| Appleseed (movie) | Awful | Really really incomprehensible, and the English dub had subpar voices and acting. Not recommended at all, at least in English. |
| Appleseed: Ex Machina (movie) | Awful | See Appleseed. |
| Black Butler (TV) | Excellent | Not for everyone, but the dark atmosphere it creates while still managing to inject humour is fantastic. The music is impressive (ending 2 especially), the visuals are very pretty, and the story does follow a clear path to its end. Stands alone as a modern triumph. Don't miss it. |
| Black Butler II (TV) | Excellent | Takes a couple episodes to pick up, but when it does, it's just as good as the first, with what may potentially be a tighter story. Certain characters grew on me due to plot twists, and at the end I found myself rooting for someone I'd barely cared for up to that point. Marvelous. |
| Black Rock Shooter (OAV) | Excellent | I can't give this one a perfect score as it didn't grab me from the start and takes two watchings to fully understand, but god DAMN is this a good OAV. Definitely one for anyone to watch. |
| Colorful (TV) | Good | A fun if pervy romp. Great to watch with friends. |
| (The) Girl Who Leapt Through Time (movie) | Masterpiece | Incredible. A masterpiece of modern anime. Everyone needs to see it at least once. |
| INTERSTELLA 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem (movie) | Excellent | Uses the music to great effect, and the animation is lovely if a little dated. Great for Daft Punk fans, anime fans, and pretty much anyone else. |
| Pokémon: The Rise of Darkrai (movie 10) | Good | Enjoyable Pokemon fare--predictable, but not bad because of it. |
| Puella Magi Madoka Magica (TV) | Masterpiece | Absolutely incredible. The first anime that's made me cry. Deserves the hype, and more. I would hesitate to call it a deconstruction, however--but it is an incredible magical girl anime nonetheless. |
| Rozen Maiden (TV) | Excellent | Really, REALLY good, though does not stand on its own and needs Traumend to really understand more of the plot. Some plotholes prevent it from being perfect. |
| Rozen Maiden: Ouvertüre (special) | Masterpiece | Stands alone and tells its story exquisitely. Sympathy for the devil and all... |
| Spirited Away (movie) | Masterpiece | Deserves all the hype it gets. |
