#1's Gundam UC sells 56,000; early orders put Eva 2.22 in top 20

The first volume of Kazuhiro Furuhashi and Sunrise's Mobile Suit Gundam UC video anime series has sold 56,000 Blu-ray Discs since March 8 to top both Evangelion: 1.11 You Are (Not) Alone (Evangelion Shin Gekijōban: Jo) and Summer Wars as the #1 anime Blu-ray in first-week sales in Japan. Evangelion: 1.11 sold 49,000 copies in its first week of sales last year, and Summer Wars sold 54,000 earlier this month. Gundam UC is now the #2 Blu-ray overall in first-week sales; Michael Jackson's This Is It music documentary film is the only Blu-ray Disc to sell more copies than Summer Wars. Bandai Visual announced on Wednesday that it shipped 75,000 Blu-rays of the first volume of Gundam UC.

The Animelo Summer Live 2009 RE:BRIDGE 8.23 concert DVD rose from #14 to #10 in its third week, and the 8.22 counterpart rose from #18 to #15. The standard edition of Yukihiko Tsutsumi's third live-action film based on Naoki Urasawa's 20th Century Boys suspense manga dropped from #9 to #16. Evangelion: 2.22 You Can (Not) Advance will not ship until May 26, but early orders ranked it at #19 already.
