Angel Sanctuary (OAV) Weak Not a very big fan of incest. I'm also not a big fan of emo kids and confusing plots. I know some people really enjoy this show, and power to them. I was just not impressed by what little I saw.
(The) Animatrix (OAV) So-so I only saw one of the six shorts back in high school, and it was mildly interesting. I have the collection on DVD, but I have not been interested enough to view all of them. I will get around to it eventually.
Aquarion (TV) Weak I love the soundtrack, being a fan of Yoko Kanno, and the animation is very beautiful, but those things could not save a weak plot or questionable characters. I have only seen the first couple of episodes, and will likely not see the rest.
Basilisk (TV) Good The animation is beautiful, and I enjoy most of the characters. The plot was still unfolding, and my curiosity is piqued. I want to see the rest of it someday.
Bastard!! (OAV) So-so I only saw the first episode, and it was wildly confusing. It seemed as though one was expected to already understand what was happening. Perhaps the plot becomes clear later on, but I was not inspired for the rest.
BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad (TV) Good The music and the characters were enough to grab me right away, and I enjoyed the few episodes I was able to view. This is another one that I hope to one day finish.
Best Student Council (TV) So-so I only viewed one episode, and the circumstances surrounding it were questionable in and of themselves. That said, I could not warm up very well to the characters, and was not very impressed by the episode I watched. I doubt I will see more.
Bleach (TV) Decent I have only seen the odd episode here and there, and admit total confusion. It seems as though this series is one that must be viewed from the beginning for all of the pieces to fit. I have also had bits spoiled for me by people who have seen far more. When I can afford the box sets, I would like to see what is happening in the world of this series.
Blood+ (TV) Good I have not seen very many episodes of this, but I am intrigued. The animation is very nice, and the characters are interesting. I want to see how this series changes from what was seen in the movie, Blood: The Last Vampire, from which is it a spinoff.
Blue Gender (TV) So-so It has been several years since I saw a few episodes on Adult Swim. I do not remember much of what I saw, but I recall the animation being decent. I am not very interested in seeing more at this time.
Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo (TV) Weak I believe I have only seen one episode of this on television, and it was not a very enjoyable plot. The characters were just a little bit too strange for me to like, and I could not understand anything that was happening. Thankfully, I will recognize this show if I should again stumble across it, and will know to change the station.
Bomberman Jetters (TV) So-so I only saw one episode, and it left so little of an impression upon me that I cannot remember much of the plot or the characters. Perhaps fans of the original video games would be more interested.
Bubblegum Crisis: Tokyo 2040 (TV) Good A friend loaned me this series, and it's a lot of fun. The premise is interesting, and the characters are likable. I am not fond of the dub, however, and prefer the subtitled version. I'd like to see the rest of it someday.
Chobits (TV) Very good While there is some fan service in this series, the characters are enjoyable and there is some amusement within the series along with serious moments. The art style is very crisp and clean, and the music is catchy and fun. I am still working on finishing it.
Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion (TV) So-so I have not seen very many episodes of this series. The art style is lovely, but that is about all I can say about it. Perhaps if I had followed more of it, I would have a greater impression. As it stands, it is unlikely I will see more of this series.
Death Note (TV) Good I enjoy the anime more than the manga. I'm not fond of the main "protagonist", but I enjoy the rest of the characters immensely. I understand this is a long series, and it will take me a while to get caught up. Unfortunately, I have had some of it spoiled by my friends who viewed it first, so that puts a bit of a damper on this anime relationship.
Eureka Seven (TV) Very good I saw a few discs of this, and was left wanting to see more. The artwork is lovely, and the opening sequence is one of my favorites. The only drawback is there are so many characters, I can't always keep them all straight or remember all of their names. I would like to see the rest.
Excel Saga (TV) Not really good I didn't see much of this, but what I saw was more than enough. The plot was non-existent, and especially in the final episode, the fan service was very over-the-top. Fans of zany comedies would probably enjoy it more, but in my case, it simply resulted in a headache and wanting to watch something more intelligent.
Final Fantasy: Unlimited (TV) Weak I have never played the video games, but I had friends that did. We watched a couple of episodes of this, and even the fans of the games disliked it. The plot and characters were so badly developed that I can't remember anything other than my disgust. Have not touched it since.
