The marketing survey firm Oricon Communications reported that Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli's Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind Blu-ray Disc sold 20,000 copies to rank #1 on the Blu-ray sales chart for the July 12-18 week in Japan. The 1984 film is the first Ghibli work to rank #1 in weekly Blu-ray sales. Walt Disney Japan released the film on the three formats in September 1997, November 2003, and July 2010, respectively.
