posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
GKIDS revealed on Friday that it will screen the English dub premiere of Shinsuke Satō and Production I.G's Oblivion Island: Haruka and the Magic Mirror at the IFC Center in New York City on December 3-4 and 10-11. Each screening will be held at 11:00 a.m.
Oblivion Island is Production I.G's first 3D computer-animated feature. The film focuses on Haruka, an only daughter living with an emotional distant father. One day at a local shrine she encounters a small magical creature that takes her to the land of forgotten items. Here, she finds memorabilia from her childhood and the Baron, the ruler of Oblivion Island who has been watching her.
The film was nominated for the award for Excellent Animation of the Year at the 33rd Japan Academy Prize. TOHO released the film in Japan in theaters in August 2009. The film held its North American premiere in New York in October of that year. Funimation announced at New York Comic Con last month that it had licensed the film. The company plans to release the film on home video next year.
Funimation announced the dub cast for the film on Friday. The cast is as follows:
- Haruka - Christine Marie Cabanos