FLCL (OAV) So-so I remember catching some of this on Adult Swim a few years ago, and I suppose it was enjoyable enough, other than the fact that I can't remember very much. I think this is one that I will need to watch again in order to try and figure it out.
Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu (TV) Good I think this is a good compliment to its prequel, Full Metal Panic. I have not seen very many episodes, but they have all managed to make me laugh. It's nice to see some of the relationships developing between characters. I do want to see the rest someday.
Fullmetal Alchemist (TV) Very good I only saw the first season, and have always wanted to see the rest. I was roommates with someone who abhorred anime in favor of reality TV, and did not have a chance to see the rest. I will pick up the box sets when I am able.
Galaxy Angel (TV) Good From what I have seen of this, it's very cute, light, and fun. I loved the characters and the art style immediately. I really want to see more of it, and hopefully will be able to someday.
Gantz (TV) Good I have seen the first half and a bit of the second half. The violence is soberingly over-the-top, and it's difficult to get attached to the characters because so many of them lose their lives. The concept was intriguing, and while I am curious to explore it further, it will be a while before I get that chance.
Ghost Hunt (TV) Good I only got to see one episode of this. The concept was interesting, but the characters seemed a bit stereotyped and forgettable. Perhaps this changes as the series goes on. I did like the art style, however. I want to see the rest when I am able.
Gilgamesh (TV) Not really good The thing that bothered me the most was that all of the characters look exactly the same, save for hair and eye color. I didn't see much of this, granted, but the plot was convoluted and I honestly didn't really like any of the characters. Perhaps it gets better as it goes on. As it stands, it is low on my list of series to finish.
Gunbuster (OAV) Very good I only saw the first episode of this short series, but was left wanting more. I liked that the characters were expected to actually learn what they were doing, instead of being tossed into a mecha and automatically knowing what to do. I'm not sure when I'll get to see more, but I look forward to it.
Gurren Lagann (TV) Excellent This series is a whole lot of fun, and I like all of the characters I was able to meet. It doesn't take itself too seriously, but it remembers to weave a story into it as well. The only real problem I had was with the heroine's overly fanservicey outfit, but her personality was very strong. I can't wait to see the rest.
.hack//SIGN (TV) So-so I saw the first five episodes a few years ago, and it did not leave much of an impression upon me. I kept being reminded of people on a set of video game forums I used to frequent, and that did not really improve it. The art style was decent enough. Fans of MMORPG-style games would probably enjoy this more.
Hell Girl (TV) Decent I saw an episode of this, and the concept was interesting. I didn't get much of an impression, but the animation was pretty. I have been told that it gets repetitive as it goes on, and am unsure about checking out the rest.
Hellsing Ultimate (OAV) Good I have not seen the original series, and only saw the first special. I think the first one did a decent job of summarizing the story, and the action was good. It moved a little bit fast, though. I wouldn't mind seeing more of it.
His and Her Circumstances (TV) Good This is just a sweet little love story, and I am saddened that it will be a while before I can see more of it. The characters were likable, and I was enjoying seeing the relationship between the two main characters develop.
Human Crossing (TV) Decent It's quite schmaltzy. The episodic style does give one time to focus only on the characters in that particular story, and it works well. The artwork isn't terribly fancy, but that's also fine for this series. Each episode can be somewhat predictable. It's easy to take your time going through this short series.
Infinite Ryvius (TV) So-so The plot was not very interesting to me, and I was annoyed by the constant mispronunciation of the German used in this series. The characters did not leave much of an impression, other than being annoyed by some of them. Perhaps this improves as it goes on, but I am not terribly interested in seeing more of it at this time.
Inuyasha (TV) Good I have always been a fan of Takahashi's art style, and this got props for that. I enjoyed the few episodes I was able to catch on television, and am the owner of the first two seasons. I have not yet started watching them, but I am looking forward to getting caught up with the story.
Kaleido Star: New Wings Extra Stage (OAV) Very good I am a fan of the first season, and was very happy to see a bit of the second season. I did not see enough of it to see how it differs from the first season, but hopefully that will be rectified when I am able to purchase this for myself.
Kanon (TV 2/2006) Good What caught me was the gorgeous art style, and I was very impressed with the voice acting. The music was also a lovely compliment. The characters were enjoyable. I would not mind seeing more of this at all.
