It would be interesting to see my black Lab mix to eat these.

That's very neat, now dogs don't have to eat the table scraps and risk GDV or worse. Japan needs to make some cat healthy renditions of popular people food as well as I have a cat not a dog.

Now I'll count the months before this gets referenced in the current Littlest Pet Shop cartoon.

If you take the alcohol out of wine make it dog-safe, what's the point?

To have a good tasting drink without getting hammered. Alcohol free wine still isn't dog safe, grapes are lethal to them.

I've known about the raisin issue, but the fact that the mechanism of toxicity(and the recentness of the connection) for grapes is unknown is rather odd. How are you supposed to make a dog-safe wine when you don't even know what's supposed to be killing Fido?

Or is it closer to those pet owners who have thoughtlessly given Mr. Paws grapes as a regular treat with no ill effect?

EDIT: Grape seed extract is perfectly safe according to everyone it seems. Maybe this'll all be sorted out before too long.

EDIT2: Thinking it over, the original post seems a bit overly confrontational. But it really does make little sense how you can protect against an effect you don't have an explanation for. There being dogs that will happily eat grapes all the live long day while others keel over and die after a small number would seem to pose a risk of spoiling any attempt at a scientific study of a "safe" grape product.

But rasins? Don't do raisins.

I don't think alcohol should be used with dogs really at all.

I think people just like the novelty of serving their pets human-looking food. I've made "ice cream" for my dog before, using a variety of dog-friendly things, just for the (human) novelty of letting her eat ice cream alongside us when we're having our human ice cream. ;p

Pet owners do weird things.

There's also non-alcoholic wine meant for humans, which are for people who choose not to or aren't allowed to intake any alcohol whatsoever but still want to enjoy wine. That's the point of removing alcohol from wine.

It sounds great until you realize that most dog breeds have allergies to wheat.
