Sunrise Producer Kenji Uchida Promoted to President

At a general shareholders' meeting on April 25, the animation production company Sunrise promoted managing director Kenji Uchida as the fifth president in the company's history. Takayuki Yoshii, who has served as president for the last 14 years, will become chairman and CEO. Uchida has been a producer or planner in dozens of Sunrise works, including Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam, Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ, Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack, Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket, the two Turn A Gundam movies, and the Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam: A New Translation movie trilogy. He also supervised the English adaptation for the first Mobile Suit Gundam series, Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam, Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack, and Mobile Suit Gundam F91 for Sunrise.
Outside Gundam, he planned both Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion television series, Planetes, Overman King Gainer, and Banner of the Stars II. He also produced Freedom and supervised the English adaptations of The Big O and Overman King Gainer. He started on 1980's Muteki Robot Trider G7, one of the first projects of what was then Nippon Sunrise.