Key the Metal Idol (OAV) Excellent I am slowly making my way through my box set of this. I am liking the plot and character development, and am wondering which direction the show is going to take. The music is also quite good, and the opening sequence is surreal.
Kiddy Grade (TV) Good My friend introduced me to a couple of episodes of this, and the gorgeous animation caught my attention immediately. The characters were charming, and I wanted to learn more about the world of Kiddy Grade. Hopefully I will someday.
Kimba the White Lion (TV 1/1965) Good I'm a sucker for animals, and loved this story right from the start. I was only able to watch the first episode, and it has held up well for its time. The animation (not to mention the physics) was a little off, but those things can be overlooked. I'd be thrilled to see the rest.
Kurau: Phantom Memory (TV) Decent The animation was my favorite part of this, since it is quite beautiful, visually. The concept was a bit odd and interesting at the same time, but I sadly won't get to see more of this for a long while.
Last Exile (TV) Very good This show has one of my favorite opening theme songs, and it is visually stunning. The episode I ended on was at a very tense moment, and when I am able to snap up this puppy, I hope I will discover what happened with the characters I had grown to adore.
Madlax (TV) Good I think the music is likely my favorite part of this. I also like the characters, although I did not get a chance to learn very much about them or how they are all connected. This is another series that I would not mind finishing.
Magic Knight Rayearth (TV) Good I have been trying to make my way through this series for years. I love the characters, and while I haven't gotten very far into it, I am very eager to see what direction the story is going to take. I already own it, I just need to get through it. I will say that the subtitled version is easier on the ears than the early English dubbing.
Mahoromatic - Automatic Maiden (TV) Decent This story tends to rely on fanservice more than I prefer, and the plot seems to be sketchy at best. The characters weren't unlikable, however, and the art style was decent enough. This isn't one I'm interested in seeing any more of, but I've seen much worse.
Maria Watches Over Us (TV) Decent Very pretty, visually, and very relaxing. Almost too relaxing. The episode I was able to see was extremely slow-paced, and while I am wondering if things pick up as it goes on, I'm content to leave this as it is at the moment.
Martian Successor Nadesico (TV) Good My overall impression is that this is a very hyper show, but it also moves pretty quickly. The characters do seem to have a slight bit of depth to them, but I am worried if this will fall into the "filler" trap. I have this box set, so I am making my way through it.
Mermaid Forest (TV) Good The story is actually a little creepy, but has a way of drawing you in. I like the characters a little more as I learn about them and their pasts, but darned if hideous creatures don't make continual appearances. I have this complete series, and I am very curious to see where this story is going to go.
Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny (TV) So-so I know a few people who absolutely love this show, and power to them. The little I have seen of it has not really managed to impress me very much, however, and it's extremely difficult for me to warm up to any of the cast. It may be stunning visually, and the music is all right, but I'm fine with leaving this series to its die hard fans.
Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team (OAV) Good This was really the first exposure I'd had to any of the Gundam series, but I very much liked what I was able to see. It's refreshing to see capable adults in charge, rather then the usual teenagers, and I liked most of the characters well enough. I would like to see the rest eventually.
Monster (TV) Excellent From what little I was able to see, this story is going to very dark places, and I was both afraid and deathly curious to see what those were. I was very sympathetic with the doctor and the situation that was going on, but could feel the tension beneath the surface. I think this is one that is worth exploring more fully.
Moribito - Guardian of the Spirit (TV) Masterpiece This is one of the best series I have had the pleasure of viewing in years. The story and the characters are compelling, the art style if gorgeous, and it strikes the perfect balance of action and downtime. I cannot wait for the chance to see more of this.
Mushi-Shi (TV) Masterpiece The pacing is slow and graceful. It doesn't waste time trying to tell you what happens, but spends a lot of time simply showing you with a soft, gentle style, and letting your imagination go to work. It's a good mix of relaxing and suspenseful. I'm looking forward to seeing more of this.
Naruto (TV) So-so I know many people are fans of this show, and good for them. I didn't see very much of it, but caught some episodes on television. The main character's voice was immensely irritating, and the plot was so far advanced, there was no hope of following it. I'm okay without seeing more.
