Voice of Fox Anime Reveals October 5 Premiere, Episode 1 Story Intro
posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
The staff for the television anime of Guang Xian Jun's Chinese comic Voice of Fox (Hu Li Zhi Sheng or Kitsune no Koe) unveiled the anime's premiere details and episode 1 story introduction on Wednesday. The anime will premiere on AT-X on October 5 at 10:30 p.m. It will then air on Tokyo MX on October 8 at 25:10 (effectively 1:10 a.m. on October 9), and on BS12 on October 10 at 26:00 (effectively 2:00 a.m. on October 11). The Chinese version will also stream on iQIYI beginning on October 8 at 12:00 a.m. (October 9 morning).
Cast members Kengo Kawanishi, Hisayoshi Suganuma, Satoshi Hino and Arisa Kōri will appear at two advance screenings of the first two episodes on September 29 in Tokyo's Aeon Cinema Chofu theater.
The plot of the Chinese comic (and the anime's episode 1 "Itsuwari no Koe" or False Voice, previewed in the images above) begins with a poor but talented high school boy named Hu Li (whose name is pronounced very similarly to the term for "fox" in Chinese). He gets through life day-by-day by going after part-time work. He gloomily watches the popular and narcissistic boy idol singer and dancer Kong Que (pronounced very similarly to "peacock" in Chinese) on TV all the time. One day when Kong is performing on a music show, Hu happens to be finishing a part-time gig at the television station. He mutters to himself, "This is my cue." Kong starts his performance, but what is Hu about to do next …
Hu eventually becomes a "ghost" singer/songwriter for Kong, who is very handsome but can barely sing. Hu always wear a fox mask to hide his large facial scar caused by a traffic accident. He also uses a screen name "Mr. Fox" to publish his music online.
The cast includes (from top to bottom in the image above):
- Kengo Kawanishi as Hu Li
- Hisayoshi Suganuma as Kong Que
- Arisa Kōri as Chuyun
- Satoshi Hino as Ji Hetian
- Sho Hayami as President Kim
(Not pictured)
- Yukiko Motoyoshi as Hongye
- Rena Maeda as Xueer
- Shiki Aoki as Yuxin
- Subaru Kimura as Zhang Yao
The game company Success is co-producing the anime with the restructured Yumeta Company and the Chinese video streaming site iQIYI. (iQIYI previously listed Tezuka Productions in its collaboration to produce Voice of Fox.)
Kōjin Ochi (Detective Conan, La Corda D'Oro - primo passo, Samurai Warriors) is directing the anime, and Yoshimi Narita (Yes! Precure 5, Kemeko Deluxe!, Saint Seiya Omega) is in charge of series scripts. Aki Tsunaki (Harukanaru Toki no Naka de: Maihitoyo, Chōyaku Hyakunin Isshu: Uta Koi, Samurai Warriors) is designing the characters, and Rie Nishimura is designing the props. LoveDesire is performing the opening theme song "Come:Back Stage!"
The collaborations are part of a larger move by iQiyi to produce animated titles, with the objective of being a production base for the Chinese animation industry. As of last year, another animated project based on Ma Boyong's Whales of Four Seas was also slated for 2018, and iQIYI was also planning an adaptation of The Demonic King Chases His Wife online novel.
