Vampire Knight -Revive- Stage Play's TV Ad Streamed

2nd production with new cast member as Kain opens in July

Pia began streaming a television ad on Thursday for Vampire Knight -Revive-, production company Nelke Planning's second stage play of Matsuri Hino's Vampire Knight manga.

The play will run from July 1 to 5 at the Owl Spot theater in Tokyo's Ikebukuro district. In the new play, Ayana replaces oni as Akatsuki Kain.

Root, a female model of "Boys-style" clothing, Nogizaka46 idol group member Yumi Wakatsuki, and "Boys-style" model Akira are returning to reprise their roles as Zero, Yūki, and Kaname, respectively. The play features an all-female cast.

Kōji Tokuo wrote the script, and Shinnosuke Motoyama (choreographer on The Prince of Tennis and Macross the Musicalture musicals) is returning to direct. ALGONQUINS provided assistance for the costumes. The first musical adapting the manga premiered in January 2015.

The manga revolves around Yūki, a high school girl whose unique school features a "day class" of normal kids and a "night class" of vampires. She works with her adopted father and headmaster to prove that vampires can coexist with humans peacefully, but the school — and the vampires — hide many secrets.

Hino launched the manga in LaLa in 2004, and the manga ended in 2013. Hakusensha published the 19th and final compiled book volume in November 2013, and Viz Media published the last volume in October 2014 in North America. Viz also released the 2008 Vampire Knight anime series and its Vampire Knight Guilty followup.
