The official website for the anime adaptation of Gamon Sakurai's Ajin - Demi-Human manga announced on Friday that Jun Fukuyama is joining the cast as the boy Kō Nakano (pictured below). It also announced that the second film will open next May with the full title of Ajin -Shōtotsu- (Ajin - Demi-Human: Collision). To commemorate the opening of the first film, the cast member Mamoru Miyano, Mikako Komatsu, and Fukuyama will appear at a stage greeting accompanying a showing at Toho Cinemas Nihonbashi in Tokyo on December 5.
The first film in the planned trilogy, Ajin: Shōdō (Ajin: Demi-Human - Compel), opened in Japan on Friday for a two-week limited engagement. It held its world premiere at the Tokyo International Film Festival on October 28.
In the manga's story, an immortal first appeared on an African battlefield 17 years ago. Later, rare, unknown new immortal lifeforms began appearing among humans, and they became known as "Ajin" (demi-humans). Just before summer vacation, a Japanese high school student named Kei Nagai is instantly killed in a traffic accident on his way home from school. However, he is revived, and a price is placed on his head. Thus begins a boy's life on the run from all of humankind.
The project will also receive a television anime, which will premiere on MBS, TBS, and CBC on January. Netflix will stream episodes in Japan three days after airing on Japanese television, and then in other Netflix territories in mid-2016. The television series will go deeper into the story and provide more details on the story's world.
The manga's eighth volume will also bundle an anime on DVD when it ships on May 6.

The seven volumes have 3.9 million copies in print. Vertical published the sixth volume in North America on August 25. Crunchyroll is posting new chapters as Kodansha publishes them in Japan.
