Additional details were revealed on Monday regarding the second season of the Pocket Monsters: Best Wishes! (Pokémon: Black and White) television anime series. The series will feature the appearance of the extremely rare telekinetic Pokémon Meloetta.
Meloetta is also starring in the first 2D theatrical short film for the franchise in nine years, titled Meloetta to Kirakira Recital. The short will open alongside the Gekijōban Pocket Monster Best Wishes! Kyurem Vs Seikenshi Keldeo (Pokémon: Black & White the Movie - Kyurem Vs. the Sacred Sword Master Keldeo) film on July 14.
Other characters appearing in the second season will include Sinnoh-region Champion Shirona (Cynthia), and Hikari (Dawn) and her Pokémon Piplup from the Pokémon - Diamond and Pearl video game and anime series. The new series will have Satoshi (Ash) reuniting with Shirona and traveling together to East Isshu. There, the characters will participate in a "Pokémon World Tournament Junior Cup" to be able to challenge Isshu-region Champion Adeku (Alder). A new rival for Satoshi will also appear in the series.
Magazine scans had revealed last weekend that Team Rocket boss Sakaki (Giovanni) will also appear in the new season. Pocket Monsters: Best Wishes! Season 2 will premiere on TV Tokyo on June 21 and will air on Thursdays at 7:00 p.m. in Japan.
