Renowned Vocaloid Artists to Perform At North America's Biggest Anime Event, ANIME EXPO 2026
kz (livetune), Satapan-P, TeddyLoid, Hachiōji-P, and picco to Appear at Los Angeles Event
Tokyo, Japan – Dwango, a Japanese company operating digital content services including the video platform Niconico, announced that it will hold a new DJ event called “JAPAN MUSIC VOCALOID at Anime Expo 2026” on July 4, one of the largest anime conventions in the world, held in Los Angeles.
The lineup celebrates the history of Japanese Vocaloid music, featuring both pioneering producers who turned music built from the singing-synthesizer software into a phenomenon and new names warping it in new directions. Creators kz (livetune) and Hachiōji-P helped build the sonic vocabulary of Vocaloid in the late 2000s with a style merging club energy with pop hooks, and both have continued evolving in the years since. They'll be joined by special guest TeddyLoid, a hard-hitting producer who has dabbled in Vocaloid while also creating global hits for artists such as Ado, DAOKO and many more.
The new guard of Vocaloid is represented by a pair of artists approaching the style in drastically different ways. SatapanP mutates the technology into something frantic, always able to create catchy melodies underneath the frenzied sounds he works up. More Technicolor is picco, a creator who dubs her house-accented sound “Hyper Kawaii Music.” They show how the style continues to change and grow nearly two decades after its debut.
'JAPAN MUSIC VOCALOID' will be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center and is free to attend for all Anime Expo ticket holders.
Dwango is currently promoting the “Young Creator Discovery and Global Expansion Project through Niconico-led Initiatives,” supported by the Creator Support Fund. This project aims to nurture emerging creators involved in vocaloid music into globally influential talents. This event is part of that initiative. Moving forward, Dwango will continue to expand opportunities for creators to connect across borders with fans, production partners, and clients by participating in influential events worldwide, while fostering community building, resource sharing and networking.
