Attack on Titan's Mikasa plays Reina, Polar Bear's Café's “Rin Rin” plays Wataru (Lance) in October TV anime special

The official website for the Pocket Monsters: The Origin television anime special announced three more cast members for the anime on Monday:

Yui Ishikawa (Attack on Titan's Mikasa) as Reina.
Tokuyoshi Kawashima (Polar Bear's Café's “Rin Rin”) as Wataru (Lance).
Minoru Inaba (Cross Game's Coach Sentarō) as Old Man Fuji.

The new cast will be joining Junko Takeuchi (Naruto's titular character) as Red, Tomokazu Sugita (Gintama's Gintoki) as Takeshi, Takuya Eguchi (Gosick's Kujō) as Green, Rikiya Koyama (Utawarerumono's Hakuoro) as Sakaki (Giovanni), and Katsuji Mori (Gatchaman's Ken Washio) as Professor Ōkido (Professor Oak).

In the anime's story, Red encounters a strange Pokémon in the fierce battle with Team Rocket's leader Sakaki (Giovanni). The characters are based on Nintendo's original Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green (released as Pokémon Blue in North America) video games. Rival Green, Gym Leader Takeshi (Brock), Red's mother, and Team Rocket also appear in this special set in Kanto, the first region ever seen in the Pokémon franchise.

The anime will premiere in Japan on October 2, and will stream on November 15 on the Pokémon TV website for North America. The next generation of Pokémon games, Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, will launch worldwide on the Nintendo 3DS and 2DS on October 12. The Cartoon Network will then show two episodes from the new anime Pokémon the Series: XY in the United States on October 19, right after the American premiere of the latest Pokémon film, Pokémon the Movie: Genesect and the Legend Awakened (Gekijōban Pocket Monster Best Wishes! Shinsoku no Genosekuto: Myuutsū Kakusei).
