Here's what's been announced for the Winter 2026 season so far as I know. I prioritize days over dates since that's how I fill out my own calendar. Unless otherwise noted, the anime are being streamed by Crunchyroll.
HiDive has co-acquired the rights to Oshi Ko No Season 3 after streaming the first two seasons. If Anime Timetable is right - and their track record is pretty stellar - Sentenced to Be a Hero has been switched to Thursdays, so I'll change it accordingly. Hellmode was switched to Fridays. Now that things have mostly premiered, here's a chart to make it easier to reference if anybody wants to. Wha-- what??? Crunchyroll released its Winter 2026 schedule??? I had no idea! Heh.
Anyhoo, I've got 7 sequels I'm schoolgirl squeally excited for: Fire Force (TV 4) Frieren: Beyond Journey's End (TV 2) Golden Kamuy Final Season (TV 5) Hell's Paradise (TV 2) Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3: The Culling Game Part 1 (TV 3) Medalist (TV 2) 'Tis Time for "Torture," Princess (TV 2) Recently, I have actually dropped the sequels of once loved shows like Laid-back Camping, Konsuba, One Punch Man and others but I don't think that will happen this time. I might get tired of 'Tis Time for "Torture," Princess's comedic conceit, I suppose. There have been sections of both Kamuy and Kaisen that have tested my patience, but I still think I'll see them through. I won't list all 24 new shows I've circled in my calender, but I'll mention the ones I'm most hyped for: The Case Book of Arne, Champignon Witch, The Darwin Incident, Dead Account, The Invisible Man and His Soon-to-Be Wife, Journal with Witch, Kaya-chan Isn't Scary, and Wash It All Away. Looks like it'll be a good season! |

Ahhk! You fiend! Once I'd started making that schedule I couldn't stop until I was finished - I was almost late for work this morning.
Anyhow, if nobody else gets up to it, I'll toss some threads up this weekend. My big sequels are Frieren, Hell's Paradise, Jujutsu Kaisen, and My Hero Academia: Vigilantes. Less prominent is MF Ghost season 3, but I'll reliably be there. I might catch the last season of Golden Kumuy. I got burned out on the neverending series of coincidences, complications, and non-fatal action scenes somewhere mid season 3. Speaking of which, now that I'm on vacay, I think I'll start binge watching the last season of MHA now...it is over, right? I had two surprises - one is that Crunchyroll took Oshi No Ko away from HiDive. The bully. The other is that Saturday is so light this season. Usually Saturday is jam packed and pickings are slim Monday through Friday, but Saturday is looking somewhat anorexic compared to Sunday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Of course, Crunchyroll still has those six TBA boxes. As to the new shows, I already put my best guesses forward. Now that Crunchyroll has pulled the trigger, more English subtitled trailers and such ought to start appearing, and I'll go a little more in depth. |

I am pretty excited for Winter 2026 since there are a lot of sequels I want to see yet there are plenty of fresh shows too and some of them seem rather quirky. To name some of both groups that I look forward to and why:
'Tis Time for "Torture," Princess Season 2 since the first season was very charming with lots of fun characters (it did not become stale either). My Hero Academia: Vigilantes Season 2 because it reminded me of why I liked the main series so much during the first few seasons. Chained Soldier Season 2 because it is highly cultured. Fire Force Season 3 Part 2 I am worried about since it is the final part and they have a lot to adapt (88 chapters in 12 episodes or so). Frieren: Beyond Journey's End Season 2 is the one I want to see the most since the first season was so special. Hell's Paradise Season 2 mainly due to the island being such a weird setting, I want to know more about it. Scum of the Brave for having heroes who are basically assassins and anything but heroic. Kaya-chan Isn't Scary seems like it will be both cute and creepy not unlike Mieruko-chan. Hell Mode: The Hardcore Gamer since a wacky mc mastering a broken game could be fun. The Case Book of Arne has a vampire detective. |

Updated the opener and Discussion Index to list all of the popular shows for the season. By "popular" I used the follower count on MAL and counted anything over 3K followers as such. I also used the dates listed on MAL's seasonal slate, which I think are actually the Japanese premieres, so some of these might end up changing, later.
I'll do my usual opener-editing and meticulous cross-referencing to make sure all the popular shows have a thread. If anybody spots a discrepancy, feel free to post about it or message me for a quick-fix. |

No hot spring cooked egg for you! When I clicked on the now deleted "Coffee Machines for a Small Office" thread I was disappointed to find out it was SPAM rather than the title of a new anime I had not heard of, as the subject would be promising for an office comedy.

Everything in the opener copied from the Index should be up-to-date, in terms of what days they air. And all threads have been updated to reflect the start dates in North America. It's just a matter of whether or not the unlicensed titles get picked up by any major platforms. If they do, I'll make the proper edits.

Except for Washing It All away and Journal with Witch, I haven’t found any of the other new shows that sound interesting to me for this season. All the shows that I’m interested in are all the shows returning for new seasons.

Today (Thursday, January 8) is a big day for me anime-wise: the premieres of Champignon Witch, The Invisible Man and His Soon-to-Be Wife, as well as of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3: The Culling Game Part 1. I will also check out The Holy Grail of Eris, but I'm not as hyped for it.

For Medalist S2, is that Disney+ in Japan, or North America as well?
S1 lists Hulu for NA, which is still technically Disney umbrella, unless S2 is actually moving from Hulu to D+ in NA? I usually just go based on what's in the ANN Encyclopedia, but there's no platform listed for S2, yet, and I assume it'll just be the same as S1 (Hulu). |