Neon Genesis Evangelion (TV) So-so This is one that I do want to like, and I did see a few of the episodes. The story was interesting, and I liked some of the characters, but I couldn't get into it very much. I've been told that the upcoming remake is better, and I'm interested in checking that out instead.
Noein - to your other self (TV) Good (dub & sub) How awesome to see a series that lets kids be kids. The art style is very simple, but the characters, plot, and wonderful theme songs more than make up for it. Even characters that don't seem likable at first are beginning to grow on me. I'm very eager to finish this one.
Otogi Zoshi (TV) Very good Pretty. Pretty, pretty, pretty. The voice acting was also quite good. There were some cultural references that were escaping me slightly, but it just means I need to do my own research. I have the complete series in my possession, and I plan to get to the rest when I am able.
Paradise Kiss (TV) Very good A friend introduced me to this, and as he predicted, I loved it. I went out and bought it for myself, and also picked up and devoured the manga. I'm about halfway through this now, and am immensely pleased with it thus far.
Paranoia Agent (TV) Very good I am both terrified and immensely curious to see the conclusion of this series. It seemed that on each episode, I understood less of what was happening, although it also felt as though I should have been closer to knowing. Maromi is extremely cute, although people believe I'm insane for thinking so. I'd like to understand why this is.
Phoenix (TV) So-so I admit to being turned off by the artwork and the voice acting in the episode I saw. It was very predictable, as well. Perhaps it does improve as it goes on, but I'm not terribly eager to see the rest.
Planetes (TV) Good It's always fun to have a story about the Joe Schmoes instead of the people on top. I liked all of the characters, and the music was very nice. There were a few problems with character growth, but hopefully that does change as the series progresses. This story is very human.
Pokémon (TV) Decent I saw this on television when I was in middle school, and followed it until I was into my second year of high school. Yes, it's kind of cheesy now, but I cannot fault it. It's one of the series that dragged me into this whole mess, and it will always have a special place in my heart. Now I feel old, because there are Pokemon now that I have never heard of. Sigh.
Pumpkin Scissors (TV) Good This series has a very quirky cast of characters that play off each other very well, and shows the aftermath of war in a very different way. The animation is also very nice. I would be happy to continue following this series.
Ragnarok The Animation (TV) Worst ever This is the most painful thing I've ever watched, and I cannot think of anything kind to say about it. If you are a fan of this show, more power to you.
Ramen Fighter Miki (TV) Weak This show very much hurt my brain. The animation was decent enough, but that's about all I can give it props for. Very weak plot, one-dimensional characters, and massive amounts of confusion did not do it for me. Fans of very zany comedies might like this one better.
Ranma ½ (TV) Decent I have a friend who loves this show, and I finally watched a bit of it just to shush him up. It's cute, I admit, and I like the animation style. I only saw a couple of episodes, and it is most certainly one that you need to follow from the beginning in order to make sense of it. It didn't bore me, however, which is a good thing. I'm content to leave it as it is at the moment.
Red Garden (TV) Very good I knew I wanted to see this from the first moment I heard about it, and was happy when I was able to watch a preview episode. I was trying to collect the series, but the local Best Buy was not cooperating with getting the discs in. I have the second disc and the art box in my possession, and am looking forward to the day I can finally watch it.
Requiem from the Darkness (TV) Good I only saw an episode of this a couple of years ago, but the plot seemed like it would take the viewer into all kinds of dark places. The animation was crisp and nice, and the characters were interesting. Wouldn't mind getting to see the rest.
Revolutionary Girl Utena (TV) Very good I got to see a bit of this in high school, and thought it was amazing. The characters were compelling, the animation was gorgeous, and I also loved the music. It's long been on my list of series to complete when I have the financial means to do so.
Robonimal Panda-Z: The Robonimation (TV) So-so I saw an episode of this at Nan Desu Kan a few years ago, and can't recall anything about it other than thinking it was quite odd. It didn't impress me much, but I remembered the title, so I guess that's something. If you saw this and enjoyed it, fabulous.
Rumbling Hearts (TV) Good My sister told me this series made her cry, so of course I went out and bought it. I saw the first episode and thought that it was visually beautiful. I haven't seen all of it just yet, but I guess we're a little masochistic in my family and will watch depressing things because we like them. Will be working through this one.
