Line art revealed for Jaswant, Rajendra, Etoile, Alfried characters

The July issue of Kodansha's Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine is revealing on Tuesday that NICO TOUCHES THE WALLS (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Naruto Shippūden, Haikyu!!) will perform the new opening theme song and Kalafina (Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works, Black Butler) will perform the new ending theme song for The Heroic Legend of Arslan television anime series. NICO TOUCHES THE WALLS' opening theme song is titled "Uzu to Uzu" (Swirl and Swirl), and Kalafina' ending theme song is titled "One Light." The new opening and ending will premiere on July 5.

Additionally, the magazine is premiering the line art character designs for the four new cast members previously revealed earlier this month. Original manga creator Hiromu Arakawa designed the characters for animation.

Wataru Hatano as Jaswant (pictured top row left), a Shindra soldier and Rajendra's subordinate
Kōsuke Toriumi as Rajendra (pictured top row right), the second prince of the great eastern kingdom Shindra
Yumi Uchiyama as Etoile (pictured bottom row left), a knight in the Lusitania army
Manami Numakura as Alfried (pictured bottom row right), a daughter of a Zott clan leader

The television anime premiered on April 5. Funimation is streaming the anime as it airs in Japan, and it describes the story:

In the kingdom of Pars lies the Royal Capital of Ecbatana, a powerful city ruled by the fearsome King Andragoras. Arslan, the 14-year-old prince of Pars, is a green ruler and lacks the fierce leadership skills possessed by his father. After his father falls victim to a treacherous plot headed by one of his most trusted comrades, the kingdom of Pars falls in the war with the neighboring nation of Lusitania. Narrowly escaping with his life, Arslan must embark on a journey to reclaim the fallen kingdom and fulfill his destiny as ruler of Pars.

Funimation will also stream a broadcast dub of the series.

The television anime adapts The Heroic Legend of Arslan manga that Hiromu Arakawa (Fullmetal Alchemist) launched in Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine in 2013. The manga, in turn, adapts Yoshiki Tanaka's original novel series which already inspired a 1991-93 original video anime series.

Kodansha published the third volume in Japan in February, and Kodansha Comics published the third volume in North America in May. Crunchyroll is also releasing the manga as it appears in Japan. Central Park Media released the earlier 1991-93 original video anime.
