So the studio that is working on Casshan 2045 and the Ninja Scroll animation project are done in Singapore and not in Japan. I wonder how these 2 animation project based on well-known anime IP, and animated by a Singaporean studio are going to make the "what is anime" debate more interesting because I expect both animation project from this studio to not be counted as anime entries on MAL, Anilist, and probably AniDB just like how the Japanese-Thai anime series, Tokyo Override didn't get counted as anime by the same databases despite being a co-production.

Yeah... this is really questionable on if it should be considered an anime, honestly. Especially strange studio to choose given this particular franchise and how extremely censored Singapore is

Unless I see Kawajiri, I'm being cautious

I'm not a cel purist, but I do feel like you won't get the right look for the series using modern technology. Maybe I will be proven hen it comes out.

If you take away the hype and aura moments, then you are left with Ninja Scroll 2003. Yoshiaki Kawajiri was what made the film work and there is no IP value here without getting another maverick in charge.

I just looked up this outfit, and I see no evidence of it being a "studio." Look up their web site. It looks like venture capital to me. My guess is that they'll fund these projects in exchange for seats at the tables and IP ownership. They'll be animated in Japan, but there will be foreign input.

Yeah, that's the same thing I'm sort of getting. I would like to know about this "studio" or this company to make sure these animation project do really count as anime, and not something like Ultraman: Rising, Netflix's Castlevania which both of them based on Japanese IPs aren't classified as anime. |
