2001 Ya Monogatari (OAV)DecentThis is a weird movie on how space travel doesn't work if you can't go the speed of light. To me it was boring. No new concepts.
Aishiteruze Baby (TV)Very goodVery cute drama. It does revolve around the kid, but it goes into so much more than that.
Akagi (TV)ExcellentFrom the beginning I disliked the art. But by the end of the first episode this series got a hold on me and I had to watch the next episode. Very exciting and much more than a usual anime about sports or a game. Just make sure that you read a little bit on mahjong rules, that way you will actually somewhat have a clue to what's going on (unlike me when I started watching it). But even without knowing anything about mahjong, it's very enjoyable.
Akira (movie)So-soHard to understand, and just weird in general.
(The) Animatrix (OAV)Very goodAdds nice details to the parts left out of Matrix, and some extras about it.
Appleseed (OAV)Very goodDespite older animation very enjoyable storyline and intrigue.
Appleseed (movie)GoodCG animation makes it feel like you're watching a video game. However, I liked both the storyline and animation. Nothing extremely good, but it was very enjoyable.
Appleseed: Ex Machina (movie)GoodThe whole movie looks like a cut scene in a video game with really good graphics. But it works, animation or rather CG looks really good, plot is decent.
Attack on Titan (TV)Excellent
Ayakashi - Samurai Horror Tales (TV)Very goodClassic Japanese horror. If you have interest in it, you'll like it, otherwise it might be a little boring.
Banner of the Stars (TV)Very goodJust as good as the first one if not better. Very good character development, and story development.
Banner of the Stars II (TV)Very goodGreat further development, and even better ending anticipated by everyone. Spoiler - not to worry Jinto doesn't die!
Barefoot Gen (movie)GoodStory of Nuclear bombing of Hiroshima. Pretty heavy stuff. The manga is better though. If you want a slightly lighter war anime watch Grave of the Fireflies by Ghibli.
(The) Beast Player Erin (TV)ExcellentThis series starts slow, but really picks up at about episode 6. There is a big story to this series, and it delivers it well, although without any rush. If you can stand slower series, this is for you.
BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad (TV)ExcellentEven thought I didn't really like the kind of music they play, but the story was very enticing and the music got better as it went. Would recomend it to anyone, even if you're not really interested in music.
Berserk (TV 1997)MasterpieceClosely follows Manga and then ends in a cliffhanger (don't worry, Skull Knight will save him). The plot is AMAZING! The most amazing part about it is that it is very belieavable. Nobody is perfect, nobody is 100% good (exept Rickert), everyone seems very human (it they are human...). Get Manga from www.thehawks.org
Beyond (OAV)
Big Windup! (TV)Very goodThis is a fun Junior high baseball drama. Manga is a lot better.
Big Windup! Season 2 (TV)Excellent
Black Lagoon (TV)Very goodPretty Cool action, even though at times it can get pretty corny.
Black Lagoon: The Second Barrage (TV)ExcellentThe coolness continues with more Revy, Rock, Balalaika and others. First ark looks a little weird, but is surprisingly good, and ends just the way it's supposed to.
Blade of the Phantom Master (movie)Very goodKind of rushed, but still good.
Bleach the Movie: Memories of NobodyGoodNo new development. See your old favorite characters fight, and as always win.
Bleach: Memories in the Rain (OAV)GoodA recap of what had happened between episode 1 and 20 or so. The ending is very nice because I think it shows how every shinigami group spends their free time.
Bleach: The Sealed Sword Frenzy (OAV)GoodNot bad, but not as good as general series. It's more of a fansurvice to show all of the captains again.
Blood: The Last Vampire (movie)DecentShort and to the point.
Blue Exorcist (TV)
Blue Seed (TV)Very goodCharacter development is good, and humor is good, storyline is very good too. English dubbed version is bad.
Blue Seed Beyond (OAV)GoodIt's basically a nice fan survice for people wondering what happened to all of the characters afterwards.
Boys Over Flowers (TV)ExcellentNice romance story. Likable characters. Cute and handsome boys.
Brave Story (movie)GoodA very typical RPG setting. Too typical. Animation is great though.
Castle in the Sky (movie)MasterpieceOne of the best Miyazaki's movies, if not THE best.
