5 Centimeters Per Second (movie) Masterpiece Extremely well executed pure romance movie, the animation and attention to detail is great. Also, this movie is entirely sad, very sad, maybe one part where the characters are happy and you yourself are too. But that doesn't make it a bad movie, this was flippin' awesome, and its short so if you don't like it, no time wasted, right?
Air (TV) Excellent Starts out kinda cheesy but not really, soon gets into a great story filled with terrible terrible sadness and some happiness (though the bitter-sweet kind), one of the things you may notice is the way they draw their faces is a little weird, their mouths are way the fuck up there. Instead of :-) more like :)-. Yeah. In the short, its really good full of good character development, story development and some real tear tearjerkers, and you will never believe it was based off of an adult game where the goal was to fuck some girls.
Air (movie) Excellent An alternate Retelling of the story Air, there are some differences best explained by eh Wikipedia article but the major ones are that the main male lead is different in personality and some other things that i can;t really say cause it would be a spoiler. Very very nearly as good as the anime series, but still worth watching.
Angel Beats! (TV) Excellent This was awesome. I found it pretty crappy at the start but it quickly got better and better so that the last eight episodes are hilarious (mostly) and touching (mostly at the end). That ending is pretty sad holy fuck and Kanade-chan is sooooooo cuuuuute! But yeah, the animation is astounding, detail is acceptable and the characters are very good and the plot is really good. Watch it. The opening is awesome as well, its really beautiful.
anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day (TV) Well this was refreshingly different in the plot department, though I could see some Kanon in there, it's mostly sad (very sad) but still not as sad as Clannad After Story. But there were somethings I didn't like mostly the supernatural stuff, also this would have made a really good anime as well if they dropped the actual excistance of her and he was just imagining her, or if they made it so they killed each other, higurashi style. I didn't feel that it deserved a masterpiece though I can certainly see how many people gave it such a rating. The animation is average, the opening is cool, not amazing and the characters are pretty fucked up. Oh well it ends....... happy?
Another (TV) Excellent Not really into the horror but just like the fucked upedness and story, like in higurashi.
Azumanga Daioh (TV) Very good (dub & sub) What can I say? A classic, it has many funny parts and some awesome characters, it follows no plot, has no sad moments and has some REALLY funny moments in it. A really good one to watch if you are feeling down from watching Air. But then again if you haven't watched it already, you're a loser.
Azumanga Daioh - The Very Short Movie Very good Very short is right, I'm pretty sure it was made to be more of a promotional thing. But regardless, its still really funny. It's Osaka dreaming, that is all i should have to say.
Azumanga Web Daioh (ONA) So-so Fucking weird, done from chyo's perspective as a school project.
Baka and Test - Summon the Beasts (TV) Good This was pretty funny, lots o laughs and hot chicks and fanservice. Good stuff! It tries to be serious sometimes, but most of those times its only vaguely trying to with something goofy going on in the background. There was also an episode that was like it was strait out of a NGE episode, on purpose of course. At any rate this was good for a lot of laughs and awesome fanservice, but the plot as well, sort of. I think the ides with he battling beings with attack based on their test scores, its cool and Ironman is tha shit. The ending was also slightly sad surprisingly, its also awesome that its only 13 episodes, a good easy watch. There is also a very rare male Tsundere
Bakemonogatari (TV) Masterpiece This was amazing, the plot progresses very smoothly, the characters are awesome, the humor is great and the romance themes are engaging. The animation is also a very different style, one that can only be described by seeing it, there is great detail to drawing as well. Apparently only the first twelve episodes were aired on tv, so if you missed the last three you are really missing out as the last episode was simply amazing. This. Was. Awesome/Hilarious/Intense/Engaging/ECT... I had read part of the first light novel and decided to watch it. Same thing happened with Oriemo 'cept I was able to finish the entirety of the Oriemo Volume one but Bakemonogatari Volume 1 was only partially translated.
Bakuman. (TV) Excellent Awesome, I though that because it was originally a manga about making manga that it would be horribly slow paced and very boring, but it was the opposite - awesome and interesting, very much so. I thought the 'romance' thing between Miho and whatever the drawer guys name is was pretty stupid, but at least by the end they were talking to each other via phone and not just 'mail'. Also Takagi's girlfriend changed quite a bit from being a tsundere to a normal girl in a space of like 2 episodes. I like the tsundere version. The art is fairly normal as is the animation,, nothing really special about it, just average. It's a pity that Hatori is not going to be their editor any more I liked that guy. oh well. Anyways this is a watch but if you've read the manga before, I'd advise against watching because you probably won't like it. I can say that i will definitely be watching the second season.
Barefoot Gen (movie) Very good This is very graphic and intense, its also pretty depressing, especially the scene with him watching the rest of his family getting burnt alive. yeah. real nice. The only thing that I don't like, is the art style, it makes everything that is supposed to be serious, look goofy, like their trying to make it funny. For instance, when he was crying cause his little sister died, his mouth was like the size of his whole head. Another thing, this is doesn't effect how I feel about it, but it almost feels like a documentary, compared to the closest thing I've watched to it, Grave of the Fireflies. Anyways, you should watch it as it is a great movie to watch and a classic, it is especially good to watch if you haven't watched many that are this old.
Battle Angel (OAV) Very good This is pretty good, it is mostly sad, it doesn't try to be funny and that's a good thing. The reason I gave it a very good is because of its length - two episode - it feels very rushed, i mean very rushed, but it was a very interesting watch and I'm glad i did. This was supposed to be a preview thing so I guess they weren't really serious about it, but this would have made a good twelve eisoder, ah well. It is definitely worth watching and it only takes slightly over and hour of your time so whats to lose? Another thing is about the at\rt style, I find that it borders on garish but is acceptable and i got used to it fast. It actually manages to make some chicks look hot which i wasn't expecting!
BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad (TV) Excellent This is awesome, really cool to watch, the plot progresses nicely throughout the twnety-six episodes and the music is awesome. Contrary (I think) to most peoples opinions, I like how it ends, though it feelse rshed but I think they crammed it in on the nd on purpose to mislead you into thinking there would be a sad ending. That last live was fuckin awesome as well, it spans three episodes and does not get boring! Most people agree that the dub is better then the sub for english speakers and I'm sure I would agree, but I still thought the sub was very good as well.
Black Lagoon (TV) Excellent This is an awesome anime. Full of action, guns, hot chicks, hot chicks with guns, big guns, jumps and all kinds of other good shit. It is VERY gritty and definitely deserves its seinen demographic. It has surprisingly good character development for being the genre it is and is a MUST see.
Black Lagoon: The Second Barrage (TV) Masterpiece Holy shit! This was even better then the first season, slightly grittier and a whole lot stronger emotions but retaining the humor (black) from the first season. Some good moments were at the end (and all throughout of course) And the creepiest thing i have ever seen in and anime appeared, the twins, oh lordy the twins. *shiver*
Black Rock Shooter (OAV) Excellent Huh?! I didn't get this at all, i guess its them fighting with themselves? But the worse part is that I still don't understand it even after reading the Wikipedia article! Maybe I am missing something? but in the article it talks about stuff that I swear didn't happen, also this really pains me to rate it this because I know if I understood what happened then I would rate it much higher, and what the hell was with the ending? it doesn't close anything! Is it just leaving itself open for a sequel? I wish I knew. OK, wow. I didn't watch past the credits, now it makes sense. OK this was pretty good, the chicks be hot (ones in the dream world, er, whatever its called) and the animation is really good. It also seems to set itself up for more which I will watch. It also went by remarkably fast considering its length, meaning it kept me interested. It also got pretty depressing there when she disappeared but I wish it elaborated more on the disappearing part. It doesn't explain why she leaves or how she comes back or anything. I just guess your left to assume it was cause of her jealousy, and she decided to talk to her and they made up blah blah blah. Which is just fine. Anyways this was very good, a definite watcher!
Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro-chan (TV) Very good My first anime I watched (not counting Pokemon and stuff, since I watched those years and years ago) Hehe, short and worth watching just for kicks, much funnier if watched with someone else, it is excessively violent, perverse and crazy. But in a good way!
Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai Add On Disc (OAV) Decent Just like another episode (of Haganai, they are stored under different names for some reason).
Bunny Drop (TV) Masterpiece Wow, this was awesome, this is now one of my favorite anime's, in the top 3 or even 2. There is nothing negative to say about this, everything is so perfectly executed, with little touches here and there making it all come together super awesomely. I really want to read the manga now to, which I will probably do quite promptly. I also watched all 11 episodes in two days - 7 during one night and the rest the next day. it was captivating. The animation is also really really awesome, with tons of detail and little touches like at the start of the episode the pastel effect that it has before the openings. It's also really touching and pleasantly funny in interesting ways. The plot is also really original - it's the first of its kind that I have watched. Another thing is Rin herself (not that Rin, nonononononononono) she is really cute (like a six/seven year old should be) but they don't overdo it, just the perfect amount, and some of the facial expressions are priceless, I especially like the little curl thing that she gets for eyebrows sometimes. Anyways, this one is fucking awesome and the best I have seen in a while. FUCKING WATCH IT OR I WILL KILL YOU! Another thing is the Opening, it's really awesome and perfect for the show, and the English parts in it are really good too, no Engrish to be found! And not a hint of an accent! Bravo!
A Certain Scientific Railgun (TV) Decent Well this is pretty cheesy first off, I am also not sure what laws of physics this follows but it is certainly not the ones in this universe. I actually really like this when it isn't trying to be plotty, I like it when It is just yuri awesomeness and funniness. All of the points this gets are from it being funny and having hot lesbian shit in it and some of the interesting characters. All the other stuff like the "Believe in your freinds" and "Har, har, har I am Evil and I will be defeated" shit is just annoying. But there are a few interesring things that I didn't expect like the twist near the end with haruue and her friend, I also found that fetus thing around the middle to be very creepy. Had this been not a primetime show and actually tried to not be cheesy, the level 6 thing at the end would have gone through, and the protangonist (person who became level 6) would be all angsty and stuff. This would all have been revealed with flashbacks and whatnot. Anyways, it was fine I guess and enjoyed it when it wasn't trying to be plotty. It also got all transformers on my ass in the last two episodes. The opening is awesome two, I also like some of the facial expressions (like the one shirai-san has during the first OP when she is teleporting on top of Mikoto). The animation is also really good.
Chobits (TV) Excellent (dub & sub) Don't let the start fool you, the start makes it look really crappy when in fact its a really good romance, that is surprisingly sad at the end. OK, having thought about it more, it deserves a better rating. One which I have given it.
Clannad (movie) Very good Well ill just say initially that this was almost as sad as after story, impressive considering i knew what was coming. There were a few tings i didn't like, namely the animation and how they changed the story if ibuki. The kid is completely gone, and it feels very rushed near the end, where in the series they spend a whole 26 episodes on it. I can say that most of my comments i made on CLannad and after story apply to this as well, this just made me remember how emotional Clannad was. Another thing I didn't like was how they changed the end, but I still though the end was good. I just liked the one in after story better. They also changed one character too, that electrician guy, he different in this.
Clannad (TV) Masterpiece Oh jeez this is a challenge to rate, i want to rate it masterpiece but from what Ive heard, Clannad After Story is even better, but this is masterpiece, Anyways this series is amazing, it has some of the best humor ever, amazingly effective tearjerkers, non-stereo typical characters (some may do stereotypical things, but they themselves are not.) The main character is awesome. If you don't watch this before you die, then you suck.
Clannad After Story (TV) Masterpiece At the very least, this is the best anime i have ever seen in its genre. AT THE VERY LEAST! The first third is just like Clannad, same great humor, but no tearjerkers. Why? Because the middle section up to like episode 20 is the saddest thing you will ever see! At the saddest part i spent the rest of the night crying and had to halt the watching of it. The last four episodes are great. You'll see why for yourself. Small story short, this is one anime that brought the greatness of Clannad up to a whole new greatness. And Clannad was great to begin with! Words can't convey how great this was. Watch for yourself. With regards to the ending, I am really glad they ended it that way, otherwise I probably would have killed myself.
Cowboy Bebop (TV) Excellent One of the top five best anime's of all time, there is really nothing to say bad about it, good dubbing, character development, acting, action, humor and a good story line that will keep you interested and watching it all at once.
Cowboy Bebop: The Movie Excellent Just as good as the anime.
Cromartie High School (TV) Very good This is very enjoyable to watch, the episodes are only 12 minutes (including ops and eds) and its funny. Not really funny. But definitely funny. There are moments (I would say about 12 of them) that are really hilarious the rest is meh to lolol. Even so, its interesting just to see the shenanigans they get into. Also, the last episode is really awesome and funny. I will leave it at that. The OP is awesome as well.
Darker than Black (TV) Excellent Man, wow this was enjoyable to watch, until the very end where it got crazy and fucking intense in the matter of three or four episodes. The ending really minded me of neon genesis evangelion. Even the few filler episodes that are in it are very entertaining to watch because there really funny, what with the investigator and his quirky, otaku sidekick. WITH ZETTAI RYOUIKI!!! It has elements of Speed Grapher, Elfen Lied and Death Note in it. Not in that order and all together make a very good series. This is really a must watch.
Death Note (TV) Very good Would be in the top 5 if it weren't for the last dozen episodes with that damn train totin' kid! Grrr. It has an awesome story, characters and morals, and L. Even last dozen or so episodes have cool and intense moments.
(The) Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya (movie) Masterpiece This was so fucking amazing, you cannot say anything bad about this, the animation is great, the animation has great detail, they capture the feel of the book and amplify it, and it follows the books plot to a tee. as seen in other reviews definitely a movie for current fans as anyone else would be lost. You have to see this movie if your a fan of this series. And i don't know what to think of that scene at the very end after the credits. Also look out for Yuki looking super hot in this one and super cute at that. THIS WAS AMAZING! I'm definitely gonna watch the dub when it is released as well.
Eden of the East (TV) Masterpiece A perfectly executed anime, the plot flows smoothly from one episode to another, the subject matter is interesting, and the characters are great. It's also really funny, not traditional anime humor either. In the first episode, it says something of the quality, one of the main characters is in the United States and it shows American s talking. In English. With flawless accents. No Engrish. Actual English speakers! The animation is also great and i liked how they drew the characters.
Eden of the East: The King of Eden (movie) Excellent Really not much to comment on, just like a continuation of the tv series, i only gave it a rank less because i really don't like the animation.
Elfen Lied (TV) Masterpiece A very sad story about humans (ish) who arent accepted in the world and have taken an intense hate upon every human in the world, hell bent on remaking it without humans. Full of visual accuracy and err, strange but applicable fan service. Boob rubbing anyone. IN the short. Watch it. It is a masterpiece.
Elfen Lied (OAV) Excellent As good as the anime though takes a little lighter side, think of it as a breather.
Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone (movie) Excellent This was awesome! A really good remake of a really good series, the animation is amazing, the plot is pretty much the same as the original tv run, so it stays true. This is a must see, whether you've watched the original TV run or not. Being the same plot, it still has the problems that i had with it when i watched the original TV run: 1) Shinji is a pussy and 2) Shinji's father is still a fuckin asshole. I also learned another lesson from this movie, some subtitles are not the best quality, discovered when at one scene the translator translated some Japanese into ballsballsballs.
Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance (movie) Excellent This was fuckin crazy. It sorta follows the plot of the original TV run. But im pretty sure its even more fucked up some how. It was a amazing, you simply must see this. It leaves you with a big fat cliff hanger IE "The world is about to end". It also has some really weird music choices. Really weird. Like at one point there was something that sounded remarkably like a children's nursery rhyme song, but the imagery was some extreme violence. Yeah.
Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo (movie) Excellent I understand everything that happened but I still don't really know what to give it, its good but also confusing as fuck. I guess it is an interesting departure from the story told in the TV series and is pretty awesome in it own right. I definitely look forward to the fourth movie. The animation is amazing. Fo cereal.
Excel Saga (TV) Excellent (dub & sub) The crazy ass anime that makes fun of, lampshades, and exaggerates every trope out there in anime. It is frickin hilarious, its insane, it has no plot and the last episode (26 - Going too far) will make you say: "WTF"!!!!!! Watch this if want a whole Lotta laughs, 3x more if you watch it with someone else, oh and also, make sure you can read subtitles REALLY fast.
FLCL (OAV) Excellent A good anime it is completely random has some interesting humor in it, breaks some risque social conventions and is definitely worth watching. The animation is very good and the characters are interesting, its pretty difficult to figure out what happens without reading the wikipedia article.
Fullmetal Alchemist (TV) Very good (dub & sub) A really good anime, good story good characters good animation and kick ass characters. I got bored of it though after the first season and never watched the second one.
(The) Future Diary (TV) Masterpiece Well this was boring fucking shit. Actually it was fucking amazing and the best anime I have seen thus far, it is very complex and there are twists everywhere and you never really know what to happen and just the sheer amount of emotional content is difficult to deal with. What with all the characters being fucked up beyond belief. The ending is bitter sweet I guess but I was really hoping for the obvious pairing. At any rate the animation is good sometimes very good and the first OP is cool, though I don't really like the second one. I can't say much cause its east to spoil but it is really fucking awesome. Watch it.
Galaxy Express 999 (movie) Good The animation is shit and the plot seems to have some holes in it, though this just may be me not being up to date on the universe (due to the fuck-ton of other shit in the same universe). The train is pretty cool, but what the fuck is with the female character designs. Ugh.
(The) Garden of Words (movie) Excellent Maaan that's some nice animation. The movie is awesome needless to say, has a certain 5cm per second vibe. If i wasn't with my buddy I probably would have balled my fucking eyes out.
Ghost in the Shell (movie) Excellent Pretty friggin' awesome, its really down to earth, there actually correct with all the computer stuff they babble out, it has cool themes (cool, though i really wouldn't want them to happen in real life) and the animation is very nice (as is typical of older animated movies, i thinks its cause their actually drawn, rather then being CG). Its get really creepy and ficking weird everyonce in a while (like near the end where she is trying to tear the tank apart... *shudder*) but you can deal with those and i don't personally consider those to be a boone. The only thing i really have to complain about is the stretches of the movie where there just looking at different stuff with ambient music in the background, I'm not sure why they do that but it just seems like to me there trying to eat up some time to make it longer. Anyways, this wasw an excellent movie and a classic that you must see. Seriously, watch it.
Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence (movie) Excellent First things first. The animation is fucking amazing. The CG and traditionally drawn style characters go together perfectly. Some of the scenes eve look like real life! Also it is funny in a very subtle sort of way and that part with Mr Kim was really cool. The dub is also amazing with every little detail thought out. Those dolls are really creepy as well, also YAY THE MAJOR IS BACK! There's always time to be philosophical batou! Awesome ending is awesome. His daughter is but ugly. Anyways, all disjointed comments aside, this is a worthy successor to the first movie in my books. Bravo!
(The) Girl Who Leapt Through Time (movie) Masterpiece The best animated movie i have seen so far, it has excellent animation, is not well known (for some reason) has good story and surprisingly good humor and plot twists, this is one you really need to watch because it is so good and its a movie so you didn't waste your time if you don't like it, which you will.
(The) Gokusen (TV) Good Kind of cheesy, not terrible, is what is. She hot.
Golden Boy (OAV) Very good This was pretty awesome, it kinda reminds me of Great Teacher Onizuka, but like ten times more perverted, thats the only thing about this, its really perverted, but if you can ignore that you will mind a pretty funny and awesome story flowing nicely between six episodes. Episode five in particular was realllllllly awesome and gave the whole series like 300 internets, episode six was also really good as it was cool how he used the assistance of all the people he met up until then. The animation quality is acceptable but the detail is quite good, i just don;t really like how the characters look, but the scenes and the background art is very cool. Oh and the dub is friggin terrible, don't watch it. Seriously. It sounds like someone fan dubbed it. All in all this was pretty good anime series, a definite watch!
Grave of the Fireflies (movie) Very good A cruel, down to earth tale of desparate survival, and subsequent failure to do so. This is pretty depressing and you will think that the main male kid character is an idiot, until you realize that he is just a kid.
GTO: Great Teacher Onizuka (TV) Masterpiece GTO is amazing. No other way to describe it. There are a lot of characters (that could even be considered main) like at least 20, and by the end their all very well developed. The anime managed to keep me in heavy interest for 43 episodes. Thats pretty good. Its also frickin hilarious and the chicks are hot! Did i mention fan-service (though not an overload of it). You have to watch this! Even if you've already read the manga because the anime strays from the manga after volume 14 and its an entirely different plot. But don't fear, the plot they made and the stories are just as good as the mangas, I didn't even notice when it strayed.
Gunbuster (OAV) Good I'm gonna say one thing right off the bat, this is the trope codifier for cheesy mecha show, seriously, calling out your attacks, sound in SPACE! Its all there. I watched it cause it was made by anno, the same guy who made neon genesis evangelion, and boy you can tell. There are quite a few expies of characters from gunbuster in NGE. A good thing is that gunbuster has some of the emotional intensity of NGE, setting it apart from other mecha shows. There are also BARE BOOBS!, and I'm pretty sure gunbusters budget went like this: 5% animation, 5% voice acting, 5% directing and 85% boob jiggling physics calculations. I kid, I kid. Seriously, there are a lot of jiggling boobs. The animation is pretty damn good - those laser cannons look fucking awesome - and the voice acting is good but boobs do jiggle a lot, i now see where gainaxing comes from. Not that that is a bad thing. But anyways, this is pretty good, made before all the things it does became cheesy and cliched. Also, the ending is awesome. Even though the science in it and attention to science is severely flawed they do the whole time parallax thing very well, it really ads to the show and makes you realize how bad it sucks if it happened in real life.
Gunbuster 2: Diebuster (OAV) Decent There is no excuse now. The cheesiness has reached new heights. Large conversations in space, yelling out your attacks in space, its all there. But I did see a glimmer of there cause there was some actual emotional intensity. But there are plus points, it reminds me somewhat of FLCL, there's boobs and chicks be hot, but it is still really cheesy. Its also decently funny.
Gunslinger Girl (TV) Masterpiece Wow, this is not what I was expecting at all... This was really good, like Elfen lied but not so much as to seem like a rip-off, it also has the second saddest part (after Clannad: After Story of course) and a really intense awesome sad ending. The dub is really good, probably one of my favorites, and the characters are very good, I had no annoyances with any of them, I did however not like some of them, namely, Rico's handler. He's a dick. One of the most intense parts in it was in episode 11, it really had me going. Its also sad throughout, just when things seem to be looking up, someone dies. Sound familiar? I don;t think I need to explain the parrallels between this and Elfen Lied, as you will seem them if you watch this. A few more things - the animation is adequate, nothing special there but that's not what you would be watching this for.
Gunslinger Girl: Il Teatrino (TV) Excellent Yep this was very nearly as good as the first season. It's just as or more emotional, the endings are both intense and awesome thought I think the first season's ending wins. The only reason I didn't give this a masterpiece is because of the different art style and the fact that they focused less on the Gunslinger girls and more on side characters. I also didn't understand why there was awkwardness between Jose (not GUISE!!) and Henrietta, but I am glad that it was resolved by the end. Another thing for me has also been established, Triella is my favorite character and Rico scares the shit out of me... She always seems to be grinning when she is killing people and her handler is still just as much of a dick as always. I like the character they tacked on, Pinocchio as well. In short this is a damn good sequel, only slightly less as good as the first season. I am also disappointed that there wasn't a dub.
