Hentaichan's Anime

Seen all Rating Comment
5 Centimeters Per Second (movie) Very good Very good. Artwork is amazing, but the story is very heartbreaking.
Aa Megami-sama: Tatakau Tsubasa (special) Very good
Ah! My Goddess (TV) Good Hmm, what can I say about this series? Well, if it's your thing and you're a fan of the manga, then definitely watch this. If you're not, then don't/ Personally, I am, so I do. :P
Ah! My Goddess: Flights of Fancy (TV) Very good More of the "same old, same old" adventures of Keiichi, Belldandy, and everyone else. This series actually takes a lot more out from the manga (more so than the first series). Again, not for the masses. If you liked the first series, or are an old-school fan of the manga, this is a must.
Air (TV) Very good This series is a lot like Kanon (well duh, the art is even the same. I know.) On a whim, I watched it, thinking it was a mecha anime. Of course, it's not. It couldn't be further from the truth. It's yer typical "tear-jerker" anime, where one guy has to solve a harem of women's problems. I'll say this: the telling was well enough and the characters are well done, but damn that ending (I cried. I'll admit it.). If you liked Kanon or want a good cry, watch it. Note to self: read the synopsis before watching a series...
Air (movie) Good An alternate telling of the series. Same deal; good characters, decent telling, but depressing.
Air In Summer (special) Very good This mini series expands on the two episodes in the series Air when they had a flashback. Entertaining, but if you haven't seen the series, you'll be lost.
Akiba Girls (OAV) So-so I wish otaku girls were like this. Typical hentai. Main character does every girl without even asking. No story to speak of, just "boy meets girl...then does her." Crappy. It's a hentai, so 18+, kids.
Akira (movie) So-so It's a classic! So I guess that gives it a couple of merrits... Petty warped story, and a somewhat odd conclusion. Eh, it was alright, I guess...
Allison & Lillia (TV) Masterpiece Amazing story with delightful characters, and a realistic world. The animation is really well done, and is most kept in a traditional style (there are a few CG images). I would strongly recommend anyone watch this. It's a great anime. The ending leaves you wishing for more, but the series as a whole makes up for it.
Amazing Nurse Nanako (TV) Good really funny, and really perverted. Poor Nanako gets thrown into the worst situations. I've never read the manga, so I was confused as to who were all the characters popping up one episode after another, but I still found it hilarious.
Amon Saga (OAV) Bad Watching this anime will leave you thinking "What the F?!" The story is thrust upon you, and doesn't answer any questions. Not to mention the characters are flat. ***Spoiler*** Finally, what the F is D doing in here?! during his off season, he trains heros?! D rocks.
Azumanga Daioh (TV) Excellent lovable characters and funny jokes. Everyone should watch it.
Azumanga Daioh - The Very Short Movie Very good It's really short. Shorter than an episode. Still, it was really funny! And Yukari looked really good...!
Azumanga Web Daioh (ONA) Good I had no idea this existed, and after seeing it, I'm glad I found it. It's short (no longer than 15 minutes) and it's funny. Fans should check it out on You Tube.
Bamboo Blade (TV) Very good Ah, nothing like a sports anime to make you want to go out and get fit. Bamboo blade will have you laughing and cheering through and through. Characters are typical, but they each have a delightful twist to them (example, Tamaki is a "quiet girl," but she has more personality than Yuki from MoH or Rei from Eva. To be honest, she's more like a serious version of Osaka from AzuManga). The story flows well and is well told. The extra characters tend to have some depth to them, making everything feel real. I would suggest everyone watch this, even if you're not into sports anime. You'll laugh, you'll cry, and you'll want to take up a Shinai and start training!
Beat Angel Escalayer (OAV) So-so Kinky. Has a DG in it, so be warned. Oh, yeah: It's a hentai. 18 and up, kids. (unless you're like I was :P) It was pretty dumb, but it was... entertaining enough.
Bleach: The Sealed Sword Frenzy (OAV) Good Much like other anime movies based off of anime series, this one really doesn't fit into the series in any way. It was funny and entertaining, but doesn't really have a point. Also, though the fight sequences were nice, they were also short. Blink, and you would wind up missing it. Then again, what else can you expect from a 30 minute teaser.
Blood: The Last Vampire (movie) Good This was one of the border anime, one of the first few anime to use computer renderings with traditional anime before computers became the "fix-all" that they are today. If I remember correctly, it was for a scene near the beginning which lasted all of 10 seconds... Heh, I don't really remember, but it was a nice movie with a good leading role; a female role who was bad-ass but had no sex appeal. Hats off for achieving that. Still, the story was weak, and the movie will leave you asking for more.
Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro-chan (TV) Decent If Higurashi is the perfect blend of cutesy girls and violence, then this is the Picasso of gore anime. I didn't think it was possible, but they have combined sickening levels of blood and guts with intolerable levels of cuteness and enough innuendos to kill a puma. Here's the kicker: my friend who abstains from anime suddenly started watching it, and the more I cringed, the harder she laughed. I guess it's for a select audience, it's a shame I'm not part of it. Still, I have to give credit where it's due: I did find some of the jokes hilarious.
Boku wa Imōto ni Koi o Suru: Secret Sweethearts - Kono Koi wa Himitsu (OAV) Weak All I can say is: Never let a girl chose the anime to watch... I sat through the whole thing, though. Even she didn't like it a whole lot. Anyway, I felt like the animation was okay, the story reminded me of School Days with instead involving two girls and both not caring about the guy messing around, and the characters being very two-dimensional.
Castle in the Sky (movie) Masterpiece Another Masterpiece by Hayao Miyazaki. Definitely a must see.
Chocotto Sister (TV) Very good So, as far as notable anime, this one isn't. It's entertaining, yes, but the things is loaded with fan service - some of which is questionable of its legality in the US... Still, as for story, the characters are quite tangible, and despite a supernatural start, the world is very realistic. The story is great, but doesn't conclude anything, and is essentially at a stand still. Still it was enough to make me double over with laughter at times, and cause tears to weld up in my eyes at other. People who believe in love and family/friendship bonds should give this a look-see. Also, if you have a loli- or a siscon, I'm sure you've seen it already...
Clannad (TV) Excellent
Clannad After Story (TV) Masterpiece
Cowboy Bebop (TV) Masterpiece Great story, Great characters, Great anime.
Cowboy Bebop: The Movie Masterpiece Absolutely wonderful continuation of the series.
Crimson Climax (OAV) Good Very dark. Very gory. This'll have you really crept out. It's also a hentai, so 18+, kids.
Dark Love (OAV) Decent The girls in it are hot. Good for that. But they're also so freakin' horny for one guy. That, and this hentai goes from kinky to just plain weird. Ep. 1 is tolerable, but disturbing. Ep. 2 will leave you saying "WTF?!" It's a hentai, so 18+, kids.
Death Note (TV) Excellent Intense! Really well done! Although the last few episodes lose their edge. I'd suggest watching it until two more brilliant kids show up near the end.
Disgaea (TV) Good Fans of the games will ~love~ this series. It's pretty funny, but you won't be rolling with laughter. Still, I'd suggest you check it out, if you have the time and can find a copy of the series.
Dragon Ball (TV) Decent Compared to the (in)famous sister series, DB is less action and more adventure. It is actually based off of Asian folklore for the most part (example, Goku's name). It's more for a younger audience, but if you're really into DBZ/GT, check it out. also, is you'd like a light-hearted anime scene to watch, check it out as well.
Dragon Ball GT: A Hero's Legacy (special) Decent The last piece of the massive puzzle that s the Dragon Ball series. This is a nice story, and has no elements of "powering up" "supah-saiha-jin!" "Biggu-Bang-Attack!" "Ka-Me-Ha-Me-Ha!" and all those other quirks that made DB/DBZ/DBGT famous (and infamous). It was a nice mini-adventure, and both brings closer to the entire story and drives the final nail into the DB series' coffin. Finally, the universe is at peace.
Dragon Ball Movie 1: Curse of the Blood Rubies So-so Boo.
Dragon Ball Z (TV) Decent A long time ago, this was the only fighting anime we had to watch. Back in the day, I thought very fondly of the series, and watched it religiously, then have my Japanese friend translate it the next morning. However, looking back on it, the story is very coincidental, the fighting sucked for the most part, and the series really drags along. But I have a childish connection with it, so I still have a place for it. Either case, you'll enjoy it if you haven't seen much fighting anime. As for us old-timers...I still have 4 sparkle cards and a glitter to trade.
Dragon Ball Z: The History of Trunks (special) Excellent Compared to the series (which I was a fan of back on grade school), this movie is really intense. Seeing it today, I still think it's 100 times better than the series.
Dragon Ball Z: The Return of Cooler (movie 6) Very good Man, when I was a kid, this movie was absolutely rockin'. Decent fighting, especially considering the series it came from, and entertaining. I've seen it recently, and although it doesn't have the same affect on me like it did when I was a kid, it was still enchanting.
Dragon Half (OAV) Excellent Wow. It took me so long to finally see this series, and I was impressed with it still. It is a classic, and should be on everyone's anime initiation protocol.
Excel Saga (TV) Very good Very volatile. As the warning label of the DVD states: Watching too much Excel Saga is dangerous to your sanity. Because it is an parody anime, some of the jokes might not hit their mark with an okatu-noob. Also, the explosive insanity may turn off many viewers. Still, recommended to everyone to watch at least the first few episodes. It might tickle your funny bone. Moderate anime viewers recommended.