(The) Cat Returns (movie)GoodWeak for studio Ghibli.
Chrono Crusade (TV)GoodIt made me dislike Christian god even more than I did before.
City Hunter: Death of the Vicious Criminal Ryo Saeba (special)Very goodI think this is the best City Hunter movie, and it really brings out all of the characters in the series, both in terms of action and comedy.
City Hunter: The Motion Picture (special)Good
Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion (TV)
Cowboy Bebop (TV)Very goodIt's good, no doubt about it. But I don't understand everyone's obsession about it.
Crest of the Stars (TV)ExcellentVery exiting on land and galactic action. Watched all in a very shor period of time.
Cromartie High School (TV)GoodSome extremely funny moments, but the humor gets repetitive and boring after a while. Plus it basically lacks plot other than being funny.
Densha Otoko (live-action movie)GoodIt's an interesting movie, especially interesting is the reactions of the blog readers all over Japan. However, the main character is such a big whimp that it really distracts from the story.
Descendants of Darkness (TV)WeakAll I expected was decent plor and/or yaoi, but it didn't have either.
(The) Dog of Flanders (movie)Very good
Doraemon the Movie: Nobita and the Animal Planet (movie 1-11)Very goodThis is one of the very best Doraemon movies. (I don't think you can find it in US.)
Doraemon the Movie: Nobita and the Birth of Japan (movie 1-10)Good
Doraemon the Movie: Nobita and the Kingdom of Clouds (movie 1-13)Very goodThis is one of the best Doraemon movies. (I don't think you can find it in US.)
Doraemon the Movie: Nobita's Diary on the Creation of the World (movie 1-16)GoodOne of the better Doraemon movies. I thought it was great how this "Genesis" totally involved evolution. That's right America! That's how you teach children evolution!
Doraemon the Movie: Nobita's Dinosaur (movie 1-01)BadThis is probably the worst Doraemon movie. (I don't think you can find it in US.)
Doraemon the Movie: Nobita's Dorabian Nights (movie 1-12)Not really goodThis is one of the weak Doraemon Movies. (I don't think you can find it in US.)
Dorami & Doraemons: Robot School's Seven Mysteries (movie)DecentEntertaining. (I don't think you can find it in US.)
Dororo (live-action movie)GoodA pretty good movie as long as your expectations are reasonable. However, the plot is pretty standard, so can't say it was great.
Elfen Lied (TV)Good*sigh* Too much blood and bodyparts-flying-off for me... It matches it, but just too much.
Emma: A Victorian Romance (TV)Very goodA classic that very beautifully and accurately portrays victorian era with a romance between two people from diffrent social classes.
Emma: A Victorian Romance Second Act (TV)Excellent
Escaflowne: The MovieExcellentI don't know why people didn't like it. I thought it was soo cool.
Eureka Seven (TV)Very goodI can't say it's a masterpiece, but it's very enjoyable nevertheless. First ~5-7 episodes don't really pull you in, but as relationships deepen and emotions heat up you will be drawn in. Just be a little patient. And after that it's extremely enjoyable. I'll have to spoil the ending a little though: it's not very well executed ending, but none of the main characters die; so you can relax and simply enjoy it without worrying much.
Fake (OAV)Very goodVery cute, especially if you have read the manga (now available at Borders).
Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children (movie)Very goodExellent CG, brings back everybody's favorite characters. However, plot is pretty shallow... Still very enjoyable.
Flying Phantom Ship (movie)DecentVery old. Very predictable.
Fruits Basket (TV 1/2001)ExcellentPlot is pretty deep and very interesting, art is cute, main characters are all very likable, there is some action and enough drama. Exellent series!
Full Metal Panic! (TV)ExcellentThe best combination of comedy and giant-robot genre. Very funny at times without being really stupid, encorporates fair amoung of drama, and there is a lot of action, especially towards the end.
Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid (TV)ExcellentThe best out of three series. It really adds a new dimension to all of the main characters and their emotions. Really brings out the drama, and yet has a lot of action. Plus some question from the previous series are answered.
Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu (TV)ExcellentNothing about giant-robots, and everything about comedy. I cried because I was laughing really hard. Extremely funny, one of the best if not the best comedy anime out there.
