OAD begins streaming in December

Crunchyroll announced on Tuesday that it will stream the The Ancient Magus' Bride - The Boy from the West and the Knight of the Blue Storm original anime disc (OAD), Digimon Ghost Game, and World Trigger season 3 anime for the fall 2021 anime season.

Crunchyroll will begin streaming The Ancient Magus' Bride - The Boy from the West and the Knight of the Blue Storm (Mahō Tsukai no Yome: Nishi no Shōnen to Seiran no Kishi), the new original anime disc (OAD) project for Kore Yamazaki's The Ancient Magus' Bride (Mahō Tsukai no Yome) manga, in December in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and the Commonwealth of Independent States.

The three-episode OAD will be bundled with the limited editions of the manga's 16th, 17th, and 18th volumes. The 16th volume shipped on September 10. The 17th volume will ship on March 10, 2022, and the 18th volume will ship on September 10, 2022.

The staff describes the OAD series as the "first part" of the new anime project.

Yamazaki herself pens the story of the OAD, which is set some time before Chise enrolls in The College. The story begins with Spriggan visiting Chise and Elias' home, bringing news of a strange new Wild Hunt. Another part of the story will focus on Gabriel, a boy who has tired of parting with friends and living in an unfamiliar land and circumstances. He will part the veil that hides him from the world of magic.

Kazuaki Terasawa (Anonymous Noise episode director) is directing the anime at Studio Kafka, a new animation studio established specifically for the OAD project. Aya Takaha returns from the television anime to pen the script alongside Yoko Yonaiyama (Uma Musume Pretty Derby episode scriptwriter). Hirotaka Katō returns as character designer from the previous anime, and Junichi Matsumoto also returns to compose the music.

Crunchyroll will stream Digimon Ghost Game, the new television anime for the Digimon franchise, in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and the Commonwealth of Independent States.

The anime will premiere on Fuji TV on October 3 at 9:00 a.m.

Kimitoshi Chioka (Dragon Ball Super) and Masato Mitsuka (Digimon Adventure) are serving as series directors for the show at Toei Animation. Masashi Sogo (Fairy Tail) is in charge of the series scripts. Tenya Yabuno is the original character designer, and is also credited alongside Hiroshi Izawa for planning assistance. Mariko Itō is adapting Yabuno's characters for animation. Kenji Watanabe is the original character designer for the Digimon, and Cho Shinozuka is adapting those Digimon designs for animation. Mai Ichioka is the art director, and Toshiki Amada is credited for art setting. Akiyoshi Hongo is credited with the original work.

Crunchyroll will stream the World Trigger anime's third season in North America, Latin America, the Carribean, South America, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and the Commonwealth of Independent States.

The new season will premiere on October 9 on TV Asahi's NUMAnimation programming block and will air on Saturdays at 1:30 a.m.

Daisuke Ashihara debuted the World Trigger manga in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 2013. The manga went on hiatus in November 2016 due to Ashihara's poor physical health, and returned in the magazine in October 2018 for five issues before moving to Shueisha's Jump SQ. magazine in December 2018.

Viz Media and MANGA Plus both publish the series simultaneously in English digitally. Viz Media also publishes the manga in print.

The manga inspired two television anime in 2014 and 2015. The second season of the anime premiered on January 9 and aired for 12 episodes. Crunchyroll streamed the anime as it aired in Japan.
