Perth Supanova Pop Culture Expo on this Weekend!

The fourth Supanova show of the year will be hosted at the Claremont Showgrounds from Friday the 28th to Sunday the 30th of June. Special guests include Christine Cabanos (Madoka Magica, K-ON!), Greg Cipes (Astro Boy, Ben 10, Teen Titans Go!) and Richard Horvitz.

  • When: Friday the 28th June (Supanova Preview Night) 6pm to 10pm, Saturday the 29th to Sunday the 30th (Main Show) 10am to 6pm.
  • Where: Robinson Pavillion, Claremont Showgrounds, 1 Graylands Road, Claremont, WA 6010.
  • How Much: Weekend Pass - $47.50 online $55.00 at the door. Day Pass - $27.50 online $30.00 at the door.

Christine Cabanos

Christine Cabanos is a fan who's love of the culture led her to pursue a career in voice acting. After working as a production assistant Christine received her first role as Azusa Nakano of K-ON! She has also voiced Shiemi Moriyama in Blue Exorcuse, Haruka in Oblivion Island, Silica in Sword Art Online, the titular character in Squid Girl and last but not least Madoka Kaname in Puella Magi Madoka Magica. And in terms of video games, Christine has voiced Filia in Skullgirls and Nepgear in Hyperdimension Neptunia. If you would like to see Christine, she will be hosting the charity auction at 6:30pm on Opening Night (Friday) in the Madman National Cosplay Championship Theatre and be hosting the talk "Anime Queen" at 2:20pm Saturday and 1:30pm Sunday in the Supanova Pop Culture Expo Seminars room.

Greg Cipes

Greg Cipes is a multi-talented voice actor who has exactly one anime VA role, Atlas in the 2003 Astro Boy series. However he's also the voice of Beast Boy in the cartoon series Teen Titans and DC Universe Online, Keven Levin in Ben 10 Alien Force, Ultimate Alien and Omniverse, Iron Fist in Ultimate Spider Man and is the voice of Michaelangelo in the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Most recently Greg has returned at the voice of Beast Boy for new cartoon series Teen Titans Go! Greg will hosting "Greg Cipes: Ultimate Alien, Iron Fist or Turtle?" at 11:00am on Saturday and 11:50am on Sunday in the Madman National Cosplay Championship Theatre.

Richard Horvitz

Richard Horvitz is most commonly known as the voice of Invader Zim, however Richard started as a child actor before moving onto voice acting in the early 90's starting with Alpha 5 on Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers. He went onto voice several cartoon voices including Daggett from Angry Beavers and Billy in The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy. Richard has been especially vocal in video games including Raz in Psychonauts, Kaos in the Skylanders series of games and Ziggs and Rumble in League of Legends. And finally Richard's one named anime voice acting role to date is Kanchome in Zatch Bell, but he is credited with additional voices on Pom Poko and Howl's Moving Castle. You can see Richard at 1:30pm on Saturday and 3:10pm on Sunday in the Madman National Cosplay Championship Theatre.