Fullmetal Alchemist (TV)MasterpieceOne of the very few series that in whole can be called a Masterpiece.
Fullmetal Alchemist: The Movie - Conqueror of ShamballaVery goodActually a pretty good conclusion to the whole story. Exept I would rather have it end slightly differently, but oh well.
Galaxy Express 999 (movie)Very goodAnimation classic. For people who don't want to see all 113 episodes of the TV series, this is a shorter version. A much much shorter version. It explains everything from the beginning to the end. The only downside, there isn't really enough time for all the cool planets, but I think the shortness kinda makes up for that.
Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo (TV)Excellent"Count of Monte Cristo" by Alexandre Dumas itself is fabulous story so read it. Unusual coloring of Anime, but very good when you get used to it. The voice of the Count (plaid by the same guy who did Alucard from Hellsing) is just soooo good. I don't know why they modified the ending by making it worse than it was in the book... Very good upto ep 20.
Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet (TV)Excellent
Genshiken (TV)Very goodVery very funny, even if you know nothing about the otaku culture.
Ghost in the Shell (movie)GoodToo philosophical to be entertaining. I found it often boring. Animation is superb, however.
Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence (movie)ExcellentAnimation and music are simply something else... the content is again too philosophical, and often boring, or very hard to understand what is really going on, or why it's so important. But watch it at least just for the beautiful animation.
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (TV)Excellent1st GIG was great, even though it's complicated. 2nd GIG is just as good and complicated. Watch each GIG all at once or you will be lost in the intrigues.
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex: Solid State Society (movie)Very goodGreat further character development, very difficult and philosophical story.
(The) Girl Who Leapt Through Time (movie)Excellent
(The) Gokusen (TV)Very goodStarts out a little slow, and that weird dog is annoying, but then picks up and is very enjoyable. Plus helps shed light onto Yakuza world and lingo.
Grave of the Fireflies (movie)Masterpiece"CLASSIC. Warning: this is a film that will tear away at your heart. If you have any human compassion in your soul to begin with, you *will* shed tears, many of them, before the end of this film." - abunai (another Anime News Network user)
Gravitation (TV)DecentI didn't like the music.
Gravitation: Lyrics of Love (OAV)So-soMuch weaker than series. Also it's not really necesary to watch it.
Gunbuster (OAV)DecentThis is old style Robot anime. It has a historical values (as a history of mecha anime), but story is simplistic and cliches are abundant.
Gungrave (TV)Very goodWatch it from ep 2. The first part is very interesting and enjoyable, however the second part is full of hopelesness, and is much less enjoyable.
Gurren Lagann (TV)Very goodThis series are condensate of all the clichés that there are, and yet it is very unique and good. I recommend this to anyone young or old (who wanna feel a little younger).
.hack//Legend of the Twilight (TV)GoodFunny to watch.
.hack//Liminality (OAV)WeakDon't bother.
.hack//SIGN (TV)DecentGreat animation. Even better amazing soundtrack. BUT the plot is really weak.
Haibane Renmei (TV)ExcellentVery strange series. But good.
Hand Maid May (TV)DecentTypical harem anime with one guy and many cute girls aiming for him.
Heat Guy J (TV)Very goodVery enjoyable. Get it at http://anime-4ever.org/index.php?s=bt&loc=1
Hellsing (TV)ExcellentCan be sometimes hard to grasp, but coolness of main character makes up for it.
Hetalia - Axis Powers (TV)
Highlander: The Search for Vengeance (movie)DecentKinda disappointing. The animation is great, but plot just isn't there.
Hitsuji no Uta (OAV)Not really goodCompared to manga (which is now available in Borders) the picture quality is very poor, and the music and use of music is bad. Just read the manga.
Howl's Moving Castle (movie)MasterpieceA movie after which you will feel better.
I''s (OAV)WeakVery weak, especially compared to manga.
Iblard Jikan (OAV)DecentJust to clear things up, this should be watched the same way as walking through an art gallery. Nothing happens, just watch one beautiful panorama after another.
Initial D (TV)Very goodAnimation is pretty bad, storyline is simple, and some episodes were in Chinese. But despite all of that you just get sucked in!
