It sounds decent enough, but it's too bad the dialect is completely lost.

Indeed, they studied it for a long time, I wait for the second season! I think that it will air in 2027 as the remaining 4 volumes of the manga will be released.

i hope the dialogue isn't dumbed down, watched in sub - great. I have to watch it again with my family in dub, guess I will find out.

Nobody has no Southern accents in it. Did the translators think it was too cliche to use Southern accents for the dub?

I can't get a straight answer on if this is a yaoi or not?

Why do they intentionally fudge up pronouncing people’s names? It’s never been HE- karu. They did the same thing with ME-yah-no by changing it to MEah-no. There is also no southern dialect used. This is why I don’t watch dubs.

Well, I mentioned this on some previous articles, but there's been a bit of controversy in regards to Spanish translation of The Summer Hikaru Died, because on both the sub and dubbed versions, in both European and Latin American Spanish versions, they translated one of the most important lines as "Me caes bien", which is the Spanish equivalent of "I like you", instead of something more romantic like "Te amo" or "Me gustas", people were talking about queer erasure and the like, which is kind of weird because Hikaru's dub VA in the Latin American Spanish dub is openly LGBT. And I say this is weird considering there's plenty of LGBT content on Netflix, and other streaming services, dubbed and translated without similar issues and some of them are even rated suitable for all ages.

Same thing happened with the Evangelion Netflix dub. They changed Kaworu saying “I love you” to spoiler[Shinji] to “You are worthy of my grace.” which completely erases their relationship.[/spoiler]

Not quite sure what's going on with The Summer Hikaru Died, but as far as the Eva redub goes, every poor translation decision made there was courtesy of Khara not Netflix (with pretty much all the same clunkiness being in the Khara redubs of the Rebuild films on Amazon as well)and was stuff the former actively pushed for. I doubt Netflix had any real contribution to that dub besides footing the bill

The thing is that Netflix's Evangelion Latin American Spanish re-dub did translate Kaworu's last words as "Te amo", lit. I love you, so people are really confused with the translator's decision with Hikaru's translation.

The new Evangelion translation was done by Khara/Anno themselves and is more accurate than the older one. Even if people like to meme the scene, a lot of the older lines aren't really accurate like Shinji's infamous "I'm so fucked up". If you have issue with the newer, more accurate translation of the series, blame the original translation for misleading you all those years ago

Glad they're finally getting around to releasing a dub.