Fate/stay night (TV) Good I'm not really big on fighting anime, but this one was pretty good. The fight scenes were especially tasty, but I wasn't a fan of the "almost a harem" aspect of the anime. The flashbacks were also awkward, which if you watch it, you'll understand. Too reliant on coincidental elements, and some events didn't quite fit. It was a fair enough anime, however, and it you like a good fighter anime with a little magic, check it out.
Final Approach (TV) Weak The main character is a bastard who deserves to die alone, and the main girl is overly forgiving. Somebody slap that chick. But it was short...
Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children (movie) Masterpiece Anyone a fan of the game ~must~ watch this.
FLCL (OAV) Excellent Funny jokes, great story, and interesting ideas, but if you're not used to high paced anime or really complex plots, it may be over your head. Expert anime viewers recommended.
Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu (TV) Very good
Futakoi Alternative (TV) Weak I began watching this series after reading the synopsis on ANN and seeing some snaps of the opening. The series is a love story about a guy, twins, and the external forces that try to divide them up. It's slow paced and lovely, with a lot of relationship-charged stuff. Would be fine if you're into that sort of thing. I was NOT wanting to watch that, however. The entire opening has cute twins wielding big guns and taking out military personnel. Episode one follows that action, with bombs, guns, and helicopters crashing, but then someone took that story idea out back and shot it to bring in this li'l love story. Also, perhaps it's because I haven't read the manga, but the story is too open ended, with the introducing of scores of minor characters, especially the other twins who have one episode and then are dismissed, and the random events that don't really make sense and end too abruptly. It's like walking into an exclusive club, but everyone has a secret language that you don't know: it's all gibber. I started watching the series expecting something like "Charlie's Angels," but I got instead a trivial, boring story.
Galaxy Angel (TV) Good Ever since seein' a small clip of this on AMV Hell 4, I was curious as to what exactly the series was all about. As luck would have it, I managed to secure a copy and got to watch the entire series. The stories are weak but light hearted, and the characters, although typical, are a nice comical blend. A nice thing about the series is that it never takes itself too seriously. The biggest/saddest problem is that each episode is only a quarter hour.
Galaxy Angel A (TV) Good A nice continuation of the series. Episodes had me doubled over with laughter. However, the conclusion to some seemed too open ended or vague, as if the writers didn't know how to end it. Still, it was nice to follow the Angel team through their new set of adventures.
Galaxy Angel S (special) Good A fun extra to have seen after the end of the second season, which ended on a somewhat serious note.
Galaxy Angel X (TV) Good Same old antics from the first two series, but with new characters added (although they made very few appearances it almost seems ridiculous they were added). If you haven't stopped watchin' the series by this point, then sit back and enjoy a host of new problems solved in the same ol' Galaxy Angel way.
Galaxy Angel Z (TV) Good An enjoyable series, with an all-too real ending. Anyone who's watched up to this point will thoroughly enjoy it until the very very end. After seeing it, I was begging for more.
Ghost in the Shell (movie) Excellent It's a classic! Ya gotta love the classics!
GTO: Great Teacher Onizuka (TV) Excellent Amazing story and a really good cast of characters. Semi-weak ending.
Haré+Guu (TV) Very good Watch up to the 5th dvd. The 6th doesn't really have much, and talk about a bomb of an ending...
Hayate the Combat Butler (TV) Excellent
Hayate the Combat Butler!! (TV) Good
High School of the Dead (TV) So-so
Hyakko (TV) Good This is quite the comical show with a ~very~ slow pace. many of the jokes are hilarious, and the fluency of the characters make it feel all the more real. However, there are quite a few parts where nothing seems to be goin' on and some jokes just miss their mark. If it's on, take the time to watch it. There just might be something that makes you laugh.
Itsudatte My Santa! (OAV) Weak It had funny moments, but it was a rushed story, and left me saying "What the fuck?!" Kinda cute, but it's an odd idea for Santa. I don't know who would enjoy this anime, because I didn't.
Jubei-Chan The Ninja Girl - Secret of the Lovely Eyepatch (TV) Good This is the first DVD set I completed! This anime is a bit fast paced, but is entertaining, never-the-less. Having said that, all the characters are awesome EXCEPT the main character! Seriously, every character is cool, except the one the story is about! It's amazing that they pulled off a story like that. Still, i would recommend it. You have got to see the side characters in that! They rock. Moderate anime viewers recommended.
Kannagi: Crazy Shrine Maidens (TV) Very good Hilarious antics and delightful characters. This series also pulls one of the most clever episodes I've seen in anime in a while (a whole episode with the main character in a closet). Those who aren't familiar with the Shinto may be a little offset about certain means and references, but this is a show anyone can enjoy.
Kanon (TV 2/2006) Very good Really good, but depressing.