Initial D: Battle Stage (OAV)GoodRecap of most Battles, well arranged.
Initial D: Extra Stage (OAV)Very goodCute, nice, and exiting as all Initial D is. Plus there is some bonus nudity for guys ^_~.
Initial D: Fourth Stage (TV)ExcellentAnimation gets much better again, and storyline does too.
Initial D: Second Stage (TV)ExcellentAnimation is significantly better, CG for cars is better, and again you get sucked in.
Initial D: Third Stage (movie)Very goodNothing special, more battles and saving a girl. But again, you can't not watch it.
INTERSTELLA 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem (movie)GoodDone by the same guy who did Galaxy Express 999. It's a musical, there are no words but only cheezy techno music. But when you get passed the music (which might not match everyone's taste), it's surprisingly good. I recomend it for everyone.
Inuyasha (TV)ExcellentVery strong in the beginning, but gets a little weaker in the middle, and towards the end. Exellent character development and character relations.
InuYasha the Movie 2: The Castle Beyond the Looking GlassVery goodNot bad, plus there is that KISS scene!
InuYasha the Movie 3: Swords of an Honorable RulerGoodA little better.
InuYasha the Movie 4: Fire on the Mystic IslandDecentI expcted something to conclude the series from this movie, but it was separate from the series, just like the other Inuyasha movies. And it's not any better either, kinda boring actually.
InuYasha the Movie: Affections Touching Across TimeDecentI would say it's pretty weak storywise.
Jin-Roh - The Wolf Brigade (movie)ExcellentVery dark movie from the beginning to the very end. But very good never the less. Just don't watch it unless you're fine with being depressed after this.
Jyu-Oh-Sei (TV)GoodI liked the original idea. Animation was good. But they really rushed the series. There could have been so much more development.
Kaiji: Ultimate Survivor (TV)GoodAt first this seems to be like Akagi. Same art (same Mangaka), and similar premise. It even manages to grab you in a similar (but no the same) way. But then the ending just goes horribly wrong. Also there is no badassness. There is pain, desperation, human emotions that Akagi lacked, but Kaiji is not a badass.
Kakurenbo - Hide & Seek (OAV)DecentThis... basically bad guys win... and continue doing bad stuff.. so I didn't get, what was the point?
Kekkaishi (TV)ExcellentVery likable characters, and slowly but surely developing strong overall plot.
Kemonozume (TV)DecentVery unique animation style, and pretty unique story. However, it's just too weird for me.
Kiki's Delivery Service (movie)MasterpieceAnother Miyazaki's classic. Very happy movie.
Kimi ni Todoke - From Me to You (TV)GoodVery cute and sweet series, but about angsty.
King of Thorn (movie)Decent
Kino no Tabi: The Beautiful World (movie)ExcellentSequel of the TV series. Goes just like another episode. This episode didn't feel like the material was already digested and spoon fed, so I liked it a little better than the main TV series.
Kino's Journey (TV)Very goodI've read many opinions comparing Mushishi to Kino's Journey, but personally I liked Mushishi much better. Kino's Journey is a very good piece, but while watching it, I sometimes felt like I was spoon fed already digested opinion. Mushishi made me think more. Make sure you watch Mushishi, whether you liked this or not.
Last Exile (TV)ExcellentAnimation quality is superb, storyline is exellent, character development is very good, and ending is very appropriate. Also: "I must warn you that it contains one of the most unsettling - even outright terrifying - villains of any anime I've seen." - abunai (another Anime News Network user)
Last Order Final Fantasy VII (OAV)So-soI watched it just to be able to understand Advent Children better. But it was crappy nnone the less.
Like the Clouds, Like the Wind (movie)GoodA movie that reminds me of Ghibli (since some of the staff is from Ghibli, no wonder). Pretty good historical comedy/drama, but nothing more than that.
Love Hina (TV)Very goodOne of the first in harem-comedy genre. Good one with likable characters, and a good ending. (the OVA)
Love Hina Again (OAV)Very goodGood ending to the series that everyone was expecting.
Love Hina Spring Special - I Wish Your DreamGoodJust another special, nothing really gets anywhere.
Love Hina X'mas Special - Silent EveGoodSame as above.
Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro (movie)ExcellentYeah, Miyazaki's work!
Mahōjin Guru Guru (TV)GoodFunny, especially for people who did all the earlier RPGs. But gets a little boring after a while.
(The) Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (TV)DecentI don't get why people are so crazy about this. It's decent, but nothing oh-so-special. Funny, but not as much as Fummofu. Random, but doesn't even come close to randomness of FLCL.
Mermaid (movie)GoodA short movie with strong metaphores about I think communism. I'm pretty sure that that was what inspired Tezuka Osamu.
Metropolis (movie)WeakI really liked the 60's 70's animation style combined with CG, but I think the plot is pretty weak.
Millennium Actress (movie)GoodAs a movie it's a good movie, but I didn't find it to be a masterpiece.
Mirage of Blaze: Rebels of the River Edge (OAV)Decent
Mobile Suit Gundam MS IGLOO: Apocalypse 0079 (OAV)GoodEnjoyable mostly because of the whole thing being CG animated. It's like watching a video game on X-box 360.
Mobile Suit Gundam MS IGLOO: The Hidden One Year War (movies)GoodSame as above, but here we get a little more story and emotions.
Mobile Suit Gundam Seed (TV)Very goodAs anyother mecha anime it sucks you in.
Mobile Suit Gundam Seed C.E.73: Stargazer (ONA)GoodAlmost totally unrelated to Gundam Seed, except some characters run through this one too. It was pretty good until.... it just suddenly ended.
Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny (TV)GoodWorse than the first one due to an extreme annoyingness of the main character, but still ok.
Moribito - Guardian of the Spirit (TV)ExcellentThe action scenes surpass Samurai Champloo. Other than a few (~3) filler episodes, plot is solid and it draws in. Animation is beautiful.
Mushi-Shi (TV)MasterpieceVery hard to describe, because this anime is something you need to watch and feel. The first three episodes it looks like the writer is still trying to figure what it's gonna be about, but then it just gets on the roll. Lets just say that my step-father, aunt, and even grandmother who before this only liked Miyazaki's movies liked this anime.
Mushishi (live-action movie)So-soSeverely butchered and changed stories put together, that have lost most of the charms of the original. Don't bother.
My Neighbor Totoro (movie)MasterpieceAdults might not understand it too well, but kids will love it and watch it over and over. It's just so Magical!
Mythical Detective Loki Ragnarok (TV)GoodUnusual interpretation of nordic mythology... I always thought Loki was the bad one. But series is entertaining and characters are likable, though too much remains unexplained...
Naruto Special: Battle at Hidden Falls. I Am the Hero! (OAV)Good
Naruto the Movie: Legend of the Stone of Gelel (movie 2)GoodThough cheezy, much better than the first movie both in terms of character development and fight scenes.
Naruto the Movie: Ninja Clash in the Land of SnowSo-soVERY cheesy, lame character development. The only enjoyable part was after the ending credits where Kakashi sees his favorite Ichaicha Paradaise being made into a movie.
Naruto: Akaki Yotsuba no Clover o Sagase (OAV)Decent
Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (movie)MasterpieceI liked the movie better than the awfully long Manga. Very well made and good ending.
Neon Genesis Evangelion (TV)Very goodOVERRATED Decent beginning, good middle, and then it just goes into philosophical and psychiatrical discussion, and it becomes virtually impossible to comprehand...
Neon Genesis Evangelion: Death & Rebirth (movie)DecentRecap of the Series, boring if you've seen the series.
Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of Evangelion (movie)GoodGood until about 1/3 way through the second one, then boring stuff starts, then the end is very... uh... metaphorical, but really weird. But at least it's the end.
Now and Then, Here and There (TV)MasterpieceAt first animation seems childish and unsophisticated, but behind that a very deep and touching story unfolds with nothing childish in it. This will really make you think.
One Outs (TV)ExcellentAmazing one from the same director Yuzo SATO who did Akagi. The same atmosphere, and grabs you after second episode. Same suspense and same bad-ass-ness. I can't wait for him to make something else. If you liked Akagi, this is a must. Also a little easier to follow, since more people are familiar with baseball than with Mahjong.
