Adaptation of Ritz Kobayashi's manga to premiere on Japanese TV on April 5

The official website for the anime adaptation of Ritz Kobayashi's Saki high school mahjong manga has begun streaming a second 90-second promotional movie on Thursday. (In the linked page, select the illustrated button with the Japanese text "PV第二弾公開!") The story centers around Saki Miyanaga, a timid freshman girl who has never enjoyed the Asian tile game of mahjong. However, another freshman brings her into their high school's mahjong club and into the competitive world of mahjong tournaments. The series will premiere on Japanese television on April 5.

Manabu Ono (Dragonaut - The Resonance, Transformers: Cybertron) will direct, and Tatsuhiko Urahata (Card Captor Sakura, Hajime no Ippo, Strawberry Panic!) will be in charge of scripts. Masakatsu Sasaki (Erotic Torture Chamber) will design the characters and oversee the animators at Gonzo. As the title character of Saki, Kana Ueda leads a cast that includes Ami Koshimizu and Rie Kugimiya.