Gunslinger Girl: Il Teatrino (OAV) Excellent This pretty much has all the pluses and faults that the second season had. Rico is now confusing me, I think aw she's so cute! and then she kills some person and she starts grinning and I remember why she frightens me. Jean is also confusing me, usually I hate him - and I still do - but sometimes he will do something that makes it seem as though he genuinely cares about Rico, then he just goes and calls her a weapon. Dick. Henrietta has a serious crush on Jose, I'm sure of it. Also the thing with Enrica was pretty creepy..... Wasn't expecting that. It was also extremely deep, I now hate Jean much less. They also seem to be replacing their lost siblings with Henrietta and Rico. Normally I would say that won't work and that something bad will happen, but it just might in this case. Anyways this is just more of the same, but different. If you liked the series, you'll like this.
Haganai (TV) Decent It's a little obvious of a pander... and I'm not one to complain and I still enjoy it but the understanding is there... I do like the little ambiguous gender childhood best friend thing though. Very nice. That little karaoke episode conflict shit... very artificial, I hate that shit. Why did they go to separate rooms? What was their plan? I mean like, what? All right ultimately nothing happened at all in the end, it was a clear set-up for the next season in the end. If you like tits and pretty good humour your set, though I recognize it for what it is.
Hanasaku Iroha - Blossoms for Tomorrow (TV) Good Well this was pretty good, I mean it doesn't really have problems, it is just kind of boring like 60% of the time. And a couple of characters are pretty annoying, like Minchi and her frikkin' ridiculous bitchy-ness, seriously, fuck you! and frikkin' takky and her annoying random spurts of English. It has a bittersweet ending I guess, and I was a tad surprised they did close the hotel, but it didn't really effect me too much emotionally, a little bit of wetness, nothing more. The openings are OK and as with most ending themes its boring but ending theme-ish. It is fairly funny throughout, but nothing spectacular, the animation is pretty good, with very few instances of obvious CG, not that that is a big deal. Another thing I didn't like was the seemingly artificial confrontations between characters, notably Minchi and Ohana, I really don't understand what the hell they were frikkin' getting so mad at each other for, it was not something that would result in an argument in real life. Anyway, in general pretty good but not amazing.
Hellsing (TV) Very good Definitely Worth watching, its not really my kind of genre so i didn't give it the most amazing rating, some plus points: The music is awesome, the chick is hot, there all badasses, and the weapons are HUGE. The plot is fairly standard however and leans on the idealistic side.
Hidamari Sketch (TV) Very good A nice little slice of life anime, its pretty funny with the humor in the episodes ranging from funny to hilarious, there isn't a plot, not that that bothers me, I can sense when an anime is trying to be plotty and factor it in when it surfaces. The principal is awesome, I', pretty sure he is always agitated what with the constant shivering. I can also see some pani poni dash in it, or I guess I am seeing SHAFT in it, hat with the writing in the background and the random things in the background and the way they do some textures, like on blankets. This is also ridiculously cute, like cute overload, definitely culminating with chika-chan in the last episode. Anyways a nice slice of life anime, to be enjoyed in moderation, and obviously if you don't like slice of life then you won't like this. The animation is average.
Hidamari Sketch × Honeycomb (TV) Decent Well just more of the same, rather boring, but still entertaining, just fine for watching an episode a day at max. The opening theme is quite nice and enjoyable but other than that not much to say. Watch it if you have watched previous hidamari stuff.
Higurashi no Naku Koroni Gaiden Nekogoroshi-hen (OAV) Good Well, it was interesting and herp derp mion's pretty hot! Anyway, this is a pretty miled mannared episode, and feels like a break from the crazed killing of the main series, the only problem is this has all the stuff i don;t like about higurashi, but less of the stuff i do like so I gave it a lower rating. It pretty much consists of them walking around in costumes after they all lose a game (somehow) and they talk about different legends regarding an abandoned quarry. Thta's it, but don;t worry its better then it sounds cause the legend is fairly interesting.
Kanon (TV 2/2006) So-so (dub), Excellent (sub) WARNING! SPOILERS AHEAD! This is a very sad and touching story where everything only really comes together at the end. And its super happy, hell, even the tree is happy. And funny thing is that no one dies. At all. I'm' pretty sure key has some formula that was used with this, CLANNAD and air... Oh, Let me mention that until the very end it is really sad and there is very few funny parts in it, this is purposefully there, no trying to be funny moments. The way i interpreted it was that Yuichi was imagining or dreaming all the events until the end, only realizing that he didn't really fulfill any of the promises he had made. He also ends up with Ayu, which is good in two ways, first, its touching and i wanted them to be together and second, that leaves Mai for me, herp derp. This was very good, however i do have some qualms, for instance, it feels very much like a visual novel, what with the anime trying to explore all available paths and the music sounds just like visual novel music. I also think it was aimed at people who had already read/played the visual novel as I was confused and lost for the first few episodes. Another thing is that sometimes the characters try to act overly cute, though though a lot of times they were genuinely cute. so i guess it makes up for it. It also slightly upsets me that the game has a bunch of porn in it, because most of the character are not ones Yuichi feels sexual love to. I can assume from what I've seen that the animation quality is much better then the first anime and it shows. Overall, this is is on par with AIR and not as good as CLANNAD, but definitely an awesome watch. Now, for a TV tropes style Summary: Guy is a schizophrenic until he realizes that he didn't fulfill promises, then he isn't. Also the dub sucks penis.
Kill la Kill (TV) Excellent This is awesome, it's so over the top and hilarious. But not too over the top, and takes itself just the right amount of serious. Wow, awesome. Really well done, never stops being ridiculous but is actually serious at the same time. I don't know why senketsu killed himself at the end but that fucking sucked. Watch this shit yo.
Kodomo no Jikan (TV) Very good In short its about an eight year old girl who has a crush on her teacher and is very explicit about it. But its much more then that, it gets really intense at times and emotions run quite high and transfer to the viewer moderately well, the only thing I don;t like is all the OMG panties of a little girl lolicon shit, that and I kinda wish the ending had the opposite outcome it had. I also like it because it deals with a very sensitive issue that there really is no definitive answer for, cause she really seems to love him and not in a parent or other kind of way, the reason I'm guessing her guardian is for in the anime. As for 'fanservice' in this anime, I wouldn't really call it that as it plays a major part in establishing her character and building it, also I'm pretty sure her guardian is bat shit crazy and more of a lolicon then the teacher himself, you'll se what I mean. Something that I'm surprised about is that there are never unfortunate circumstances that lead to misunderstandings with her and her teacher, it only happens once at the end and only one person thinks anything happened. Most of the time through I was getting all worked up waiting for something like that to happen but it didn't. Animation and detail are fairly standard but nonetheless this was quite enjoyable and an excellent anime.
Kodomo no Jikan Nigakki (OAV) Excellent More of the same - a good thing - and follows the manga to a tee, being more of the same means that it has all the strengths and weaknesses of the TV series, all the annoying lolicon shit and the good stuff like dealing with sensitive issues. It's ridiculous how far this will go, and make it seem logical: An 9/10 year old girl sucking on the tits of a more endowed 9/10 year old girl? makes sense in context. Further more I see more issues a brewing, namely with kuro-chan and shirai-sensei, i think kuro is trying to replace her neglectful mother with shirai-sensei. Also, my notion that Reiji is a fucking weirdo is all the more reinforced with his rapist/look of satisfaction smile that was on his face after rubbing cooling gel on rin-chan's chest and noticing that she is getting more mature. Yeah. Anyways, if you liked the TV series or the manga, you will like this.
Kodomo no Jikan: Anata ga Watashi ni Kureta Mono (OAV) Very good More of the same but none of the bad, I guess, bad in the sense of mental torment, so it isn't as good after that because your left with a horny 9 year old. But it still is. For some reason.
