P.A. Work's Shirobako TV Anime's 1st Promo Streamed

Series will get manga in Monthly Dengeki Daioh magazine on September 27

The official website for P.A. Work's original Shirobako television anime revealed its cast member's roles on Friday. A promotional video is also streaming at the Warner booth at Comiket.

Girls: Don-don donuts! Donuts, let's go!
Girl: We give all our dreams and hopes to anime! It was supposed to be a story where everything went perfectly well, but...
Text: It was supposed to be a story about girls who dedicated their life to animation...
Text: But now...
Aoi: I'm Aoi Miyamori, and my major is production!
Ema: I'm Ema Yasuhara, and I'm an animator.
Shizuka: I'm a new seiyuu named Shizuka Sakaki.
Misa: I'm Misa Tōdō, and I'm in charge of 3D CG.
Midori: I'm Midori Imai, and I'm a student. I'm aiming to become a writer.
Aoi: This story is about us five
Ema: And a lot of other people involved in animation,
Shizuka: Forced to learn about content cuts and pain, and the difference between ideals and reality, the girls forget the dreams they had begun to chase in the first place.
Misa: This influential work is now unveiled!
Midori: No! This is a thrilling and heart-warming story about all the people who work in the animation industry!
Midori: Come on, don't just stand there being amazed! The broadcasting day is right in front of us! We don't have any time to be standing still!
Aoi: Yeah! Now then... To all the people who work with animation production!
Ema: To the past, present and future of animation
Midori: And to all the people who love animation!
Shizuka: The wished-for second anime from P.A. Works about working girls! The 'now' of animation production is right here.
Girls: TV anime, SHIROBAKO! Broadcasting starts in October 2014! Look forward to it!

The series stars:

  • Juri Kimura (Nagi no Asukara) as Aoi Miyamori
  • Haruka Yoshimura (Riddle Story of Devil, Sora no Method) as Ema Yasuhara
  • Hitomi Ohwada as Midori Imai
  • Asami Takano as Misa Tōdō
  • Haruka Chisuga (Soul Eater Not!, Zetsumetsu Kigu Shōjo Amazing Twins) as Shizuka Sakaki

Yoko Ishida will perform the opening theme, "Colorful Box," and Juri Kimura, Haruka Yoshimura, and Haruka Chisuga will perform the ending theme, "Animetic Love Letter."

Tsutomu Mizushima will direct the series at P.A. Works. Ponkan8 designed original characters and Kanami Sekiguchi adapted them for the anime series. Michiko Yokote is overseeing the series and Tsutomu Mizushima is directing the sound.

The series will premiere in Japan in October. The slogan on the website reads, “The 'now' in the animation business is right here.” A manga adaptation titled Shirobako ~Ueyama Kōkō Animation Dōkōkai (Shirobako: Ueyama High School Animation Club) by Mizutama will debut in the November issue of Kadokawa's Monthly Dengeki Daioh magazine on September 27.

P.A. Works' original anime Glasslip is currently broadcasting in Japan. Crunchyroll is streaming the anime as it airs, and Sentai Filmworks has licensed the series for North American release.