Karin (TV) Good A typical high school romantic comedy with a vampire twist. The characters are lovable but forgettable, the artwork is simple but cheerful, the humor is often light but happy, and the ending is a-typical of anime. Still, you'll be left sobbing and cheering as the final episodes run down. A must see for you lovey-dovey-funny fans.
KenIchi the Mightiest Disciple (TV) Excellent Wow. Just wow. I'm not really big on fighting anime, but this one I couldn't stop watching. Colorful characters, well choreographed fighting, decent story, and enough humor to keep it light hearted. Also, because it is 50 episodes long, they did a great job building up Kenichi's character, as well as coming to a conclusion. The saddest thing was knowing it had to end. If you like a good fighting anime, or are in the mood for a "feel good," "love-and-peace," comedy anime, definitely check it out. Everyone else, check it anyways!
Kiki's Delivery Service (movie) Excellent A cute story from the creator of Princess Mononoke. Entertaining and with brilliant artwork. Definitely worth checking out.
Kimi ga Aruji de Shitsuji ga Ore de (TV) Good Hmm, if Hayate was more of a man and had an older sister with really big tits...Sorry. This series has moments of hilariousness, and the characters are interesting enough to keep me wanting to watch more. The story is a little on the weak side, including most of the character's backgrounds. Ahh, who am I kidding? I watched it for the ecchi shock effect. This series is good for a laugh, but I don't think it's for kids...
Kino's Journey (TV) Masterpiece Recommended to anyone who's breathing. If you're the least bit human, you have to see this. 12/7/07 Update: I got my boss to watch this anime. He and his wife both love it. Thing is: he's 62 years old!! EVERYONE NEEDS TO WATCH THIS ANIME!!!
Last Exile (TV) Masterpiece Wonderful, creative world and very good story, but it does seem to plunge you in without a safety line. Also, the ending is too abrupt.
Last Order Final Fantasy VII (OAV) Good This was fun! It's nice to see the beloved characters from the video game animated. It's the prequel to the game that you wouldn't understand unless you've played the game. So play the game.
Lensman (movie) Not really good Didn't know there was a series of this. I've only seen the movie, so I was a little lost. Still, it had it's moments. Couple of the characters were pretty cool.
Love Hina (TV) So-so Funny and entertaining, with a love story in the mix, but they overuse some of the jokes, and they take too long for the relationship to advance. In fact, the whole series is like "two steps foward, 3 steps back" until it was rushed at the end. What would've taken 4 episodes lasted 26...
Love Hina Again (OAV) Decent Much better than Love Hina. thankfully, they only have 3 episodes to wrap it up, so there's no time wasted. I enjoyed this series much more than the original.
Love Hina Final (special) Decent Eh, whatever. Wish I watched this instead of the series. Would've saved me some time.
Love Hina Spring Special - I Wish Your Dream Decent This one was just strange. It was funny at times, but just plain strange. Still, if you're a fan of the series, check it out. At least the resolve is more timely than the series.
Love Hina X'mas Special - Silent Eve Good Really nice, and was pretty funny at some parts. Compared to the series, it was a lot better, but you'll have to watch most of the series to know the characters.
Lucky Star (TV) Excellent Serious anime fans, this is a must. Definitely worth seeing to get a kick out of. A bit slow paced, which is fine if you want a laugh and don't want to keep backtracking. Still, expert anime viewers recommended.
Lucky Star OVA Excellent
Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro (movie) Very good I was really young when I first saw it, and it really showed me that anime is not kid's stuff (usually). The series is random and a bit ridiculous, but the movie based off of the series was VERY good, especially considering the level of technology at the time. You don't have to be a fan to enjoy this movie.
Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi (TV) Very good A short, funny series with hilarious occurances and a very deep and serious understory. Moments are very funny. Some are very serious. All in all, a great parody anime. Moderate anime viewers recommended.
(The) Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (TV) Masterpiece Very realistic. Great characters, great story
Mezzo Forte (OAV) Bad Ugh...Why did I watch all of this? Pointless sex scenes, horrible characters, and a terrible story. Thankfully, it's only 2 ep long.
Midori Days (TV) Decent It was very odd and very random. This has got to be one of the most unique stories I've ever seen. However, some of the characters, especially the main character, are too typical of a high school anime. If you have some time, watch it. something there is sure to make you laugh.
Minami-ke (TV) Very good This kind of reminded me of AzuManga Dioh. The characters are real, there's no super powers of the sort, and nothing horrible happens. It's as if the writers did it for fun, never taking the thing too seriously. All throughout, I was laughing - from quiet chuckles, to gut busting roars. Slow paced, easy going anime that takes everything lightly. Definitely recommended, but a lot of jokes are based in Japanese culture. Moderate viewers recommended.