Origin ~Spirits of the Past~ (movie)GoodVery predictable plot, but good animation and soundtrack.
Pale Cocoon (OAV)GoodThe future they paint seems too unrealistic to me, especially the whole concept of loosing historical records. We try to preserve records as well as we can, and I doubt we will ever stop doing that.
Paprika (movie)Decent
Paranoia Agent (TV)ExcellentThis is a very weird series, especially the last two episodes. Very good nevertheless.
Peacemaker (TV)GoodStarts out kinda goofy, but this is one of the bloodiest animes out there. Very good character development and story telling. If you want continuation, Manga is available at Borders, though the story gets darker.
(The) Place Promised in Our Early Days (movie)Not really goodAnimation is great, but that's about all there is to it.
Planetes (TV)ExcellentVery realistic portrayal of the future and it's space development, both technology, politics, and people wise. I recomend it to anyone.
Please Teacher! (TV)GoodAnother one of typical harem series, with a little twist. If you like harem anime with tons of big boobs and nice ass, with romance, this is for you.
Please Teacher! (OAV)GoodIf you like the series, this is just some extra, with one extra beautiful lady.
Pom Poko (movie)Very goodToo much treehugging, but very enjoyable anyways. Good job, Ghibli.
Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea (movie)Very goodI didn't feel much of Miyazaki's magic in this one. Maybe I am just in the wrong age group, but because I was expecting like his previous movie this did dissapoint.
Porco Rosso (movie)MasterpieceMy favorite Miyazaki Hayao's work.
Princess Jellyfish (TV)
Princess Mononoke (movie)MasterpieceMiyazaki doesn't usually portray much death, blood, and distruction, but this has it all. Great story, action, and even some romance. With great portrayals of ancient Japanese gods and spirits, maybe slightly harder to fully understand for Americans, easier for cultures with some leftover of ancient gods and spirits of the nature.
Record of Lodoss War (OAV)Very goodClassic. Even if you don't watch it, get the opening, it's called "Kiseki no Umi" the best anime opening I've heard.
Requiem from the Darkness (TV)GoodThis is pretty good if you like Japanese historically themed titles. Not outstanding though.
Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honnêamise (movie)So-soFrom what I've heard I thought it would be better. However, to me it was boring even though the lead voice actor is absolutely great.
Rurouni Kenshin: Reflection (OAV)Very goodGood conclusion to the Kenshin TV series. Sad thoughl.
Rurouni Kenshin: Trust & Betrayal (OAV)MasterpieceProbably the saddest and the best movie I've seen.
S-CRY-ed (TV)Very goodGood character development, good plot and very interesting story development.
Saber Marionette J (TV)GoodPretty entertaining and enjoyable.
Samurai 7 (TV)Very goodDoesn't live up to the original film by Kurosawa Akira. Beginning is very good, but middle is weak, and when you think it would have a happier ending than the original film, it doesn't. But if you look at it separately, and not in a comparison, it's very good.
Samurai Champloo (TV)ExcellentOne episode will be simply halarious, where another will be just weird, and occasional episodes will be very serious. Nice ending too.
(The) Secret World of Arrietty (movie)Very good
Seikimatsu Darling (OAV)Very goodVery funny in all the aspects, great comedy.
She, The Ultimate Weapon (TV)Very goodThis anime made me cry so many times. Don't watch episodes 11-13 and you will be a much happier person.
Slam Dunk (TV)Very goodOne of the better sports animes out there, after about 7th episode really pulls you in. And later you're just rooting for everyone. Anime ends right before the national tournament, if you want the continuation download Slam Dunk Manga 1-30 torrent.
Slam Dunk (movie)DecentIt's more of an extra episode than a movie. Nothing better than anime, maybe slightly worse.
Slam Dunk: Shōhoku Saidai no Kiki! Moero Sakuragi Hanamichi (movie)GoodSame as the above.
Slam Dunk: Zenkoku Seiha da! Sakuragi Hanamichi (movie)GoodSame as the above.
SOS! Tokyo Metro Explorers: The Next (movie)Very goodShort movie, with a unexpected ending. Definitely watch it.
Spice and Wolf (TV)ExcellentSimilar feel to Mushishi, although there is more continuity between episodes. I can't say that the plot or the animation is something spectacular, but everything is well made, comes together nicely, and creates a unique atmosphere and attachment to characters.
