First part of the Hit wo Nerae! Trilogy. The thing about this series is that it really isn't meant to be taken seriously. The more one understands about what the shows are making fun of, the funnier the experience will be.

Hit o Nerae! (TV) Good (2004)
Second in the Hit wo Nerae! Trilogy. I rather liked how this turned out, and the theme centred around the characters rather than the production was well-done. Not the best parody around, but Hit wo Nerae! helps make a more complete picture, and there are more than a few funny insights into the anime industry, and I did find the characters endearing, and the way that the non-sensical elements of Cos'prayers are contrived was quite clever.
Honey and Clover (TV) Masterpiece (2005)
Honey and Clover (live-action movie) Excellent (2006)
Two important things to consider when watching the Hachimitsu to Clover movie; firstly you really have to be a fan of Japanese film (which I am), as it's styled more towards Japanese live-action film rather than the anime; secondly, it's pretty much a fan's film. It's hard for me to guage how people who haven't read the manga or seen the anime will receive what transpires in the film, as it's just so much shorter and contians less material than its sources. For fans who know the characters though, the interpretations of the characters are brilliantly translated into live-action actors - enough for me in any case. Many fans will likely find the film dull and the charcters nowhere near the mark of how they're portrayed in the anime particularly, but as an afore-mentioned fan of Japanese film, it made a lot of sense to me. Overall we never see enough of the characters and what transpires between them to make and huge amount of emotional ground cover, but what touched me in this film were the many moments where the subtlety of Japanese photography and screenplay really captured the nuances of the characters perfectly. It's all done in looks, glances, slight changes of expressions, pauses, simple sentences and subtle interactions, and it's perfectly suited to my tastes in film.

Though the chronology is quite different, so to the total amount of time covered in the film, it seems that it covers events from the first anime series only, which may explain why we see so little of Mayama and Rika-san... -sama... sorry... but as these things usually go, there may well be a sequel to cover the second series. Oh yeah, and Nomiya isn't even in it - he may be in a cursory sense, but he isn't named and has no interactions with anyone. As a film it's impossible to cover everything, but it still would have been nice to have Nomiya and Yamada's interractions on-screen. Here's hoping for that fabled sequel, and that it will include some more love for the older characters.

Actually, it just needs to be all about Rika-sama, then I'll be happy :P

Third in the trilogy after Cosprayers and Hit wo Narae! This was slightly lesser than Hit wo Narae, in that it focussed a little too much on an actual narrative. There were some funny moments in it though which further contributed to the parodying nature of the trilogy, but all in all the harem theme really is getting old, even if it wasn't precisely the same as the standard premise in which it's commonly used.