Minami-ke: Okaeri (TV) Very good
Minami-ke: Okawari (TV) Very good This is the second season of the series, Minami-ke, which I highly recommend gets watch first before watching this. This one was also pretty funny, but some of the gags are used to death, and it took me a moment to adjust to the new animation style and character design. Also, there was an uneasiness throughout the entire series, like some hidden, underlying seriousness that would shatter the fragile world the Minami sisters live in. Still, it's a good series, and after I adjusted, the quality is still there. Again, the jokes are culturally based in Japan, so moderate viewers recommended.
Mobile Suit Gundam (TV) Good
Mobile Suit Gundam Seed (TV) Excellent Very intense Gundam series. Really charged anime. Even those who are not Gundam fans should give it a chance.
Mobile Suit Gundam Wing (TV) Excellent A decent addition to the Gundam series. Pretty entertaining and flashy, fair characters, but the Gundams are overpowered. I have a problem with one shot taking out 50 Zakus...
Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz (OAV) Excellent
Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz Special Edition (movie) Excellent It's suppose to occur after the Gundam Wing series, but some of the facts just don't match right. Still, it's entertaining, and a must for Gundam fans.
Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team (OAV) Excellent A really good addition to the Gundam series. Fans definitely must check this one out! Anyone who wants to get into the Gundam series should watch it, too! Great characters, Realistic fights (as ralistic as they can get, anyway) and a decent story.
Mushi-Shi (TV) Masterpiece Fantastic world with breath-taking artwork, deep characters, and masterful storytelling. This anime is a definite must. If you breathe and are in anyway human, you must watch this.
My Bride is a Mermaid (TV) Excellent Absolutely hilarious! From episode 1 till episode 26, each one is loaded with gags and jokes galore. Perhaps too many. There really isn't much in the way of plot, but the characters are lovable. Also, some of the jokes are forced. Still, definitely worth it to watch if you wanna have yer sides hurtin' from laughter. A bit high-paced: Moderate anime viewers recommended.
Nadia - The Secret of Blue Water (TV) Good I've always been curious of this series, and on a whim, I bought the first box set. The story is really good, and the artwork is great considering the level of animation technology available at the time. The characters are great for the most part, but the main characters have a bad habit of being horribly annoying. Also, the story tends to drag in the second half. It had a surprisingly decent ending, which is rare for animes. If you're still young, or young of heart, and have a weekend to kill, give it a gander.
Nadia - The Secret of Blue Water: The Motion Picture So-so Crappy compared to the series, but it gave the sensation of an adventure. If you have some free time, I suppose you can watch it.
Nagasarete Airantou (TV) Decent Harem anime. And this one is loaded with fan service. the main male character is an idiot and weakling, and the main female character is a complete air-head. Also, the nose-bleed gag is done to death in this series (as if it wasn't dead before the series came out). Still, there were a few episodes that used the right jokes in it that had me rolling with laughter.
Naruto (TV) Very good I am one of the few that has seen all the episodes of this series. I got into this series around the time episode 72 aired in Japan...and I got out of it around episode 150 or so. Still, like a loyal dog, I kept coming back over and over to complete the series. The series started so good, but after ep. 150 or so, the series takes a turn for the worst. As entertaining as it was, I wouldn't advise people getting into it this late in the game.
Naruto Special: Battle at Hidden Falls. I Am the Hero! (OAV) Good It's the same childish fun you remember from the series, except extended into a movie form. It was nice; gave me a happy feeling.
Naruto the Movie: Legend of the Stone of Gelel (movie 2) Very good Entertaining movie starring the characters of Naruto. If you're a fan, give it a gander. If you're not, don't bother.
Naruto the Movie: Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow Excellent Of all the Naruto movies, this one was the best, in my opinion. It brought back a reminiscent feeling of adventure I haven't felt since I was a kid. Fans (and ex-fans) really should check it out. Also, anime fans should give it a gander even if you hate the series.
Naruto: Konoha Sports Festival (movie) Not really good Boo.
Natsume's Book of Friends (TV) Masterpiece
Natsume's Book of Friends (TV 2) Masterpiece
Negima! (TV) Excellent Harem anime, but it was really funny and entertaining. The series as a whole was great, but the end episode was so riddled with fan service it really destroyed it at the end. Still, definitely worth seeing.
Negima!? Spring OVA Decent Fan service, anyone? Eh, it's kinda fun to see all the characters again, although most of the characters act notably different in this short than in the series. Still, I have this thing about fan service: I hate it. Also, the ending reminded me of the final episode of "Pani Poni Dash"...
Neon Genesis Evangelion (TV) Very good Big robots, weird aliens, and 3D characters (although some are predictable). It's a classic! and one of the first animes to cause some controversy.
Neon Genesis Evangelion: Death & Rebirth (movie) Weak What the crap is this? Death is the series in a 60 minute movie format, and Rebirth is the first...30 minutes of End of Evangelion! What a waste of time...
Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of Evangelion (movie) Excellent Intense. I actually saw this movie before seeing the series. It really pushed the envelope of what was acceptable back in the day. If you saw the series and hated the ending, or if you want to see an alternate ending, watch this. Personally, I thought both were good.
Ninja Nonsense (TV) Very good For being as ridiculous as it was, I found it to be exceedingly hilarious. Especially since all the ninjas are perverted. Even Shinobu is a pervert!!
Ninja Scroll (movie) Weak Explain to me why do people like this movie? And why the crap am I being force to sit through this "rancid butter."
Nodame Cantabile (TV) Excellent This series is knock-out good. If you have a passion for music, tired of a-typical characters, or are pining for a new plot, this is a must see. Anime fanatics and noobs alike would dig this. Definitely worth checking out.
Oh My Goddess! (OAV) Good This is the first series I completed! Which should be impressive since I was in 7th grade when I did it! Okay, enough about me: the series is short, and the story is rushed, but it was the first time Belldandy, Urd, Skuld, and Keiichi left the manga novels and became the popular anime everyone knows and love. Also, it was the roll Kikuko Inoue is most famous for. Seriously, I can go on for days about this series, but let's leave it at that.
Ōkami-san & Her Seven Companions (TV) Very good
Origin ~Spirits of the Past~ (movie) Very good An interesting movie with fantastic artwork. Sadly, it's yer a-typical anime style story with a-typical protagonists and an a-typical conclusion. Nothing too memorable, but if you do happen to watch it, I'm sure you'll be entertained.
Ouran High School Host Club (TV) Very good Watch episode one. If you like it, watch the entire series. If you don't, move on. Me personally, I liked it. A lot.
Pani Poni Dash! (TV) Excellent Absolutely hilarious, but some of the jokes were beyond even me. Much of the humor feels forced, and even with everything I've seen, I usually get about 75% of the jokes. Expert anime viewers recommended.
Paranoia Agent (TV) Masterpiece Very warped and twisted. Left me guessing until the end.
Perfect Blue (movie) Good Nice psychological thriller, and one of the first anime movies I've seen. It's really well done, especially considering when it was made. All in all, worth a gander if you have the time. There are some adult scenes, so be mindful of that.
Pet Shop of Horrors (TV) Very good Apart from the detective and the pet shop owner, the characters are flat, but the stories were really creative. Shame the series is only 4 episodes long.
Please Twins! (TV) Good I haven't seen Please, Sensei! when I started watching this, and thankfully I didn't have to. The series was entertaining, although there were to many coincidences. It's an interesting love story. Check it out if you have time.
Potemayo (TV) Very good Totally cute and heart warming, and is also side-splitting funny! That is, if you're into it. I personally like the second one; mini-Death is so cute! Highly recommended that you watch ep. 1 and 2 (each episode is 15 minutes). If you survive through that, watch the rest. If you gouge out your eyes in fear and disgust, then sadly, it's not the one for you.
Princess Mononoke (movie) Excellent It's a classic! If you're an anime greenhorn, or if you're bored with spazetic animes, definitely check this out. Amazing artwork, detailed characters, and a creative world. Created by a certain person you should be familiar with...
Pumpkin Scissors (TV) Excellent Curiosity led me to this one. It is full of your run-of-the-mill characters, big minus, but the story and setting is what gives it a saving grace. However, the ending doesn't bring much resolve. Just leaves you askng "What happens now?!" Still worth watching.
Puni Puni Poemy (OAV) Not really good It made me laugh. Not out loud, and not snicker, but a regular laugh. It made me gasp more than laugh. Watching this makes you ask "what was he thinking?!" But if you watched the Excel Saga DVDs, you'd know there wasn't any thought behind this anime. Regardless, if you can handle randomness at the extreme, or would like to see a cracked out version of Excel Saga (because Excel Saga was so normal) watch it. I did, and my brain is mostly intact. Master anime viewers recommended. (yeah, this is way beyond expert anime viewers).
R.O.D -The TV- Very good This is a really good series. Again with your run-of-the-mill characters, but the story is interesting enough. I didn't read the manga "Read or Dream" or see the movie "Read or Die," but it was still quite entertaining, and I wasn't too lost. I'd definitely say watch this.
Ramen Fighter Miki (TV) Very good This series is hilarious! Absolutely funny, and keeps getting funnier with each episode. though some people might find some of the jokes repetitive, there is plenty of material in this short series that'll surely make you laugh! Definitely a must see if you wanna laugh.
Record of Lodoss War (OAV) Good It's a classic! This was the biggest fantasy anime back in the day (which was rumored to have come about after a game of table-top RPG). Some of the characters were awesome, some were annoying. Also, it introduced the idea of the "he's a dead extra" theorem (when you watch anime, you can tell when an extra is about to die by the quality of his/her animation). It was a good story, but the ending was too abrupt. It literally just ended. Still, check it out. There's something you're bound to like from it.