Spice and Wolf II (TV)Excellent
Spirited Away (movie)MasterpieceIt's definitely a masterpiece, but I can't say I like it more than other Miyazaki's works. I think it's overrated.
Spriggan (movie)Good
Steamboy (movie)Very goodDespite all the hype an average movie, with average characters, average very predictable plot, and average story development.
(The) Story of Saiunkoku (TV)Very goodNice Chinese Historic drama. It has a nice plot with plenty of political intrigues, total bishie fest, and fair amount of action as well. Also unlike Fushigi Yuugi, there is nothing annoying about the main heroine.
Strawberry Eggs (TV)WeakAmusing.
Street Fighter Alpha (OAV)Not really good
Sukisho (TV)So-soPlot is too jumpy and doesn't flow smoothly. Not enough details. Sometimes funny.
Summer Wars (movie)
Sword of the Stranger (movie)Very goodSomewhat interesting movie with very good action scenes. But it comes short on character development.
Tachikomatic Days (OAV)GoodVery short few minute clips entirely on Tachikomas, it's worth watching.
Tales from Earthsea (movie)ExcellentDoesn't have Hayao's magic in it, but a very solid and good movie, especially if you have read Ursula LeGuinn's "Earthsea" novels. And if you haven't, you should.
Those Who Hunt Elves (TV)Very goodIt doesn't make much sense in the beginning, so just enjoy the comedy; but they explain everything later.
Tide-Line Blue (TV)GoodEnjoyable with well developed characters, plot, and it's short.
TO-Y (OAV)Not really goodIt was weird... I kinda got what it was about, but the whole thing was so out of the blue without any explanation of what how and why was going on that.. I couldn't enjoy it. Maybe the fact that I've never read the manga has something to do with it.
Tokko (TV)Not really goodI read the manga http://animewaves.net/index.php?goto=m-tokko and compared to manga it's just not living up to it. The animation is low budget, the music is crappy low budjet. I can only hope that the plot will be worth watching it.
Trigun (TV)MasterpieceTrully explores the meaning of being a peacemaker. Great character development, great storyline. A lot of humor, a lot of tears (especially at the end). You will really get sucked in.
(The) Twelve Kingdoms (TV)MasterpieceIt starts out slow, but then picks up (around episode 6) and then it's absolutely great!
Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust (movie)ExcellentI thought it was really cool. Also well dubbed.
(The) Vision of Escaflowne (TV)ExcellentExiting series, with an interesting concept, story, character development, and ending.
Voices of a Distant Star (OAV)ExcellentAmazingly this movie is made by one man, from plot and scenario, to all of the animation and Japanese voice acting (his wife dubbed the girl). For a short animation that it is it is good, and I don't know if it could be better in that limited amount of time.
Whisper of the Heart (movie)ExcellentI can't quite say it's a masterpiece, but it's definitely worth seeing.
Wolf's Rain (TV)ExcellentWolves are so cool in this anime. The story is interesting as well, but slightly too far off in terms of fantasy.
Wolf's Rain (OAV)GoodIt concludes the series with pretty expected conclusion. But even though expected, I didn't like it.
X (movie)Worst everIt's hard to say why is this movie so bad, even compared to the series. The character development is impossible in such a short time with so many characters, and there is just so much unexplained, and the ending is really bad as well. Just bad.
X (TV)Very goodVery different from the movie and actually good. At first I didn't realize why I liked this series so much, even though the plot is really weird. Then I realized it was because of the characters. They are extremely well developed and likable. I recomend this a CLAMP classic.
xxxHOLiC the Movie: A Midsummer Night's DreamDecentKinda dull.
Yugo the Negotiator (TV)WeakUh... he gets tortured, then he gets respect, then he gets tortured again, and then he gets respect again.... Plus their portrayal of Russia could not be more WRONG. I mean seriously, if you're wearing KGB clothes after 1990, you're just gonna get laughed at, nobody is gonna let you in anywhere.
Zaion: I Wish You Were Here (ONA)Very goodI thought that this was really good short series. Story wasn't too deep, but everything else compensated for it.