Kodomo no Jikan: Kodomo no Natsu Jikan (OAV) Very good More of the same.
Koi Kaze (TV) Excellent I can already tell this is going to be good. But Jesus she does not look high school age! Holy fuck this guy is such a huge prick! its actually gonna lose points cause of how much of an unbelievable jerkass he is. OK now that the series has progressed almost to the end I see that he softens and i like him now. I like this series cause of its controversial issues it addresses. I see no problem in a sister and brother having a relationship that extends beyond so called normal brother and sister relationship. In their case they have been apart for a very long time so the bond that forms a brother sister relationship has not formed. I have a sister myself, but I would never see her like this because we have grown up together so I have basically been programmed to recognize her as being my sister. There is nothing explicitely wrong with the kind of relationship they have except for the increase risk of malformations in children but they would not have children. Other then that there is no reason this can't happen. I only have one episode left but I can firmely say that this was quite good as i predicted and a good watch. The animation is pretty sub par though. pretty bland. I like the ending and opening themes however and the dub is good minus the rampant usage of 'big brother' which would never be used in that way. oh well. cant have everything. OK this ended how I had hoped. But no ending would be satisfying, i guess them killing themselves would be but that would be super fucking sad but really they would have to take some serious measures to run away from it and live freely. oh well I can only hope they do great. why can't everyone in the world be as understanding and awesome as me?
Lovely Complex (TV) Excellent This is very entertaining it was really funny actually and pretty touching except a lot of the time they tried to pass touching things or sad moments off for laughs which is fairly annoying and i hate conflict and humor that is derived from misunderstandings. its irritating having to yell at the screen to just tell them what really happened! also was Otani really THAT oblivious? its kind of ridiculous. At any rte its pretty awesome and i like the first opening though the second opening sounds like an avril lavigne song, and the ending themes are awesome even with the nice obligatory terrible English.
Lucky Star (TV) Excellent (dub & sub) Lucky star is awesome. No other way to out it. The first eight minutes of it might put you off but it gets much better and stays better after those eight minutes. The main character is voiced by Haruhi Suzumiya's voice actor, and the main caracter is an otaku. And a female one at that! The anime is chock full of references and stuff for you to find. And the ending segment, lucky channel is very funny too, it has a drastically different kind of humor to so if you didn't like the episode, you can look forward to lucky channel at the end.
Lucky Star OVA Excellent Even more hilarious then the series, lots of references too (that i get) and even more dijointed. YAY!
(The) Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (TV) Excellent (dub & sub) I love this anime, I love the whole series, its funny interesting, enjoyable to watch and leaves you with hapiness. After I watched this I read the novels and there even better I highly recomend reading the novels if you liked the anime. Yuki is da (wo)man. herp derp. And for all you 'hata's!' FUCK YOU!
(The) Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (TV 2009 renewal) Excellent I would like to update my rating and comment, After reading all nine novels, watching all available media, i can only conclude that the endless eight section is genius. This lets people feel the frustration Yuki had to endure (though hers was magnitudes larger) when the same week repeated 14000 times. This frustration led up to the events told in the vanishment novel/movies. The creators even made it clear that they were not repeating the same story eight times out of lazyness. The animation is different each time as is the dialog.
(The) Melancholy of Haruhi-chan Suzumiya (ONA) Excellent This is frikkin hilarious! Its really easy to watch too as the episodes are only 2.5 - 6 minutes (only one is six minutes and the last one is almost 10). Not to be taken seriously at all, you really need to watch it and when it takes less then two hours to watch all 25 episodes, whats to lose?
Millennium Actress (movie) Excellent Wow this is really awesome, and really hard to follow too if you don't pay attention. It's really just a simple story told in a way that is awesome and different and complex - just what I would expect from a master like Satoshi Kon. I found it to be a little boring in a few parts, mostly the samurai parts, I seem to have it out with these kinds of parts as I felt the same way in AIR when they had a samurai bit. I also found the animation to be lacking, I thought it was made in the early 90s maybe middle - but then I found out it was actually from 2001. Anyways, this is super complex and fun to try and follow - and has a really good story, and its a movie so its short (relatively) and sweet.
Mitsudomoe (TV) Good So this was very entertaining and all, pretty funny, nice to look at, the opening is weird, its like a mish-mash of songs, not really very musical but its still fun to listen to at the start. The characters are drawn oddly, they are like chibis with really big thighs. yeah. They rely on misunderstandage humor which gets old and not a type i like overly but there is enough other stuff ton still greatly enjoy it. Anyway fun to watch nice little comedy series, not much else to say other than that really.
Monster (TV) Excellent Holy Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck. This was balzin' long, longest one i have watched yet, but it was worth it, the intricate nature of the interconnections between plot elements characters and back flashes is amazing, the ending is also quite awesome though I hate ambiguous endings, I am trying not to give anything too major away but its difficult not to. There are tons of characters that area ll very highly developed and one of my favorites (lunge) was actually one of the ones i liked the least, but my mind changed near the end, this is very very very psychological and thought provoking which helps make it awesome though i think the manga would be even more awesome cause it just fits that media better not really all that much action, tons of dialog, you would be able to get the entire story much faster without sacrificing anything if you read the manga instead, but regardless, I enjoyed watching this very much, and there is just something satisfying about finishing something of this length.... Oh, the art is pretty meh, to be expected considering how much they had to stretch out the budget, the opening is cool and the ending is full of Engrish so bad that i didn't even really realize it was English until like the 50th episode... but it doesn't really detract from the quality any, at any rate if you wanna start a long one to watch over a period of time, this is yo bitch.
NANA (TV) Excellent So far this is what I expected, not to say its bad, I am deciding to do this comment in a different way, sequentially every time i come up with something to say that way i don't forget anything. The Opening is kind of faggy, just cause its all punky rocky, but i do rate punk rock higher then pop so it gets something for that. I like the ending theme much better. There is a strong punk motif throughout, as expected but There are parts that I like and parts I don't like about it. Jeez episode 6 was annoying, why did they do that!? They just showed you what you already know. Fag level up! Nana (Direct Quote): "My le favorite le band is le sex le pistols." "I wanna le fuck le sid le viscious". Ugh. Oh well. Still fun and cool to watch. Duuuuuuude I totally want nana and NANA to have sex. yes plz gooby. Man there is way too much smoking going on in this anime. OOOO OMG like NOBU is so DREAMY. He is a nice guy. I'd suck his dick. It really is painful whenever hachi refers to nana as if they haven't seen each other in a while, stoooppp! :(:(:(:(:(. WHY THE FUCK DOES SHE HAVE TO BREAK IT OFF WITH NOBU! Just when I thought takumi was less of an ass hole... A big problem in this seems to be that everyone seems to want to love everyone and be with everyone. :( Oh maybe takumi isn't so bad, DAMN this anime is up and down. Oh man Nana's untrusting is only going to get worse.... :(:(:( I like how they change the opening theme according to the overall mood in the anime at that point in time. Nice. Haha funniest scene right there, kid nana holding yasu's hand on spring ducks. lololololol Fuckin' jeez! Holy fuck this anime is huge up's and down's but man was it ever enjoyable, good stuff. It's a pity with the ending, cause the manga is still going even now so they had to end it some how. They should make another season, that would be cool. Awesome!
Neon Genesis Evangelion (TV) Very good A classic. This was in its day extremely intense, full of depression and thought ideologies that make you think, and all this still applies today. This one of the must watch anime's, it will make you like some characters, love others and hate others with a passion. Wow, after watching Aim for the Top, I can see how many things are stolen from aim for the top, there are also a lot of expies of characters too!
Neon Genesis Evangelion: Death & Rebirth (movie) So-so A recap of the whole thing, I guess it would be OK if if you haven't watch the series, but is pretty boring otherwise. Watch it anyways though.
Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of Evangelion (movie) Masterpiece Fucked up beyond belief, and alternate ending to the anime series (a better one too i might add), it pushes many a boundaries and is even better then the original TV series. Watch it. Even just for the sheer fucked upidness, its just crazy, makes me glad I am not Shinji, laso, the director needs professional help - ANNO!
Nichijou - My Ordinary Life (TV) Excellent Haha this is awesome, reminds me a lot of pani poni dash but with more plot, well not plot just some episodes are interconnected. I quite like the ending its so like heart warming! The first opening is probably my favourite though the second one makes me laugh more. The first one is just more catchy I guess. I quite like the cat and basically all of the characters actually. Good Stuff. The animation is nice, especially in HD. Love dat HD shit. Anyway if you like pani poni dash you will most certainly like this and you will probably like this anyway if you don't so yeah.
Nisemonogatari (TV) Excellent Just a continuation of the Bakemonogatari style, so basically more awesome, and man i never get tired of all that sexy stuff! I didn't give this a masterpiece only because I didn't get that masterpiece feeling that I do when I give such a rating. Anyway not much else to say more of awesome and if you like Bakemonogatari you will like this as well. Woo!
Nyan Koi! (TV) Very good This was really funny, i also watched it in HD so it looked awesome, its a fairly normal slice of life thing but I find the humor to be refreshingly different, I also like slice of life so the two together make it awesome, I also noticed at one point there are actual nipples visible, HOLY SHIT! Well anyways chix be hot lots of awesome character types and I like the ending, I kind of was hoping for a conclusion, but I imagine there setting up for a second season, which i will probably watch when it comes out. The bottom line is that this is slice of life with nice humor in it, and if you don't like slice of life, well, you wont like this but for most people it will be enjoyable. Thumbs Uperu! I think I am rooting for him to either go with tsundere twin tails or whats her face childhood friend.
Oreimo (TV) Masterpiece I read the first light novel and really liked it, I think the anime goes through all the novels, I really want to watch it but I'm waiting for a Torrent. Finally I've got all the episodes and boy howdy was it ever fucking awesome holy shit. It's even better then the books, its fucking hilarious and on top of that there are serious parts that just hit me hard, And the 'true' ending is fucking sad but you know it will be all good again, and its for the best. Bitter sweet, i guess its called? Also, my little sister can't be this cute? BAH! Kirino is fucking ridiculously cute! Also kuroneko is damn fine and 'Bajeena' as well, especially kuroneko in that uniform. Dare I say, KAWAIIIIIIII! But seriously, this is amazingly awesome, all the characters are awesome, konata style, and it can also be really fucking sad. Now I wanna read the rest of the light novels, too bad there not in English! The opening is also one of my favorites, this anime is definitely in the top five along with Clannad and GTO. Wait, I just realized, apparently i only saw one of the three true episode routes, SHIT! Probably one of the best things is that there father is a fuckin TSUNDERE! Yeah! He's a picture perfect one including the characteristic line "Not that i was doing it for you or anything...". Also Minamis family is hilarious. Holy shit, I just watched the true ending episodes (I couldn't find an entry for them so i am just putting it here) I would never have thought that Oreimo could get even better, I mean holy shit it was absolutely fucking ballz dick penis awesome! AHHAHAHHAHAHHAHAAH!!! So awesome! It's emotional, it's hilarious and its soooooo engrossing. And I loved the new characters they put in, it makes me really depressed to think that its all over. I really hope it isn't. Anyways this was fuckin' awesome, unbelievably so and probably one of my favorites of all time. Watch it, or I'll fucking kill you.
Oreimo 2 (TV) Excellent Basically more of the first season which is awesome! I like the kuroneko and kyou thing as I'm sure most people did. I am looking forward to number 3 as I am sure they want to milk this thing as much as possible haha. I didn't like the last episode as much, I just though it was kind of boring though I was somewhat distracted so I will probably give it another watch. I didn't like the new OP at first but it grew on me after a while.
Ouran High School Host Club (TV) Excellent Yay this is pretty funny, its supposed to be aimed at females but its pretty multi gender. This show rarely takes itself seriously, but when it does its touching, and man that ending had me worrying there! The other Haruhi is pretty hawt too. Cept most of the time shes dressed up as a guy.
Pani Poni Dash! (TV) Excellent Dude this was epic! It was so awesome! It is insanely hilarious, it has awesome characters and I love all the wacky adventures that they get into. Something you should know is that there are a whole shit ton of references, like fifty per episode, but its not a big deal if you don;t get them cause its still pretty funny, but it is more so if you get the reference. It would be even more awesome if i got more of the references but hey its still ridiculously hilarious. There is also randomness abound. I will give you a suggestion, the version I downloaded had all the references explained at the top. Ignore them. You will enjoy it a whole lot more if you do NOT read these explanations.
Paprika (movie) Excellent Fuckin. Weird. It's made by the same people who made Paranoia Agent and boy you can tell. I even think there is a shared character between the two, the police guy in paprika and the police guy in paranoia agent, i seem to remember them looking very alike. Anyways, I really have nothing bad to say about this movie, I didn't give it a masterpiece because I just didn't feel like it deserved it. Usually when I rate something a masterpiece, I have a very strong urge to do so (like in the case of Oreimo or Clannad) but in this case I didn't feel that urge, funny because there is nothing wrong with this movie and in fact it is extremely awesome and weird and fucked up and a great adventure to watch. The animation is also really awesome and i don't have a problem with the voice acting, so in short, this is a movie that you need to see!!!!! And if you liked Paranoia Agent, you will most certainly like this movie.
Paranoia Agent (TV) Very good This was really cool, the plot was very good, the way everything fit together was awesome and there were some really good Chekhov's Guns too. The only problems I had was with the Filler episodes, there was like three of them, and only one of which i didn't like. I don;'t know how but they managed to make a suicide club funny. Some other plus points are the opening is really awesome, but really weird, the characters and the way they are drawn make them all very different, wheres some other animes some of the characters kind of blend together. This was really cool, and for plot complexity, it rivals Serial Experiments Lain, you should not miss this. Watch It.
Perfect Blue (movie) Excellent I finally finished it and holy shit is it ever fucked up, it can get really hard to follow, especially with he similar sounding names, but the plot twists and little things that are put into it are simply amazing. However, I find the animation to be pretty blah, some of the characters eyes are really weird, thereon the far extremes of their face, the only character it works with is the crazy fan boy, cause, hes, well, crazy. The voice acting is good and the music choices are excellent, the starting may be a little off putting, but it soon gets interesting and very very very intense. Some of the scenes are very difficult to watch, namely the play acting rape scene. But seriously, watch this, and don't be put off by the beginning like I was.
Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea (movie) Excellent This was a nice movie, nice to look at, doesn't make much sense but hey why does that matter. Damn those little mini ponyo's are cute as hell. That is all.
Princess Jellyfish (TV) Very good Ending is kind of poopy, but quite novel and interesting overall.
Princess Mononoke (movie) Very good It has pretty damn good animation, the drawing is better then average but not as good as, say, akira, but it looks good. The story is pretty origional, the only thing that bothered me was the moth movements of the animals, they don't match up to the voice acting, and I know there not really talking with their mouth, if they bother to animate them, they might as well make it match up with the talking.
Puella Magi Madoka Magica (TV) Masterpiece Holy piss tits. Seriously this is fucking amazing. It's does to the Magical Girl Genre what Neon genesis Evangelion did to the Giant Mecca Genre. Except this is way better. Filled with seriously twisted imagery, and crazy emotions, it is NOT what you would expect from first hearing about it or from seeing some images of it. I don't like the opening because it makes it seem like just a run of the mill Magical Girl anime, maybe it does this on purpose i don't know but it is anything but that. Woah. I will not say anything else of the story fearing that I may spoil stuff but I will say that the story is awesome. Also awesome is the animation, holy hell is it ever, especially in 1080p. The ending theme is also really cool. The opening theme is meh. At any rate watch this cause it is awesome and especially watch this is you like mind fuck stuff. Fuck. Also, I'm pretty sure some of the witch are based off the dude with the moustache on the pringles can.