Renkin 3-kyū Magical? Pokān (TV) Very good I saw a gif animation with Liru, the wolf girl in it, and thought to myself "well, that's hella random... I wonder what it's from?" So I started a little digging, and found this series. It's very much off the wall, but it pretty hilarious. After taking one look at the characters (and the opening), it's clear to see this anime is the essence of fan service. Surprisingly, however, it's really funny, and with elements of a parody anime, even the fan service is funny. It'll at least make you giggle. Check it out!
Royal Space Force - The Wings of Honnêamise (movie) Bad Too long, too much talk, and too many unnecessary events. Really, what was with the attempted rape scene? Be thankful I watched it, so now I can warn you not to see it.
Ruin Explorers - Fam & Ihrie (OAV) So-so Entertaining, but nothing unique about it. Repeat characters with different names and different hair styles. But it was short...
Rurouni Kenshin: Reflection (OAV) Masterpiece Very good conclusion. Made my chest feel heavy.
Rurouni Kenshin: The Motion Picture Decent Compared to the OVAs, this movie doesn't hold a candle to it, but if you're a fan of the series, you should watch it. Truth be told, it felt like I was watching a video game. Not really a good movie, but it would make a great extended episode.
Rurouni Kenshin: Trust & Betrayal (OAV) Masterpiece People who aren't even fans of the series will love this.
Sailor and the 7 Ballz (U.S. OAV Parody) Worst ever Some things should not have been created. This is one of them. Another would be my friends who locked me in a room, restrained me to a chair, and forced this toilet bowl of hate on me. Do not ever watch this. Fuck calling it a hentai. Do not watch this unless you're 91-92 years old and want to die...and are blind...and deaf...and numb...and dumb...
Sailor Moon R: The Movie Weak For you fans out there, I guess you'd like it. Personally, I thought they took an hour to tell a 30 minute story. And the fact that I'm not a Sailor Moon fan didn't help their cause with me.
Samurai Champloo (TV) Excellent An interesting spin on an old idea. The characters are pretty predicable, as expected in animes, but the pop-twist brings new life to the old idea, and it is masterfully executed. Definitely check it out.
Sayonara Zetsubou-sensei (TV) Very good I haven't really mentioned this before, but I'm studying to be a teacher. About a month ago, I found this series, and I now know what kind of teacher I wish to be. People, if you ever think your life is going terribly bad, watch this anime. You'll realized that all the worries of your life are created by you, and you'll be a much better person after watching it... If anything else, you'll get a good laugh out of it. The story telling is slightly random, and there are some parody elements, so you'll have to do your best to keep up. Moderate Anime Viewers recommended.
School Days (TV) Decent I never saw the original version. I just happened upon a clip on "YouTube," and it really grabbed my attention. However, it was nothing what I was expecting. It's a well told story, but it's your typical "love triangle" drama. If you're into that, definitely give it a look-see. I, personally, am not, but I have to give it credit for being well told.
Skip Beat! (TV) Very good
Slayers - The Motion Picture Very good I saw a little bit of the anime series, and it didn't agree with me. I somehow wound up watching this movie on Sci Fi, and I couldn't believe that this was from the same series. It was really well done. Fans and non-fans alike: check it out.
Sorcerer Hunters (TV) Good This series, my sister got me into, and was one of the first series I completed. It's old school fantasy, but there's still enough in it to give the new okatus a good laugh. The story is pretty weak, and the anime suffers from a horribly rushed ending (as most animes are). Still, I'm sure you can watch this series and find a favorite episode.
Sorcerer Hunters (OAV) Very good It's like they turned the manga into a cartoon!
Spice and Wolf (TV) Good
Spring and Chaos (movie) Masterpiece A wonderful story based on the life of a man way ahead of his times.
Squid Girl (TV) Excellent
Sumomomo Momomo - Chijō Saikyō no Yome (TV) Not really good This series starts out funny, but takes a nasty nose dive. Some jokes are used too much, the characters are too narrow-sighted, and events are too coincidental. To add to the woes, extra characters are added to the mix just to prolong the series one more episode. Finally, the ending was a-typical of fighting anime, or anime that try for a dramatic finish but still want to end on a light note (aka, "Sailor Moon Syndrome." If you saw the ending, you'll know what I mean). It's a shame - this series would have made a hilarious comedy had they not started screwing up half way through.
Swan Lake (movie) Decent I was really young when i watched this, so I don't really remember the beginning too well. I do remember thinking the voice over was well done (yeah, I was like 8 when I saw it, but I don't remember the voices making me hate life). Also, the ending is explosive, emotionally. Very intense. If American animators made Swan Lake like this, it would have been the best cartoon created.
