Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine is celebrating 50 years but it's still playing catch-up to Milton Bradley's Game of Life. The 150-year-old board game sends players around a twisty-turning path picking up spouses, college degrees, paychecks, and babies along the way. Players will find themselves on detours and sometimes in debt in what is a pretty mundane and streamlined recreation of real-life.
Monkey D. Luffy and Asta don't have time for a vacation to Mount Rushmore when there's treasure to be found and wizard battles to win. That's why the Weekly Shōnen Jump 50th anniversary edition is updating the game a bit for a different kind of fantasy life.
Players take on the role of Luffy (One Piece), Asta (Black Clover), Shōyo Hinata (Haikyu!!), Izuku Midoriya (My Hero Academia), Tanjiro (Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba), Emma (The Promised Neverland), Ryotsu (Kochikame), or Goku (Dragon Ball).
This version of the game also changes up the cards with items from Weekly Shonen Jump series like Devil Fruit, Dragon Balls, and even the Death Note.
The game is scheduled for release in Japan in July for 4,500 yen (US$42) via Takara Tomy.
