Really shows itself as a precursor to Clannad. Falls short of how good it was though. Understandable why it's lesser known in comparison. Shared some of the problems Angel Beats had - too short and tried to have too many feels too quickly. All that said however it was by no means bad, teared up a couple times, and I definitely enjoyed it. 8.7/10
(I also kind of didn't like how it ended but I won't spoil anything. OH and the OP is amazing, I usually skip them but I had trouble ever skipping it.) |

Mix of a lot of good elements and some things I didn't like. I'll start with the good. I really liked a lot of the characters, Akame and Esdeath at first, then Mine grew on me quite a bit. The action was good, but still over the top and ridiculous at times. It was definitely entertaining, I couldn't stop watching(23 episodes marathoned in 1 day). Now for the problems. Tatsumi just felt like a generic male lead. He never grew on me too much, his death didn't upset me really. The only character deaths that really affected me were the first, Shelle, because it was like "oh shit they just killed off a main character" and Mine because she grew on me quite a bit, being the only one in Night Raid to show any real romantic feelings. Yeah I know it's tagged as a tragedy and not a romance anime, but I feel like it would have been a lot better if there was more romance and less tragedy. With no romance I didn't get as attached to any of the other characters, and with so much tragedy after the first 2 main characters deaths I just came to expect it and didn't really get the feels too hard. I teared up a couple times(worst was Mine's death, followed by Shelle's) but yeah it wasn't that bad for being a tragedy anime. The ending was ok... but jesus did you really need to kill off nearly everyone but Akame? Grill ranking time I guess. Akame>Esdeath=Mine>Shelle=Leone>Najenda=Chelsea. Sadly I was expecting to rate this anime around a 9.4/10 after the first 12 episodes, but it went downhill a little in the second half. Despite all the problems I really enjoyed the hell out of it so I can't give it less than this. 9.0/10 |

Really up and down. The start was good. Michiru's route ok but rushed. Yumiko's was really bad, rushed like crazy and I didn't like the changes. Sachi's was alright. Makina's was pretty good only the ending changed a little. Amanes was pretty good accurate until the ending and I liked the changes. For it to be good it needed to be either 24 episodes or only do one route. I am happy to know the next 2 seasons are already coming, and they are covering the untranslated sequels. Girl ranking from the VN is Yumiko>Makina=Sachi>Amane>Michiru. 8.5/10 |

Wow, can't believe the day has finally came. I found an anime I liked as much as After Story. I disliked nothing about it. All of the characters were amazing and well developed. The plot twisting story was amazing. The humor was great. The ending good beyond words. Nothing will ever top the feels and symbolism of After Story, but Kill la Kill is near as good. Edit: Looking back I feel like i overrated KLK a bit, caught up in how hype the show felt. It was great but looking back I don't feel it's quite on Clannad or Madoka level. 9.6/10 |

Urabe was just a wonderful character, shes in my top list now. So cute. I couldn't stop watching and had no trouble finishing it in one night. The romance, though weird to say the least, was perfectly done. I don't even know where to start. Best anime i've watched in a long time, up there with Clannad and Madoka. What is with all these shit taste pleb ratings here on ANN. Characters were great. The ones that needed to be developed were developed well and the others were fine. You fall in love with Isla right along with MC. OP/ED music was good. I watched the OP on the last episode(normally don't) and i'll admit the song alone made me tear up knowing what was about to happen. Story is great, makes you think about life and such. Just very beautiful in general. Lots of symbolism abound if you watch for it. Visuals are good, perhaps nothing special but it looks totally modern, nothing to complain about. Now for the good stuff. Romance. It's the best one i've seen in anime since Clannad and Chuuni. Cuteness everywhere. Feels everywhere. I cried an embarassing amount the last 2 episodes and a few more times before that. I'll keep this spoiler free I suppose, but one particular scene in the last episode I felt like my heart stopped or something for a few seconds. It was a really strange experience, not quite felt anything like it before. Now even an hour or two after finishing there is two things i'm not quite sure on. One, did I like it more than Clannad. I'm not sure right now, for now i'm going to give it the same rating. Two, did I like Isla more than Rikka. Not sure, but i'm leaning on yes. Again I won't spoil anything with the last episode/ending, but it's beyond anything you could imagine. 9.7/10 |

