Just finished S16; feels like the recent seasons have gone downhill in terms of visual quality. Some episodes barely amount to animation, more like animated manga panels.

I mean, the show is literally imitating kamishibai (hence the name of the anime), which were simply still images that were accompanied by the narrator telling the story.

Yes, but there were a few where quality was different from that of other episodes. Probably a different episode director or something. Could be a stylistic choice too.

But honestly also felt like the stories have gotten more predictable/less impactful the more I watched.