Tenchi in Tokyo (TV) Decent
Tenchi Muyo! (OAV 1/1992) Good It's a classic! And is one of the original harem animes. I don't know if that was a good thing or a bad thing... Anyway, it made me laugh enough.
Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki (OAV 2/1994) Very good I don't know why it's divided like this, but it's the second part of the OAVs. Worth checking out.
Tenchi Muyo! The Night Before The Carnival (OAV) Good Again, I don't know why the series is divided like this, but I found this episode funny.
Tenchi the Movie - Tenchi Muyo in Love Decent I'm always amazed how they take a light-hearted series like Tenchi Muyo and make such an intense anime like this, while still keeping the characters the same. Fans of the series must check it out. Everyone else, give it a gander. If you're lost, watch the series.
Tenchi The Movie 2 - The Daughter of Darkness Decent Again, the creators are able to take the light-hearted anime and make a very well done movie. Fans and newcomers alike should find something to enjoy in this movie.
Tenjho Tenge (TV) Not really good The intro was catchy. The first seven episodes are awesome. After that, this series stunk. The series became an over-extended flashback filled with unnecessary (and inappropriate) fan service. My friend says the manga is better. I don't review mangas, so it's up to you to discover it yerself. As for the anime, watch the intro until you get sick of it, then watch something else.
Toradora! (TV) Excellent
Transformers (U.S. TV) Good Old school, baby. I have a friend who found and bought the whole boxset. In yo face, old-school fans! (Yeah, I know I'm gloating because my friend has it, but that's a lot better than what the lot of you can say!)
Trigun (TV) Good I think this was the second DVD set I completely collected. I took forever because I was missing disc five for the longest... Eh, enough about me. The series is entertaining enough. It starts off quite comical, but it turns very serious as it approaches the end.
Trinity Blood (TV) Weak First of all, as an ex-Catholic, I found it to be somewhat mocking of the church. Not that I give a damn, but seriously... Second, the story wasn't up to par. Third, the characters were deplorable. I felt no connection to any of them, and especially that stupid robot dude. Finally, what the F is up with the hologram chick?!
Vampire Hunter D (OAV) So-so It's a classic! Still, everyone in the anime sucks. The ONLY saving grace is D. Oh, and his parasite, though he was more serious than in Bloodlust. Watch it - Watch it for D!!
Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust (movie) Good This is such a good movie. I bet you can guess why... That's right! Because of D! D f'n rocks!!! Oh, and the movie itself ain't half bad, either.
Vandread (TV) Good Robots, juggernauts, galactic armadas, and fan service out the ying-yang. As far as story telling goes, the underlying story is an interesting one, but the anime itself is weak. Still, if you have a need to see awesome space combat, check it out.
Vandread: The Second Stage (TV) Good A continuation of the series. More action, explosions, fan service, and, surprisingly, story.
Viper GTS (OAV) Not really good The story is pretty basic, and the characters' personality does not match the way they look. Also, it deals with angels and devils, has a loli in it, girl-on-girl, DG, weak story, and "tentacle" action (the demons have long -thick- tails). Hentai: 18 and up.
When They Cry - Higurashi (TV) Excellent Dark anime. Blood, gore, and a bunch of cute but crazy girls. There are some seens that will stick with you, whether you want to remember them or not. It will corrupt you. You have been warned. Having said that, everyone should watch this!
When They Cry - Kai (TV) Excellent After watching season one, you must watch this conclusion! The first few chapters are more of the same old "everyone dies" antics that we know and love, but slowly the holes are being filled and the story is coming together as it draws to a conclusion. Again, a dark anime, so prepare yourself for some intense scenes. Having said that, this anime has a good ending, by which I mean it was not rushed and it was not inconclusive. I give it a standing ovation for a job well done and a story well told. If you've seen Higurashi no Naku Koroni, you MUST watch this. If you haven't, watch that THEN this!
Witch Hunter Robin (TV) Very good The story is good, and the action is fine enough. The story is a bit slow, and the ending is bad. also, I hve a problem with Robin being 17 years old...
You're Under Arrest: The Motion Picture Very good I never saw the manga or the show. In fact the two reasons why I saw it was because the preview had a really cool song and the creator was the same guy who made "Ah! My Goddess." All I have to say is...it was a good buy. A damn good buy.
Zoku Sayonara Zetsubou-sensei (TV) Excellent For some odd reason, the creators of this series felt like they had to outdo themselves because of the wonderful job they did with the first series. So because of that, after finishing this series, I felt like I watched 56 episodes instead of 24. They really crammed this second series full of jokes. I absolutely enjoyed it, but I had to keep rewinding it because I kept missing something here or there. Fans of the series, this is a must. Also, anyone who just want a laugh, give it a gander. however, it's very fast paced. Expert viewers recommended.