Puni Puni Poemy (OAV) Very good (sub), Excellent (dub) Holy Shit. The craziness and insanity of Excel Saga cranked to eleven, it is hilarious and is only two episodes definitely worth watching, but only if you've watched excel saga, other wise you wouldn't understand some stuff. But me and a friend of mine watched it and he only saw one episode of excel saga and he still thought it was pretty hilarious. The dub makes it at least twice as funny, (the same effect the excel saga dub has).
Read or Die (OAV) Very good A quirky little series, feels a ll very spyish, thats cause there secret agents, kinda cheesy with its "violence is wrong!" shit. But it's still interesting to watch the ending is cool too, it has a good ending then it kind of ruins it but then you realise that they actually made it better. And holy crap is "Za Peypah" ever CUUUUUUTE!
Redline (movie) Very good First of all it is really hard to tell what the fuck is going on at any given point in time, there is just so much shit happening all at once, I also don't know whether to think it is awesome or shit, but i am leaning toward awesome. Under neath all the awesome imagery and crazy shit is a pretty standard plot, with a lot of things that seem stupid or don't make sense, but it still manages to be enjoyable due to the imagery and crazy shit. also it is pretty self deprecatingly funny sometimes. In all the music is kind of gay, but the artwork is amazing, and it is very entertaining. watch I also see elements of heavy metal and neon genesis Evangelion in it what with the art style and random side story about the biological super weapons.
RIN - Daughters of Mnemosyne (TV) Excellent Fucked. Up. Holy shit is it ever, but the plot is amazing and the characters are... Interesting to say the least. Sexual Pleasure and Sacrifice are obvious themes here, and boy howdy is it ever emotionally strong. Its also really cool how it goes through like 60 years of time too. Not as fucked as end of eva but really fucked up in different ways. A definite watch. Also, there are boobies and lesbian sex everywhere. Yay! Look at the Tv tropes Article for tons of info about it. One thing I especially like about this series is that Women and Men are both equally fucked up, what with all the sadism ect.
Rozen Maiden (TV) Very good Well, lets see, how to describe this? I guess its shonen NHK meets frackin ridiculously cute dolls, with dream and fantasy elements thrown in. It's pretty original in some ways, what with the dolls and shit, but other ways - which is where it loses all of its marks - it is very generic. Mostly with battles involving the big bad (namely, suigentu or whatever her name is, she's a super bitch BTW, but I still managed to feel a little bad when all that jazz happened to her) the battles are all like "Ha, ha, ha, you can't beat me! Oh but don't be so sure of yourself...." Blah, Blah, Blah and so on. But there are some pretty gruesome and cruel scenes that surprised me and added to the goodness of this anime, like when shinkus arm gets pulled off or where one of them is burnt. They also do some risque things - well, I'm sure they would be considered risque - what with the heavily implied thirteen year old boy and small doll romance. They also have some random incest hints too what with Jun's sister mumbling "No, we can't Jun-kun, were siblings".... Yeah. The dream delving I found to be cool, and a unique aspect of the anime. of course I can't go without mention Souiseiseki, the desu doll, and yes, its very true, there are very few sentences she says that don't end with desu, I would say 95% of what she says ends in desu. The opening is pretty awesome (one of my favorites) and i have no qualms about the voice acting or animation. Anyways, this was pretty good, and your bound to enjoy it if you can ignore the generic battles with super bitch giggle giggle giggle doll (she does that a lot, its pretty annoying). I also think there is a second season, though I don't know if i will watch it or not, as i think it is 26 episodes or something like that.
Rozen Maiden: Ouvertüre (special) Excellent Wow this is pretty friggin' cruel and sad. It explains the origins and some back story on the rozen maidens. Also i feel kind of bad for suigintou now, she went through a lot of shit. but by the end she is irrational and crazy. also rabbit in suit guy is pretty awesome, also found the era thing to be interesting. Good supplemental material to the series, though i think i should have watched the second series first cause there is stuff i didn't know about referenced in the OVAs. I still don't like Suigintou, but couldn't help but feel bad for her.
Rumbling Hearts (TV) Masterpiece Man this is balzin' sad. reminds me of Clannad and Kanon and the like, probably just cause of the common visual novel roots, they may be animated by the same company I'm not sure. This is not sad like Clannad, Clannad has super sad parts every once in a while, while this is sad throughout, with little bouts of comedy relief that I think merely add to the drama and sadness. I don't like the opening it's pretty meh but I do like the ending theme. When I first started it felt weird and i thought it would be shitty but hey it turned out to be somewhat different and really good. I say some what cause it kind of follows a "ways to make people sad" formula but the plot is actually fairly unique and not one that I have encountered before. Anyway if you dig Clannad or Kanon or like emotionally stimulating anime then this is for you. Man that was a satisfying ending, it is the choice I surely would have made, thus increasing its satisfaction. I think Imma give this a masterpiece, I just have a feeling. Ohhhhhhhhh not a brutal flashback ending. *sniff*
Sasameki Koto (TV) Very good Well, this was my first foray into this genre, and i enjoyed it well. It's a well constructed romance that's very funny, and its all girls loving each other! SWEET! The art style kind of reminds me of Azumanga Daioh for some reason, its fairly standard, but at some points its pretty detailed, like where they animate a mosquito buzzing around. There are a few crying scenes, and these are noted as being pretty realistic, as there awkward to watch as crying in real life is like. I do have one qualm, and that is the ending. The ending is pretty awesome, its just that i is so inconclusive! That bugs me soo much! And that usually doesn't bug me! Anyways, if your looking to get into the yuri genre, or you just want to try it out, this is a sure bet!
Sayonara Zetsubou-sensei (TV) Good Well this was certainly an interesting experience, all the humor is very dark - which is refreshing - It kind of reminds me of GTO mixed with lucky start mixed with pani poni dash. With having the main character solve other peoples problems and the randomness and conversation style of lucky star and the animation and random fan-service of pani poni dash. If i were to compare this to their other production (Pani Poni Dash) I would definitely say that Pani Poni Dash is better, its more funny, more interesting and its fun looking for all the references, but, something interesting I noticed is that Sayonara Zetsubou-Sensei would probably make a pretty good serious drama series with a few tweaks. I always enjoyed the different animation style with the textures staying still and him moving, ect. Anyways, in short this is refreshing and different, but the long gags got tiring, and since that's all the show is, so did the show.
School Days (TV) Very good This Anime... It will make you go from laughing (near the start of the run) and then for the rest (2/3) you will go from being very sad to hating the living shit out of a certain character. But at the same time make you feel SORRY for the same character. The Anime actually has two parts (not ones of the chronological sense) 1. There's the nice enough guy who by the end is a greedy, selfish jerk-ass, and then there the other part. The other part is that all the characters in the Anime push each other by lying, doing stuff behind their back etc. I's just a recipe for disaster and boy is that one chick fucked up in the end.... There's also an excessive amount of fan-service at the start but that goes away near the end. This is a definite watch but be prepared to feel some intense emotions.
School Days: Magical Heart Kokoro-chan (OAV) Decent What. The. Fuck. Seriously this is WTF! Its a bunch of the girls from School Days are magical girls, they need to save the city from setsunahara (short gray haired chick) from releasing gas that turns people into raping zombies. Yeah. Theres a random boobie shot and the tall dude that raps konohona gets naked for some reason. It doesn't even take the anime seriously, cause at one point two of the random new characters become a huge mecha and use the special move "bloody conclusion" yeah. At any rate its pretty funny but makes absolutely no sense and turns school days into something to laugh at which it is not.
School Days: Valentine Days (OAV) Good Pretty much as good as the tv run just less interesting and a little boring. Humorous though, and ignoring nice boat, you'd think the series was a feel good series
School Rumble (TV) Excellent Friggin hilarious, this is a great anime, good mixes of romances, comedy and slice of life, tho those all take a back seat to the comedy. It is really worth watching. It even has a few surprise tearjerkers!
