Egad, it is as if my childhood never left, instead being slowly warped to reflect my changing whims and caprices.

I don't there's been one of these stop motion to CG switches that haven't completely lost the charm of the original.
While it's obviously faster, and in theory cheaper, than stop motion, with any animation change that involves saving money there's always been the implied insult of "Oh kids won't even notice". Which has never been the case.
They notice, grow up, and complain long into adulthood about how their favourite cartoons were ruined. Or worse, the change happens between being a kid and having their own kids. Then they turn on kids TV for their child and all of sudden their charming childhood favourite is now a monstrous digital ghost.

This project announcement was worth it just for this post.

It is not like we had much of a choice! Pingu's linguistic ambiguity granted it a narrative freedom that was denied of Fireman Sam and the like.

This was one of those shows that I only vaguely remember. My older brothers vividly remember this show, but I was still too young to recall it in its entirety. Only bits and pieces. Sled. Little female penguin. A scene where he cries his eyes out. Looks like a good time to reconnect with my hazy childhood.

The shift from claymation to CG will be jarring but at least these guys are mostly competent.
Noot noot.

I hope this doesn't interfere with Knights of Sidonia season 3. Why is ANN reporting on this, but they don't have an article about the announcement of Knights of Sidonia season 3 and Blame! movie 2.