Rurouni Kenshin (TV 1996) Good I've only seen the sporadic episode here and there, but have enjoyed it well enough. I liked the characters almost immediately, and while the plot was so far along that I didn't have much hope of following it, it did seem like an interesting concept. Perhaps I'll pick up the box sets eventually.
Sailor Moon (TV) Good My gateway drug into the world of anime. My sister and I followed this religiously for its long run on television, bought the old VHS tapes, and even recorded it off the television for when we couldn't catch it. Of course we were miffed when we found out it had been heavily edited from its original form, but I think we'd be lying if we said we didn't have a soft spot for it. There are series I enjoy much more now, but I still appreciate this for what it is.
Sailor Moon R (TV) Good My gateway drug into the world of anime.
Samurai 7 (TV) Good I saw a little bit of this thanks to a friend, and enjoyed what I was able to see. I only learned later that it was based on a live-action movie, and after having a chance to view most of that movie, I prefer it better than the anime version. The anime version is still entertaining enough, but I'm not in a rush to see more of it at this time.
Samurai Champloo (TV) Good This series is a lot of fun, and I wish I had been able to catch it during its Adult Swim run. The times were funny on my satellite, and I was never able to catch it. I saw a little bit on DVD, and enjoyed it very much. I would be thrilled to pick this up and finish it.
Samurai Deeper Kyo (TV) Decent The pacing seemed to move a bit fast with this series, but the characters were strong and there was lots of room for growth. There was an underlying sense of foreboding that I wanted to see reveal itself. I wouldn't object to seeing more of this, but I'm not in a hurry, either.
School Rumble: 2nd Semester (TV) Good
Serial Experiments Lain (TV) Very good This is something I had been hearing about for a while before I finally picked it up. I think I'm about halfway through it. The art style is very simple, but the characters and plot are incredibly complex. While some of the special effects are showing their age, it doesn't impede on the show as a whole. Curious to see where it will lead.
Shin chan (TV) Good This show makes me laugh more than it probably should. The mother is one of my favorite characters, and I feel bad for her for having such little brats as children. The art style is not very attractive, but it adds to this show's charm. It's very silly, and probably low-brow, but I like it.
Shuffle! (TV) Weak I saw the first episode of this, and was irritated by the characters and the plot seemed as though it would get very predictable, very fast. I know a few people have enjoy this show, and that's fabulous if you did. It just isn't for me. I will say that the animation was nice.
Speed Grapher (TV) Good This series started off very well, but when I last left it, it had devolved into a "monster of the week" sort of thing, without really exploring fully why each character was that way. I do really want to see the rest of this, because despite the slight annoyance, the characters are very compelling and the plot takes twists.
(The) Story of Saiunkoku (TV) Very good I have the first half of the first season now, and I really enjoyed what I have viewed of this so far. The main character is very strong, independent, and capable. This is very refreshing to see. It's also quite beautiful in style. Very happy to have this in my collection, and will get the rest when I can.
Strawberry Eggs (TV) So-so The plot of this didn't really do anything for me, and the characters were quite generic. I spent most of the time talking to the television about the easy alternatives to the main character's problems. The English voice acting was pretty good, however. Not particularly interested in seeing more of it.
Super GALS! (TV) Weak I saw an episode of this on a freebie disc that came with a magazine. Perhaps its because I didn't follow it all the way through, but this series did nothing to impress me. The characters irritated me, and the plot was quite flippant. If you are a fan of this show, more power to you.
(The) Super Milk-chan Show (TV) Weak I saw a few episodes of this when it was on late night Adult Swim, and all I remember is that it was making my head hurt. I couldn't turn off the television fast enough. There didn't seem to be any point to it beyond just being weird. I need a little more plot with my anime.
Tenchi in Tokyo (TV) Decent A friend sent me a few of these episodes to watch, along with the Tenchi Muyo OAV. I saw it after watching what I had of the OAV, and didn't enjoy it quite as much, but the characters were exactly the same and the zaniness was still there. I did want to see where it was headed, and I'm not sure if I'll be able to.
Texhnolyze (TV) Good I saw a little bit of this, and wow. The story begins in a way I had never encountered before, and I honestly didn't get far enough to figure out just where this story was going. The music was probably the strongest bit about this, and the surreal nature of the show is the second.
