A lot of artist are moving to newgrounds, the staff are improving the servers capacity and sharing options to welcome all the new people, well, I hope it works... Being there or in any other website, artist deserve a place where they can stay safe and have liberty. Is really disgusting how tumblr prefers to throw away the users who made it grow (some of them very famous) just to get their app working on IOs.

Not really. One of the artist that got banned from this wave is anime (style) artist.

Seeing as how nipples aren’t genitals, the ban on female nipples alone seems rather silly. Why are male nipples fine but female nipples gets you flagged?

That's how it is in real life, though - For example, A man walk around topless on a beach, no one bats an eye. A woman walks around topless on a beach, everyone panics, scolds her, ect.
Considering that, I am not at all surprised that Tumblr is saying no to female nipples.

I guess tumblr wanted a truely safespace considering the internet is already full of porn.

Either way people will move on and tumblr will die a slow and painful death as people leave the platform as it has no use and can't compete with others in the "wholesome" domain and refuses to cater to it's previous clients.

Because 'murica. The only country more terrified of public exposure of women's nipples than public carriers of uh... weaponized metaphorical genitals. In fact, the latter is often encouraged.

Much as we might wish it will die out, Tumblr will likely survive this through the same apathy and intertia that keeps Facebook alive despite constant scandals and Orwellian advertising. Some people will leave, but others will join once it gets (back?) on the iOs store, and nothing will really change. Maybe, eventually, enough people will migrate to less horrible social networks and drain the current leaders of their userbase, but in a world where big business dominates practically everywhere, I can't see that happening. In the meantime, maybe I should try Mastodon or something.

Well its not like anyone didn`t forsee this. Those of us, who has been around since before Yahoo! bought Tumblr all foresaw this. I mean https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Yahoo!-owned_sites_and_services#Closed/defunct_services Yahoo is very good at discontinuing

Tumblr should focus on improving its algorithms, which it acknowledges makes mistakes, and the review process instead. It’s almost comical how badly things work with what gets flagged incorrectly and content that should be less accessible or, just not perpetuated in the first place. I hope those that are badly affected by this new policy are able to work out solutions in a swift manner.