Took me some time to gather my thoughts after watching this one. I knew as I got further into it it would be one of the top anime's I've seen. All elements of it were good beyond words so I won't go much into that. It's up there in the same tier with After Story and Kill La Kill. I liked these three all about the same, but if I had to order my top 3 right now it would probably be #1 After Story at around a 9.68/10, #2 Madoka around 9.66/10, #3 Kill La Kill around 9.62/10. After Story has the feels, story, and character development that will never be topped, Kill La Kill has the action, comedy, and plot twists that are great, and finally Madoka is "in the middle" with it's story, feels, character development, and action. One thing special about Madoka is it is by far the best 12 episode anime that I have seen; it's just incredible the character development and plot they put together in so few episodes - and of course all done with Shaft's beautiful animation and style. Really one of those few anime's that remind me why I came to love anime and how amazing it can be. There are a few more anime's I have to watch that have potential to be in this tier, but for now this is where it stands. I'll be watching the Madoka movies soon, hopefully they are as good as this was. 9.7/10 |

Freakin site I use threw in the OVA in the middle of the series by accident, I was so confused for a few episodes. Anyway, show definitely has some high points and some flaws. Due to the nature of the story most of the characters don't really get much development outside of Furumi and Chiaki. On that note Chiaki's backstory in episode 9 was so well done, I teared up a bit that episode. The ending on the other hand was a bit melodramatic and I kinda felt it was lacking somehow. The show was good overall, but the story made it hard to get attached to the characters outside of Furumi and Chiaki - I did like both of them quite a lot though. 8.3/10 (Oh yeah and there are some bits of yuri thrown in, kek) |

Lisara was great. Very well done and not over the top, believable tsundere. Rest of the characters were alright or meh. Tons and tons of boobs and showed em too. The fanservice was nice, story kind of ok but sketchy at times, and i'm glad the two I wanted ended up together. Quick girl ranking Lisara >> Quele=Iria >> Mina. I'm gonna give it a very good on ANN but i'll rate it this because the last episode/ending was really nice. 8.0/10 |

Just like the 1st season the 1st half was a lot better than the 2nd. I liked Sinon a lot, and Asuna still. GGO was great, but i was expecting there to be something more to it after the arc ended("This is not over. This is not the end." oh wait, yes it is). Excalibur arc was kinda boring and felt pointless. I liked that they developed Asuna and showed more of her story in Mothers Rosario but it felt like it was there for the feels at the end. The feels did hit me, but it felt a bit forced. I'll split up my rating like I did for the 1st season since it varied so much. Gun Gale 8.9/10, Excalibur 8.2/10, Mothers Rosario 8.6/10 |

Holy shit for the first time ever I liked a guy character more than any of the girls. Arata is hands down my favorite male anime character of all time. Guy is the alpha based god himself, finally a character who reacts realistically when showered with hot chicks. Really good voice actor too. Anyway, as for the anime itself it was quite good. Great comedy, fanservice, and action. Story was alright. Looking forward to season 2 quite a lot. Grill ranking is tough, they are all good and close Lilith>Levi=Arin>Yui=Sora>Mira>Lieselotte=Selina>Lugh 8.7/10 |

Man, this actually reminded me of Clannad. First season was just average-good, mainly used for building up characters, story, and mystery. Then the second season comes and just blows it out of the water masterfully using the story and characters built up in the first season. Proud to say I called who the main villain would be early in the first season, and knew who the most important kid would be quite early on. Most everything else kept me guessing though. The first season was hard to follow what was going on but it was definitely worth it and made the second season much more enjoyable. Guess i'll do a girl ranking... Rika>Rena>Shion>Mion>Satoko. 9.1/10 |

Another solid anime. Felt a little drawn out but I guess it was good for the character development. Too many episodes is always better than rushed and no development, 12 episodes wouldn't have been nearly enough for this. Anyway, mild cliffhanger at the end(good ending point though), can't wait for season 2. Has a lot of potential to be great for sure, it better happen or I will be damn upset. Only one girl in this one... but Yona is definitely a best. 9.0/10 |

Been awhile since I finished an anime, pretty much had to watch this with so many people recommending it. Generally great art and animation, some of the art was like wut though lol. Generally just really damn good story. I liked Kaori and Tsubaki the most, also the loli blonde was alright. Some of the side characters were just zzzz don't care. Some parts of it were kind of boring. I didn't like mc sometimes. Also if i was supposed to get feels for his mom I didn't, she was mostly just an asshole. I went into it being really critical since it was so highly recommended, and I did find a lot of things I kind of didn't like, but at the same time it was really great overall.
NOW. That last episode though. Longest i've cried watching any anime. Close to the hardest too. I can see why people told me to watch it after seeing that. Contender for the best episode of anime i've ever seen, definitely top 3. Without that last episode I would be giving around an 8.8-8.9, but with it i'm going to give it this. 9.1/10 |
