Comment:
On February 1, 2015, creator Monty Oum died of an allergic reaction to a medical procedure. Aside from directing the series and writing several episodes, he voiced Lie Ren. Following his death, his older brother Neath Oum took over the role of Lie Ren in Volume 3. In addition, Kerry Shawcross took over Monty's role as series director.
Volumes 1-5 were released on multiple online platforms. Volumes 6-8 were released exclusively on Rooster Teeth's website due to YouTube demonetizing several episodes on the company's channel. Volume 9 was released exclusively on Crunchyroll.
On February 5, 2019, Vic Mignogna was fired from his role as Qrow Branwen amidst allegations of sexual misconduct at anime conventions dating back to 2008. On July 1, Jason Liebrecht was announced as Mignogna's replacement starting with Volume 7.
