This would already look bad even without knowledge of the flagrant use of AI in the announcement trailer (and who knows how much else in this trailer), but it especially hurts when the only actual Yokai Watch news is for a Wibble Wobble mobile game event. And even there it's pretty obvious parts of the animation were AI generated or assisted!

I don't believe this because this this looks exactly like Link's Awakening and the DQ7 remake's plastic miniature style which people praised. I think it's precisely because some people know Level-5 is ok with using AI for development that people will automatically dislike anything they do regardless of actual quality just on principles sake which makes it hard to really take people's judge of quality seriously because we know people aren't actually talking about quality. Unless someone can actually say what specific parts of the gameplay trailer was made with AI and able to spot it out but there's always a lot of false-positives in these witchhunts as we've seen so good luck doing that.

This is from a presentation where they talk about how much they love using AI (not even a couple weeks after they put out a terrible AI generated April Fools video about a fake theme park) and as I already mentioned featured other trailers that very obviously make use of it. Also, you know, as I also mentioned this whole project was introduced with an AI slop trailer. So it hardly seems a stretch or "automatically disliking everything they do" to have some degree of pattern recognition, nor is there any reason to assume good faith in Level-5 beyond wanting to complain broadly about "witchhunts". At which point you wouldn't even be actually talking about the subject at hand lmao

Level 5 has always had a quirky, sometimes nonsensical style, so I don't want to attribute every "odd looking" thing to AI, but knowing they use AI for concept designs (especially for this game) and probably much more by now, I really can't trust them anymore. It's unfortunate because they were my favourite developer.

The only prob I have with this, is how outdated the ghosts in this game are. Pikotaro's hit song was around 10 years ago. They gotta scrap this quick and try again with fresher, newer acts.

The game looks fine to me other than the fact it looks like a copy of Takara's failed Kamiwaza Wanda franchise from around a decade ago. Maybe Level 5 will have better luck with the same concept.

If you told me this was some odd NFT project where they just threw a bunch of concepts at the wall to see what stuck, I'd believe it. It just has that vibe to it. A lot of fancy moving parts, but beneath the surface there isn't really much to explore.
