Wow, was not expecting them to bring back the live-action franchise and actually complete the story with a proper trilogy.
What's next? Bleach live-action coming back and adapting the Soul Society arc? |

Actually kind of surprised that this even got sequels. The first movie wasn't great in my opinion but cool for people who enjoyed it

I'm gonna watch both movies just out of morbid curiosity, because the 1st really sucked and I'm not hyped for this live-action stuff. There's always the Brotherhood anime to enjoy the actual story, though.

The first film was alright nothing outstanding I may check these out if they drop on netflix in the future like the first film did.

Just the other day I was thinking if they were going to continue with this project, honestly unlike other adaptations like Cowboy Bebop or the upcoming One Piece show Fullmetal would work as a live-action series made in the west. I wonder if this is going to be realeased outside Japan, the first one was delisted from Netflix earlier this year, at least in my region.
Something interesting was that, unlike the first two anime which were dubbed into Neutral Spanish in Venezuela, the live-action film was dubbed in México but Alphonse's voice actor, Jhonny Torres, managed to reprised his role since he moved from Venezuela to Mexico. And just last year Funimation released a re-dub for Brotherhood (FMAB's original dub had many problems due to it being rushed) done in Mexico, Jhonny was able to reprise his role again but they also managed to bring back Edward's original voice actor, José Manuel Viera, and that's impressive since he also moved from Venezuela and now he lives in Spain (he recorded his lines remotely). Some voice actors who worked in the live-action also worked in the re-dub as well, Winry's voice actress managed to voice the anime version, Shou Tucker's actor voiced the Dwarf in the Flask while Hughe's actor voiced Tucker and child Alphonse's actor voiced Pride. |

Please be better than the first movie. Please be better than the first movie. I thought the cast was fine for the most part but holy cow; I thought it just dragged for most of the run time. I do wonder if they're going to try and tie Scar into the endgame a bit more, doubly so if its the first one that's coming out.
I know you're probably joking but I would absolutely love this. I actually really dug the Bleach movie, more so than I was expecting given how everybody talked about it. I think casting Fukushi as Ichigo was perfect since I recall joking about how he'd make an excellent Ichigo when Kamen Rider Fourze was airing. His chemistry with Sugisaki was actually pretty good too and would've probably made the movie a lot worse had it not been there considering how much time is spent just with the two of them. The only issue with the Soul Society arc being adapted is the pacing. The original movie didn't have great pacing to begin with but the Soul Society arc has so much more stuff going on in comparison that it'd make the first movie's compression feel like it did nothing wrong. I remember hearing that a follow-up to the first movie was greenlit, but this was quite a while back and I had heard nothing else since. How is Japan so good at keeping their movie projects secret? It's no surprise to me that this news would get a mixed reception, but I enjoyed the first movie for what it was and am very open to seeing the Japanese re-interpretation of the rest of the story and how they arrange it into its own epic trilogy.
Now if only the same could happen for Bleach... |

I don't know how they're going to stretch this out to three movies as I recall the original film rushed through a ton of content and got pretty far in the story. I wasn't really all that impressed with the first film. The casting was ok and it had nice visuals but it lacked the heart of the anime.

Weren't both crical and commercial reception of the first film... so-so, to say the least?
Surprised this has sequel instead of Gintama getting the 3rd film. |

I don’t know, maybe cast somebody with talent? I’m not sure why they made more of these. The first movie was the definition of forgettable mediocrity. |

27 volumes = 6 and half hours of footage. Bravo. Kenshin doing it right was a fluke. Lone Wolf & Cub 1-4 are also pretty respectable. (This 6 part series ventured off into original territory by the end.) Hollywood will get better at this faster than Japan.
