Chi the cat is just adorable. There are some books in this guide that aren't necessarily going to be recommended to a wide range of audiences. Sometimes there are people who come to this guide just looking for a nice book or story to buy for their kids or for their school. I think the Chi books are good examples of stories that don't really ask a lot of you as a reader but offer an ultimately wholesome experience from beginning to end. I've seen this cat everywhere, and it's nice to finally give him more exposure here. There is technically a story here, but ultimately it is as simple as it comes in a very endearing way.

Chi is just a normal cat that likes to roam around and enjoy herself while getting into occasional shenanigans. In this book, she and her family end up moving to France and have to adjust to the fact that she can't roam around as freely as she would like to. There are a lot of very nice shots that are actually kind of melancholy, where Chi just yearns to go outside and run around to meet up with other cats, but it's not typically allowed in some of the more populated areas of France. She tries to make the best of the situation, and so does the family that she lives with, which is the closest thing to a conflict that this book has. The rest of it is very simple yet effective drawings with some nice landscapes and panel layouts. The ending is incredibly sweet and a little bit easy, but this isn't really a story that's going for a complicated solution for an ultimately simple setup. This is the textbook definition of a good children's book, and if you're looking for something along that vein, then I think this is probably the perfect thing to get from this entire guide.