School Rumble Sangakki (OAV) Excellent Just as good, it is more sad though but is still pretty funny. Watch it.
School Rumble: 2nd Semester (TV) Masterpiece Even better than the first season! It is funnier (somehow) has better animation and better voice acting and has better story.
School Rumble: Extra Class (OAV) Excellent Happens right after the first season is over, it is just as good.
Serial Experiments Lain (TV) Good Has good ideas and story but failed to keep my interest i had to force myself to watch it. It is also a pretty good mindfuck.
Speed Grapher (TV) Very good It starts out awesome, then gradually degrades in quality, then gets better then ends awesomely. The whole thing is pretty cliched but at the same time its pretty screwed up. Those peoples fetishes are really wierd... It may be cliched and i got tired of the whole this is this episodes baddie, kill him, move on thing, I still really enjoyed it.
Student Council's Discretion (TV) Very good Wow this was interesting, it does a fairly good job of mixing outrageous, self-referencing, genre savvy humor and a respectable romance? plot, i meant to put that question mark there by the way. Cause I'm not really sure if its romance, definitely related to romance but not exactly romance. It's hard to describe. It's basically about a guy who is repaying a bunch of girls who helped him in some way by making him happy (better then it sounds). There was a few things that annoyed me, but they were minor, mostly some of the characters and thats about it, but the annoyance wasn't very strong. Another thing I noticed is there are good references throughout (good because I get them) but the seem to decline in quantity from the start :(. Anyways, this was a good watch and I recommend it for mild reference otaku humor and a good romance plot. Good Stuff!
Summer Wars (movie) Masterpiece FUCK YEAH! This was awesome! The animation is bleepin awesome so is the drawing, the plot is great, though there a re a few cliches but BAH! The animation style reminds me of The girl who leapt through time, in fact, makoto looks kind of like kenji. Anyways this is awesome, you must watch it. MUST! The only sad thing is oba-sama so don;t worry too much about sad.
Time of Eve (ONA) Masterpiece :O So awesome! super original and just perfectly presented. In a mere hour or so it gets you attached to characters and I cried several time with a force rivalled only by clannad. Simply Amazing. The animation is super crazy awesome. Wow this is too amazing for words, and the humor is really original too! GAH! SOOO AMAZING! There is nothing i didn't like about this little ONA, I really hope there is more media related to it, but if not it ends very well with just the ONA.
Tokyo Godfathers (movie) Excellent Excellent of course considering the kon was behind it. But seriously this takes on a different mindset then most of his other stuff, its just a dramatic comedy but a really really good one. The dancing buildings at the end are interesting.... The only thing I don't really like is the animation, it's kind of shitty. The music is very interesting and of course as was the plot. Anyways this is awesome, original and very interesting, and easy to watch must see.
Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 (TV) Excellent This was really good, it is very good up until the end where it gets really awesome cause it gives an ending I hadn't really predicted and it is sad sad sad i got moderately teary eyed, not clanaad sad by long shot but yeah. I figured someone had to die but I didn't expect it to be Yuuki. When it showed him that he died and Mirai was actually dreaming I was anxious for the rest of the episode that she was just dreaming, but then thought oh good he is actually not dead so then I assumed it had to be someone that had to do with Mari, then they gradually start hinting that she is hallucinating and well poop hit the metaphorical fan in my brain. This was really awesome as I expected because it was to be placed in the same timeslot as Eden of the East. It really is interesting and sucky to think that this will happen to Tokyo in the future. I love the animation except for their smiles, they look weird and remind me of some animator that I can't remember. I like the ending theme but the opening theme is pretty annoying, mostly just because of the warbling note holding thing the singer does, who I am pretty sure is the same guy that does the darker than black opening. I do like the opening animation however. At any rate this was awesome with a killer (lol) ending. Watch it or be watched!
Toradora! (TV) Excellent Fuck they just have to fuck with your heart like that. Anyway. I'm glad the desired outcome came out int he end but damn do they take their time. Anyway, iz gud, don't want to give anything away.
Trigun (TV) Very good Another great anime tat has just as good a story, character development ect. as Cowboy BeBop, it seems somewhat kiddie r, even though it features adult themes. Weird huh? Warning, gets much more serious later on, turning from comedy to a psychological (not kidding!) I think i would have given it a better rating if it weren't for its sudden turn to the serious.
Welcome to the NHK (TV) Very good Well, from what I understand, there was the novel first and then the manga and the anime, and they all differ from the novel plot in some way, for instance the novel and manga show rampant drug use while in the anime it is confined only to senpai. Anyways, this was enjoyable, it was frickin hilarious, though i went into it expecting sadness as my friend had told me, but I found that even the parts that were supposed to be sad didn't hit me all that hard *cough* After Story *cough*. But there were time when I got a little teary eyed, though I suspect you weren't really supposed to at that timie. Another thing is that I got very frustrated with the stagnancy of some of the plot elements, like the romance between protagonist and short black haired chick (trying to avoid spoilies). They just kind of abandon it a ways through. Also the stupidity sometimes got to me, like, HELLO ITS OBVIOUS SOMETHING IS BOTHERING HER. Anyways overall a very good series that i enjoyed watching. They also toned down the loliness in the anime though hinted at it. There are some real crowners too in the funny department as well. OK, now yhat I've read the novel, its waaaay different, the novel is much more depressing, while the anime is pretty funny a lot of times, the novel is rarely funny. Also in the novel it is esplicitely said that he was looking at images of little girls, fuckwad.
When They Cry - Higurashi (TV) Very good An excellent anime, has good characters, plot, and has some really intense moments of justice and sadness that make you cheer the thing on or gape in horror. The opening is fucking awesome. This an anime of a visual novel, covering the first (four i believe?) story arcs known as the Question arcs, it is designed to ask questions, which get answered later on the second season.
When They Cry - Kai (TV) Excellent Better then the first season, giving off a much stronger atmosphere, it also has a lot less blood and violence in it then the first season, kinda sucks but not a big deal. But wow they manage to make you feel sorry for droopy-tan, how the fuck!? Also you will not see the ending coming (probably) its so unlike Higurashi!
When They Cry - Rei (OAV) Excellent I think I would almost consider this to be the best of the series, I was actually really freaked out for a few seconds in the second episode with Rena saying DISMEMBERMENT MURDERS?! but for the most part the whole thing is pretty mellow, just the middle three episodes is when anything really happens. At any rate I really like the opening, the animation is OK and for the most part the audio is good except for mions voice sounds pretty echo-y sometimes, probably just cause of her moving far away from the mike during louder dialog. Anyway yeah great and especially so if you liked the rest of the series. Also I think this is right after the first season, though it was released after the the second.
xxxHOLiC (TV) Good Well, this was certainly interesting, lots of legends and metaphorical stuff and whatnot. But i fucking hated the animation, its terrible, i mean it is. Some people try and argue that its just the style it uses, but it IS just lazy animation, you can tell by the fact that every single background person is just an outline and the fact that other then the backgrounds, the drawing lacks detail, and backgrounds are easy and much less time consuming to draw by comparison. Another thing I hated was the stupid girls, (Yuko's bitches) there soooo annoying, its really just their voices that are annoying, and what they do to some extent. It is pretty funny and interesting though, I will give it that.
Yuruyuri - Happy Go Lily (TV) Excellent This was very funny, refreshingly funny in a different way also there is tons of yuri *thumbs up* its awesome. The animation is pretty standard, I quite like the opening though it is ridiculously cute. Yui-senpai! So yeah nothing much else to say, good to watch just for fun, especially if you like yuri. Good Stuff!
Yuruyuri - Happy Go Lily (TV2) Excellent More of the same, I guess if anything its a little funnier but really, just could be another half of a 24 episodes series hahaha.
