The official English Twitter account for the television anime of Aneko Yusagi's The Rising of the Shield Hero (Tate no Yūsha no Nariagari) fantasy light novel series announced on Wednesday that it will begin debuting the first six episodes of the anime's English dub at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Each episode will debut 15 minutes apart.
Future dubbed episodes will debut on the same days as the English-subtitled simulcast episodes. Crunchyroll is referring to the series as an "instant dub."
Crunchyroll confirmed the main cast. Billy Kametz is voicing Naofumi Iwatani and Erica Mendez is voicing Raphtalia, as previously announced.
Crunchyroll and Funimation Entertainment originally announced plans to debut the English dub on January 9, the same day the show premiered on AT-X in Japan. However, the staff announced on January 8 that the dub would be delayed.
The series was scheduled to launch on Crunchyroll with English subtitles on January 9, but Crunchyroll streamed the first 45-minute English-subtitled episode early on January 5. The series will run for 25 episodes.
Update: Brianna Knickerbocker confirmed that she is still voicing Filo.
Update 2: Crunchyroll began streaming a preview video that confirms more of the cast. As previously announced Alan Lee will play Ren Amaki (the Sword Hero), Xander Mobus will play Motoyasu Kitamura (the Spear Hero), and Erik Scott Kimerer will play Itsuki Kawasumi (the Bow Hero). Faye Mata will play Myne.
