One-Punch Man Season 3's Ad Announces October 5 Premiere, Staff (Updated)

The staff for the anime based on ONE and Yūsuke Murata's One Punch Man manga announced on Wednesday that the third season will premiere on October 5 at 11:45 p.m. JST (10:45 a.m. EDT) on the TV Tokyo, TV Hokkaido, TV Aichi, TV Osaka, TV Setouchi, and TV Kyushu channels. The staff also unveiled a visual and commercial that previews the new opening theme "Get No Satisfied!" song by JAM Project with metal group BABYMETAL.

The announcement also revealed more staff members for the anime. Shinpei Nagai (Inugami-san to Nekoyama-san, DOGEZA: I Tried Asking While Kowtowing.) is directing teh anime at J.C. Staff. Tomohiro Suzuki returns from previous seasons of the anime for series composition. Chikashi Kubota also returns from previous seasons as character designer, but this time alongside Shinjiro Kuroda and Ryōsuke Shirakawa. Sakura Murakami is now the art director (Murakami previously worked on background art for the second season, with Shigemi Ikeda and Yukiko Maruyama previously credited as art directors for the second season). Mayumi Tanahashi returns as color designer from the second season. Yuki Hirose is now the director of photography (replacing Yoshio Ōkouchi from the previous season). Masahiro Gotō, Yoshikazu Iwanami, and Makoto Miyazaki all return from the second season as editor, sound director, and music composer, respectively..

JAM Project performed the opening theme songs for the anime's first two seasons: "The Hero!! ~Ikareru Ken ni Honō o Tsukeru~" (The Hero!! Set Fire to the Furious Fist) and "Seijaku no Apostle" ("Uncrowned Greatest Hero"), respectively. JAM Project, which stands for Japan Animation-song Makers, features Hironobu Kageyama (Dragon Ball Z, Sonic X, Saint Seiya, Shin Getter Robo), Masaaki Endoh (Cowboy Bebop, GaoGaiGar: King of Braves, Cybuster), Hiroshi Kitadani (One Piece, Bakuto Sengen Daigunder, Saint Beast), Masami Okui (Revolutionary Girl Utena, Di Gi Charat, Scrapped Princess, Slayers), and Yoshiki Fukuyama (Macross 7, Buso Renkin, Overman King Gainer, Ehrgeiz).

Viz acquired the theatrical, television, digital, home entertainment, ancillary, and merchandise rights for the third season across North America, Latin America, and Oceania and will stream the series in October. Crunchyroll will stream the anime in Europe and the Middle East in fall.

J.C. Staff is returning from the second season to animate the series. Madhouse animated the first season.

Chikashi Kubota (Corpse Princess: Aka, FLCL Progressive) is back to design the characters, along with Shinjiro Kuroda and Ryōsuke Shirakawa. Tomohiro Suzuki (ACCA: 13-Territory Inspection Dept.) is again in charge of the series scripts. Makoto Miyazaki (Triage X, Dragon Crisis!) is also returning to compose the music.

The new season's returning cast members include Makoto Furukawa as Saitama, Hikaru Midorikawa as Garou, and Daisuke Namikawa as Dr. Genus.

The first anime season aired in Japan from October to December 2015. Viz Media and Daisuki both streamed the series outside of Japan as it aired. The anime premiered with an English dub on Adult Swim's Toonami block in July 2016. Viz Media released the first season on home video in North America.

The second season began with a television special in April 2019, then the first episode premiered one week later. Viz Media acquired the master license to the second anime season, including digital streaming, TV broadcast, electronic sell-through, home media, and merchandising rights for North America, Latin America, and Oceania. The company streamed the show as a Hulu exclusive. Crunchyroll streamed the series in Europe, excluding French- and German-speaking Europe, and in the Middle East and North Africa.

Yūsuke Murata and ONE launched the One Punch Man manga on Shueisha's free "Tonari no Young Jump" website in 2012. The series is a remake of ONE's original web manga of the same name. Viz Media is releasing the series digitally in its Weekly Shonen Jump manga anthology, and is also releasing the series in print.

The entertainment industry news website Deadline reported in June 2022 that Sony Pictures is setting up Justin Lin to direct a live-action film adaptation of the manga. The Hollywood Reporter reported in April 2024 that Rick and Morty co-creator and Community creator Dan Harmon and screenwriter Heather Anne Campbell are rewriting the script.
