USMC, Pioneer unofficially announce more DVD's, ADV hosts poll

posted on

According to Diamond's January issue of Previews, U.S. Manga Corps is planning on releasing a Dominion Tank Police DVD set. This will comprise the entire first OAV series (NOT Crusher Dominion, or "New Tank Police" as Manga Video called it), and is expected to see an April '99 release, although an exact date has not yet been specified. (Central Park Media, USMC's parent company, will be producing this DVD in-house, according to AnimeOnDVD.com.) The DVD is listed at $39.95.

In the same issue of Previews, it was revealed that Pioneer has announced its first DVD re-release of its back catalog. The Tenchi Muyo! Collection THX Boxed Set will contain the entire 13 episode first Tenchi Muyo! OAV series and will retail for $119.98. Two of the three discs in the set will contain the anime itself, while the third disc will contain many bonuses, possibly including the New Tenchi Muyo Encyclopedia. No further details are available at the moment, but the set is expected to be released in March or April of next year. (There is some conflicting information, such as a THX approval on a non-theatrical release.)

AnimeOnDVD.com also reports that, buried in ADV Films' web page that there is a poll asking for feedback on what ADV series they would like to see the most on DVD. (Choices include Sol Bianca, Blue Seed, Gunsmith Cats, Battle Angel, and Golden Boy.) The poll can be seen far down on the page http://www.advfilms.com/advhome/cons/interviews/interviews.html, which also notes that Evangelion is not a choice because "it's a given that everyone wants it."
