understood with devices such as an electrolarynx. But obviously unfortunately such a device isn't a nice substitute, it gives quite a harsh electronic tone. It isn't very nice to listen to the sound from such a device. As for your normal talking voice, yes that is gone forever.

EDIT: You can see one interview about electrolarynx's here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mnAq-M6Ldtw

Damn. I cant even imagine how I'd feel if that happened to me. I wish him well. I loved the opening to Orphen, and it was one of my favorite things about the anime.

Wow. That is crazy. I don't think I have ever come across someone who has had to have their vocal cords removed.

I feel sorry that Tsunku had to have his vocal cords removed. Sad I can't imagine the sheer difficulty of communication one faces when his voice is no more forever.

I'm very sorry to hear about that. I guess that mean he's not going to ever speak again. I hope he'll communicate by other mean like he using text or sign language to cope with that.

Not as naturally because your natural talking tubes have been removed. Sure, there are devices that can help you with limited speech, but the voice that makes you who are is essentially gone.

That's a big decision he's made. Hope that'll keep the cancer from coming back, although - based on other cancer-based removals - the chances of the cancer coming back are still pretty high. He needs to keep checking in with the hospital to make sure he's OK from now on.

And I can't be the only one who saw that ->

He had made a surprise visit at Osaka's Kinki University's entrance ceremony

and thought of that.

Y'know I always had the sneaking suspicion that he wasn't well. Now this proves it. That's really a shame. Man the Japanese really need to cut back on the smoking because it is killing them.
