Guess the price drop for all consoles, games, and PC components is over so they'll continue to raise the prices every year with no discounts.

The writing is on the wall and we can thank all the AI Tech Bros for this.
Good thing I bought my Switch 2 at launch, at least I bought it on a "cheaper" price. If anyone is still on the fence of getting one, now is the time to buy a Switch 2 before the price increase increase takes effect. |

wow...um...i still don't have much of a reason to buy it, so i don't know if i should be grinning or not...
in all seriousness, yeah, it's frustrating. what's funny is nintendo literally a few months ago said they wouldn't raise the price. and the price was already pretty steep AS IS. but, then again, i kinda feel more bad for japan, because the prices are getting hit quicker, and higher... y'know, i can't wait for the ps6, it's gonna be a bloodbath. |

With this, it pretty much confirms I wait until the next generation before I get another Nintendo console. I had considered getting a Switch 2 before its initial price reveal, and then this increase (along with a lack of interesting exclusives) sealed the deal. Then I thought about getting a Switch 1, but that also got an increase which reduced my motivation. Even with Sony I will probably skip PS6 if it repeats PS5 since I could get a PS7 and play the games I missed if backwards compatibility is included.
Right now, I'm just looking into how to play my old PS2 and PS3 games I have physical copies of. |

I've delayed getting a Switch 2 due to still having a backlog of Switch games I've purchased and haven't gotten to yet. I'm still on the fence about picking one up but this might be the motivation to get one sooner.

AI isn't the only factor, it has to be combined with a larger picture. We got an imbecile in the WH who has done a massive amount of damage on a worldwide scale. Everything from illegal tariffs that took a full year for the supreme court to strike down, and then the imbecile put out another round of illegal tariffs that again another court had to strike. Then there is the war in Iran, a war that the imbecile in the WH has claimed is over now and everything is fine and dandy. We got massive amounts of international market uncertainty and climbing basic living expenses such as food and fuel. If AI produced a shortage on chips, the shortages of fuel and liquid gases has accelerated the inflation production costs at just about every level of computer manufacturing. From the chips, the plastic that goes into the shell casing. |

Yup, would not be surprised if the war was the tipping point and Nintendo was like "Well, crap." Between the tariffs, RAMpocalypse for a bubble ready to burst, and a meaningless war, it is ROUGH in tech right now. |

Yeah, shipping is shooting way up, not to mention plastic comes from natural gas and petroleum, if even the gas for cars is shooting up for that long and consistently than pretty much every consumer electronic is going to get way worse. Game streaming uses the same components and won't let us play games for any cheaper either, well just be paying the same prices on a monthly basis. I actually just read some info that other computer part sales are collapsing because no one can afford RAM or GPUs to put in motherboards and the like. AI is about to start burying business left and right. |

It's not just fuel. Liquid gases are also experiencing shortages from the Iran war. Liquid helium is used extensively in the production and development of computer parts. This useless and stupid war is an assault on international trade and manufacturing, it would be impossible for any electronics companies to keep their prices static when just about every facet and resource used is experiencing shortages. |

And once again, the result of any of this is the end customer pays more. Even if any of the current reasons for this alleviate, the recent years say that the price won't go down. We are now in a world where the first price ends up being the lowest price.

$50 dollars isn't terrible all things considered but if one does want a Switch 2 I suppose now is the best time to get one. I do miss when consoles decreased in price over time rather than increase even if they came with caveats like the second NES model losing video and audio quality or the 3DS losing 3D functionality.

They can add another $50 on top of this if they want as long as it is for an oled version.
